The official reason Hugo Weaving didn't appear was a scheduling conflict, and the fact they didn't delay the film to accommodate him shows how little they understand what made the first movie so popular.

They probably had a lot of hubris with the fact that they were able to replace the Oracle, The only reason people let that slide was because the original actress died tragically, I don't think they've realized how much that affected the movie's plot though

I heard that Lawrence Fishburne wasn’t even called up and offered a chance to make the movie which is just disgusting.

The real tragedy is that Hugo Weaving wanted to do the movie! He said "just give me six months to finish this theater production first" and the studio said "NO, we're doing it NOW!"

To me the "metacommentary" scene supports this theory. She's telling us what the sequel would have been like if Warner Bros had hired someone else to do a mindless reboot. The final product still sucks, but it's almost self-aware.

The effort modern writers go through to tear down old heroes but then fail to prop up their own new super cool OC (do not steal) characters is astounding.

Believe it or not this movie is actually made by the wachowski brothers the same guys who did the first one, however both of them have decided that they wish to be female now apparently, this movie is the perfect example of what happens to the mind when you do such a thing to yourself.

Find out the connection through that, then you will know the real reason why the movie was made. I mean the book inspired a few sci-fi movies based on what is supposedly true according to the book (VALIS) Written by Philip K Dick. His book inspired inspired Dark City, The Matrix, Blade Runner the first movie which was awesome I liked it. Another was Minority Report and MIB oh and MIB was a counter part to Matrix that's why Will turned down the role Neo, not what you're told, why because the movies were similar. And both inspired by hhe same book and through out the years no one knew this because it's Classified. How do I know this. In 2019 Thirdphaseofmoon released a video that tells a story about a mysterious black ship in orbit that has been orbiting our earth for thousands of years, and the government kept it a secret when they discovered it, the individual astronaut who was sent to inspect what the black object was before learning it was some kind of a satellite ship, the astronauts name was Philip K Dick yes the writer of a book called Valis, if you read the book you will come to learn who Valis is, in which I myself find the Matrix movies more accurately lined with the book than other movies. All three movies were basically telling what's going on and how it will end up. At some point in 2021 when I talked about this to someone in a youtube comment. KZread took measures to hunt down the video, and I did no even describe which video but somehow KZread found which video I was talking about on Thirdphaseofmoon channel and banished it. I know this because I looked for it afterwards and it vanished. Whatever we talk about that Valis does not like it orders its Agents to terminate the problem. Thus you hear someone complaining about youtube algorithm, and that is an Agent at work putting someone back to sleep like right now, they are fighting me while I'm typing this comment. They now know goodness goodbye mate. Talk another time when I'm far from their grip

"My expectations were zero and you still failed" perfectly sums up my experience. I've never ever liked the Matrix, but I've still seen them all and know the lore for the most part. Including that stupid game and anime everyone never shuts up about. So I was mildly curious about this one, seeing if they'd do anything new... Nope. Force Awakens basically.

I decided to pass on this one as well, but after seeing this video, I'm tempted to hate watch it now.

The movie already lost me when the agents lost all their aim in the opening sequence.

I just discovered your channel and I have to say your incites are so spot on, your analysis' so well thought out that I subscribed without any hesitation. I look forward to watching all your breakdowns and please keep them coming.

I forgot the movie the moment credits rolled. All I remembered for Neo spamming on the force push during the run away scene.

The movie met my expectations as I fully expected them to trash Neo and make Trinity "the real hero all along" and they did that.

With all the problems they have (and they have a lot of problems), Reloaded and Revolutions were still good movies in my opinion. Agent Smith was still a great villain in the sequels (excluding Resurrections).

Wow, this was an awesome breakdown. Also whenever I need a laugh, I’ll come back to this video because your criticisms made me fall out of my chair. So right, so spot-on with how it disrespects all the elements we love in service of a new story and characters we don’t care about or remember. I watched it twice thinking “hmm, maybe I’m wrong” and missed something, but aside from some kinda clever base-level meta ideas, this is just so utterly disappointing it hurts. And still does to this day.

The movie is a farce - literally and intentionally. It is a masterpiece of farce. It's incredible that Warner Bros allowed Wachowski to make it all - and logarithmically more incredible that they didn't intervene when they started seeing dailies. But presumably Wachowski had some kind of air-tight creative control contract. In any eventm, the movie is efforting to make the very points you are making about it and the phenomenon of vapid rebooting its existence represents. Seeing that Warner Bros was going to take the matrix and do with it the same thing hollywood has done with every other franchise, Lana decided instead to take the helm and burn the whole thing in effigy. Viewed in this light - as an enormous boondoggle middle finger at both the studio AND the fans, it's not only fabulous but, at times, really funny. Neo: "How does it end?" [Obliquely referring to the movie itself] Trinity: "Not good." I mean, come on!

And to add to this, 25 years ago when a movie was so bad it sucks ass so intensely, we were joking about downloading it illegally, burning it to CD and throw the CD to the garbage just right away.

I have no idea why they intend to bastardize these movies for profits. It's like they can't make original IP anymore unless you have nothing to squeeze from and it's like ideas are a foreign concept nowadays. Far cry from where we once were (sorry if I sound boomer-ish even tho I'm not one lol)

I love the Matrix Trilogy and when the new movie came out (because of the culture, lgbtq+, new feminism bullshit) I already knew that it was gonna suck. But still, wanna give the movie the chance. I stopped watching midway through. Also, I'm enjoying these critiques videos, you should do the Pirates of the Caribbean!

