Indeeeddddd! For me the old game series from 1995-2003 Star Wars Jedi Knight (dark forces I and II + dlc and the Jedi outcast and Jedi academy) are the real sequels. The story in this games are immeasurable better then the trash Disney give it to us.

I was willing to put up with anything, just to see Luke again in Last Jedi. I was shocked at what I watched. I'll never watch any of The Disney Trilogy again. What a complete waste of the characters I loved. Love your channel.

Why on earth this channel is not even getting the some thousands of subscribers and the other critics are getting the platform.

Hate to say it, because i enjoy Brooks, but his video editing quality needs work. He has frequent sound problems in many of his videos, this one included. The music in this one overpowers his voice by a large margin when its playing. There was another video that sounded like he was in a fish bowl. That, and he needs to add more humor. There needs to be a reason to enjoy his videos, and with many of the critics that youre talking about, they have some humor. For instance, the critical drinker has a pretty obvious niche. Mauler adds many jokes to his critiques. I enjoy the take he has, but Brooks just sounds like an angry man ranting. Many people become popular because of spazzing and raging, but this isnt that. Brooks needs to find his niche to gain more gravity to his channel. This is coming from a fan and a subscriber, but i can at least be objective. Any intelligent fan of EFAP should be able to figure this out. They teach you how to look for these things. Use an objective lens, and you can see the things an emotional one cannot.

Rose didn’t need to tell me that slavery is bad. I already learned that slavery is bad when they changed the name of Slave I to “Boba Fett’s Space Ship”

I feel sorry for every actor in these "movies." A few were genuinely hyped to be cast and were at the very least familiar w the lore by what was said in interviews. We all know the feeling of being let down. What a tragic disappointment. SW ended when George Lucas sold it.

Kelly Marie Tran got a lot of backlash and people say it's the fans fault. Yet it's *Rian Johnson's* fault for putting her through this mess. F%¢k him!

I feel like it goes underrated how important Mark Hamill was to the writing of the original trilogy. George Lucas would hand them the script, and Hamill and some of the other actors would call out how unrealistic the dialogue was and would basically cause Lucas to change the writing. I.e. Hamill had a much stronger voice in the original trilogy and helped Lucas make the films better, while in the new ones they casted Hamill aside and didn't even listen to a word he said

One can see the startled look on Mark Hamill's face as he struggles to walk the knife edge of his devotion to fans on one side and his job as an actor on the other, all while obviously being a huge Star Wars fan himself. Which makes me want to ask: when did this idea start that the fandom doesn't matter? THESE ARE AMAZING COMMUNITIES that pop up over great films like the 1977-1983 trilogy. Communities of millions of people who love these pop culture products. Movie makers should play to them, not spit space cow milk in their faces. When you're in a music group like a band, and you're performing in front of people, you generally don't flick off the audience. Is Rian Johnson not a Star Wars fan? It was one thing to watch George Lucas stumble and plow his way through the prequels, but this? A desecration indeed. A laugh track added to certain parts of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker would be most appropriate.

It would’ve been incredibly interesting to have Finn be the main character and become a Jedi trained by Luke. His characters origin is so opposed to Luke it would’ve been amazing and could’ve been full of so much tension and interesting perspectives, but nope they do the most predictable thing. It could have been such an original take on a character, seeing a Stormtrooper become significant and powerful, and allowing everyone to actually make a connection with one of the most disposable character types in Star Wars history. All these thoughts are flying through my brain, imagine if he and Kylo eventually found common ground and became grudging allies and later on friends who worked together to save Luke’s legacy with Finn showing Kylo he doesn’t have to follow whatever path Snoke set for him. I’m ranting lemme stop, thanks for reading this far if you did.

Annoyingly the audio on your commentary is in mono which makes it difficult to listen to with headphones but you make some great points. Hopefully you remaster the audio some day as its a great video

Honestly I haven't been back to the theater to see Anything since then. I can't, I just can't. I think I have TLJ PTSD. Btw; Search 'What if Star Wars: the Force Awakens was Awesome' that guy did more story, world and character building in the first 2 mins than All three of the "sequels" did.

I really wanna smack down that guy that yelled Woo at the conference, I'm sorry but whoever he is, was so stupid and blinded by the hype to not understand what Hamill was trying to convey.

There is nothing more painful than seeing Mark Hammill talk about never getting to work with his friends. They destroyed his character and ruined his experience all in one, while possibly scarring him for the rest of his life.

This was the starting point of the beginning of the end for Disney and it all started with the sequel trilogy.

George Lucas was a believer of true mythology and Joseph Campbell’s version of the hero’s journey. The entirety of the original Star Wars was structured around Luke’s journey as the hero. That’s why it succeeded and it was memorable. Departure, Initiation, Return… if you don’t have those three in full detail, the myth falls flat.