The only explanation for this trash (and I really hope is true) was they were going to make the matrix 4 with or w/o the Wachowskis, so they take the job, explain the issue to the returning actors, they make sure they get a good paycheck and make a trash of a movie to make sure it can never be remade. At least that can be forgiven, best to destroy your work than to see someone else pervert it.

This is the Matrix movie that was approved by the agents and shown in the actual matrix to discourage people from unplugging. Morpheus and Trinity were apprehended a couple months later with the help of concerned citizens. Workplace tardiness and absency rates dropped to historical minimums.

Was there a single reason to make Trinity part of the One? I can only think of one: Neo’s real name, Thomas, means twin and if you add Trinity to the mix it becomes like the Holy Trinity. Look guys, Bible reference! You like when we make references to Christianity, right?

This is what creative bankruptcy is, as blatant and souless as a used car-salesman in movie form. The film studios will only invest big bucks in established franchises, which is why films like Dungeons and Dragons, the recent one, was actually quite good, and absolutely bombed in theaters. They make these movies for the 15-minute city NPC's, and Tik Tok parents.

I like how one of the Wachowchi's claimed the "red pill" was supposed to represent an estrogen pill because the Matrix was always about being trans. Which explains why Arnold Schwarzenegger refused the Red pill when it was first introduced in Total Recall.

Holy shit!

Describing the two sequels as "leftovers if you're still hungry" was brilliant!! Clearly the first movie has no equal and watching a woman soak her panties while eating cake was just one sign that the Wachowski's were fresh out of ideas. They blew their wad (pun intended) on the first movie and had nothing left to offer in the sequels. Every frame in the first film was an expertly crafted comic book panel. Everything from Morpheus's glasses to the clutter in Neo's room and even the spoons they used to eat a scrumptious "bowl of snot" felt purposeful and meaningful. But with each sequel all of their ideas got watered down until it was nothing more than just another sci-fi movie with nothing new or interesting to say. And yet nothing could prepare me for how utterly depressingly boring and nonsensical Resurrections turned out to be. And just like you, I went in with absolutely no expectations and couldn't imagine that it turned out as bad as it did. Everyone from the director to the janitor should be ashamed this movie was ever made and if I were an actor in the movie I'd beg IMDB to remove it from my profile. I'd rather have "cashier with no lines in McDonald's commercial" as my only acting credit than this trash.

When are you going to tackle.the silliness of.GET OUT? It's a movie that was marketed.as.horror when it came out then began calling itself a.comedy. Why? Was it the ridiculousness of the ending,.as it anyone believed the two protagonists would be believed instead of shot on sight by white cops? We already saw the reaction of black detectives. Is it its lack of originality (see SKELETON KEY, THE STEPFORD WIVES, & INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS)? This movie doesn't know what it is, and it shows. Chris isn't knocked out and operated on; he's tied to a.chair Dr. Evil style and shown a video about all the goings-on (for OUR benefit) as if he's being sold a time share condo at the beach. Meanwhile he gets through the ropes ("I'm going to put Mr. Powers and Vanessa into a lethal and long situation that's easily escapable, and then I'm going to leave, simply assuming my plan worked and not even bothering to check up on them"), still by himself, and kills everyone in the joint, but missing all the people who came to the lawn party/silent auction. And the upfront nastiness of the lawn party. Presumably smart people ask the most outrageous questions, as if they've never seen a black person before, when it soon becomes apparent that they've done this many times before. And why a silent auction instead of simply asking everyone for written offers? Because a silent auction is creepy (or silly if you have a brain because these people know what's being offered and could go home and phone it in or do it online, like it was a cat auction or a classic automobile). And then there's the Sunken Place. Why risk allowing even the tiniest bit of these original brains to remain? The rich whites have been doing this a while so they know that rebelliousness could come forward, so why take the chance? Obviously so that rebelliousness could come forward in their servants and help save the day. And then there's the faster than a speeding bullet DEEP hypnosis in which Chris is placed. An awful lot of people (about half, I once read) don't respond to hypnosis at all but Mom can put anyone under in 2 taps of her teacup with her spoon. Any other movie would just drug Chris. Any SMART movie whose writer wasn't lazy. And why assume that Bradley Whitford hasn't taught others how to perform this operation, which clearly doesn't have to be about race but about old and rich people wanting young, strong, and attractive bodies. And this of course could be happening worldwide. The death of Bradley Whitford would be the end of all this, so rich smart people would make sure others knew exactly how to perform the transplant operation. IF those rich smart people existed in a universe governed by logic. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thx.

I'm like a lot of actors a lot of the original actors simply have respect for one of their favorite works that third movie it was an ending something you don't see very often in Hollywood honestly I respect all of them for not coming back and I'm a little disappointed in Reeves for reprising his role. I'm glad they stood in the way of cultural takeover. You can't make this shit up the directors of the movies have been taken in by the machine in an attempt to pervert and desecrate the world we live in. If that's not fucking irony I don't know what is. If someone buys the matrix from them and actually does a wonderful plot with the fifth movie, about how the creator was corrupted by the very system they swore to tear down and the fourth movie itself was a plot by the machines that would have been amazing. But the chance of that happening is near zero