I love the fact that you use the sad music Padme's Rumination, from Revenge/Sith as you describe how Finn's sacrifice was ruined

I’m glad someone is just as mad as I am how that vulgar C word Kathleen Kennedy and Ruin Johnson wrecked Luke Skywalker. There was NO reason for this to happen. If George Lucas isn’t mad, there’s something wrong with him. I saw the original Star Wars trilogy as a kid in the 1970s and 1980s and I had to wait 3 long years for each sequel to be shown in theaters, but it was well worth the wait. Went to see the TFA in 2015 and was seriously unimpressed. My assessment was the same as that of Jedi Brooks; lacked any real coherence or originality and was heavily HEAVILY dependent on CGI. Simply, I saw it as a complete rehash of A New Hope. With TFA, Disney had effectively done to A New Hope what they have don with the live action remakes of the classic Disney movies. Needless to say, I had absolutely no intention of wasting my time or money on any of the sequels. I think I made a good choice.

I have not seen any Star Wars movies that came out after The Last Jedi. What a goddamn disaster.

I wish they'd swapped Rei and Ben. Rei as an Anakin counterpart, recruited from poverty, given power and respect, the enforcer of the First Order could have been a powerful contrast. Meanwhile, Ben Solo is a lazy brat, coasting through life, unmotivated... Until he encounters Kylo Ren, who beats him down, who murders his father, who gives him motivation to actually change, to live up to his potential. As for Luke... Just, something. Anything! Anything other than what we got.

Agree with the entire video. One thing I'd like to add, is that in that scene where Leia channels her inner Mary Poppins, Admiral Ackbar is killed unceremonisly in the background. Literally a blink and you miss it type of scene, a blimp in the background. Where George used the backgrounds to enrich his story with additional worldbuilding - like having special vehicles in the backgrounds of RotS - Ruin Johnson does his best to destroy everything. He is the Yoda ghost that called a lightning down to burn the sacred texts, except they're Star Wars. He is the Luke that threw his lightsaber away, but the lightsaber is the set-up Abrams gave him. TFA was kind of just a bad retelling of ANH, but at least it still felt like Star Wars. It had interesting aspects to it, it had potential. But Ruin Johnson said "it's ruinin' time" and ruined all over the trilogy.

You have a really good channel. Your LOTR videos especially highlight in such wonderful contrast just how good the movies are and how soulless the TV show was. I always say this stuff about gaming...its passion that makes good games. If you have hollywood trusfund kids with zero talent propping up the corpse of your favorite movie instead of people who love the franchise and deserve to steward it you get what we have now. Systematic annihilation of nearly every sacred franchise. A shame. But good to know sane people are out there!

I honestly don't understand how The Last Jedi was supposed to give everyone the "Luke we all wanted" with the set up that The Force Awakens laid out. I'm not absolving Rian Johnson of any guilt but I put way more of the blame on JJ Abrams. Rian's biggest failing was trying to take that nonsense Abrams came up with and follow it up in a consistent way. Which...to be fair ...he kinda did. Abrams and The Force Awakens are responsible for the majority of the character assassination in my opinion..

Poe and Chewy is like The Only good thing in this Trilogy

It was a dumpster fire, by just about any metric, except profit. But the profit was only due to fan hopes coming out of Force Awakens. I really can't understand how Johnson was allowed to do that by Disney. I can't fathom why someone in charge didn't step in and put their foot down. There is no way a director should be able to come into a part 2 of such an important and valuable franchise and be given absolutely free rein. It's unbelievable.

They didn't even have any overarching plan for the trilogy in the first place. I heard it was even planned that Ep 9 should be directed by a 3rd director, but he bailed after the fustercluck Ruin left. Darth KK, Jar Jar Abrams and Ruin Johnson, the unholy trinity of unbridled incompetence.

This movie killed star wars for me, sure, I'd watch Rebels and talk with a pal about it. But I've never watched another movie afterwards Don't think I ever will. I'm not angry, I just don't feel anything anymore

I thought The Force Awakens was a lousy A New Hope copy and a beloe average movie. Then I saw The Last Jedi and it was just so awful, so much of it I hated with a passion. Never saw the 3rd one as I didn't want to support movies without script. They invest hundreds of millions in good actors, great special effects and amazing decors, but they cannot get a good cohesive story together. A sad trend for most movies today, there's just no good writer behind them.

The most OP character short of Rey. Was under extreme physical strain pulling a star destroyer. It’s like… if she has this ability. Why doesn’t she just… idk. Go out and toss the AT-ATs? Serisouly. We see thr worst version of hoth they can create. The first order has the planet practically blockaded but just like the last movie. That doesn’t fucking matter. Frankly. I’m confused. Is the first order powerful or not? Are they tactically competent. The decade and some change they have spent in refuge at the edges of the galaxy… have they trained. They are supposed to be made up of the most fanatical staff of the imperial navy and army. But they end up losing their super weapon in the FIRST MOVIE. The charachters… they just snuck into the first orders most important tool. We’re talking about entire systems GDPs worth of value and they couldn’t put not 1 fucking guard or detection system? Imagine… the fucking Manhattan project. But Soviet scientists. With nothing but their feet walking into a desolate base in the middle of New Mexico. Like what are we taking about here. It took a leading physicist to leak the information. And even then it took the Soviets years to match

I feel like Luke in the last jedi needed to be a coward because he abandoned his friends in the force awakens how else do you explain that, but it definitely was overdone in the last jedi.

This video has all the narration in mono, horrible to hear on headphones. Content is great though!
