This is how the show aired! It was live, part improv, and Tim always made the other comics break character! It was from the late '70s.
Harvey Korman actually peed himself laughing in this skit. 😂
Back story on this: read Tim Conway's memoir that when he was in the army he had to see the dentist. Army dentist stuck himself in the thumb. That's where Tim got the idea.
Tim Conway was a riot and was always cracking up Harvey Korman. There's another one you have to watch. Conway improvised a story about elephants that wasn't even in the script. He would always try to get the other cast members to laugh by just making up things. Well, the Carol Burnett Show had two shows during the day. In the first one, Conway did the elephant story I just mentioned, then, later in the second show, he did it, but he changed the story. The cast got wind of his plan to change the story, so Vicki Lawrence mentioned she was going to get him, which was the explanation for her response to Conway in the second show. You'll understand if you watch it.

such a chame Vicki Lawrence didnt get the residuals or copy righted it I think!she didnt think the bloopers would be that lucrative, still its one of the most watched things from the Show I think! Dang it must have been a blast working on those old shows!because they had funny bones back then!

I damn near wet myself with the elephant sketch!
The patient (Harvey Korman) said that he laughed so hard during this skit that he peed his pants. I think when you first see him cross his legs is when it happens.
You must watch Tim Conway in "The Elephant Story". He completely derails the entire sketch. 😂
In the skit you will see where harvey korman(patient) crosses his legs, that is because tim conway(dr.) made him laugh so much he actually wet himself. Over the run of the show tim would always make the cast break character, but to see the best one check out the 2 elephant story outakes.
It’s awesome to see younger individuals like yourself seeing comic geniuses like these.
It always seems like audiences laugh louder when the actors break character in these sketches.
Back in the day variety shows were a huge part of television. We need them to come back. Really glad to see a young generation enjoy what I grew up with. It's always time for a good gut laugh.
Remember that this was done in front of a live audience and pure improvisation on the part of Tim Conway!😂😂
Tim Conway was famous for following the script while rehearsing, but when filming began he changed! He ad-lib and they never knew what he was going to do next, which caught the other actors off guard and that is what made it so funny. Seeing them trying to keep a straight face, God bless!
Tim Conway did the novacaine in a movie starred in and in his own variety show, only this time played the patient, but it wasn't in a dentist office.
Harvey Korman trying not to laugh is the funniest thing.
Tim and Harvey were so good together. Watched this show as a kid.
Harvey said this skit was so funny he really went to the bathroom in his pants he was laughing so much
This is one of my all-time favorite skits. I love your reaction!! Have a great day.
Tim had Harvey cracking up so bad on this skit that he actually wet himself.
The guy in the chair has the second best 'try not to laugh' face of all time.
Gotta do their Elephant bit!!!!
Korman laughed so hard he peed a little in his pants.
Tim Conway got the idea about the novacain in the leg from when he was in the army. The army dentist he was seeing did that while Tim was getting his wisdom teeth removed.
Hii BlueCM, This Was One Of The Greatest Skits I've Ever Seen. The First Time I Saw This I Cried Laughing So Hard, Just Like When I Seen "Who's On First" With Abbot & Castello. Incredible Reaction & Commentary. #RIP To Two Of The Greatest Comedy Legends Ever & To Abbot & Castello, Incredible Comedians. Keep Up The Incredible Work
Harvey Korman wet his pants laughing so hard at Tim Conways antics on this skit
Harvey Korman was also a riot and cracked Tim and everyone else up. What a great cast. 😅😅😅😅
Elephant story!
Tim did every thing as written in the dress rehearsal which they filmed. Tim asked if they had all the shots they needed and he would go into the improvised secret plan he had. No one knew what he would do. The best of both taped performances were comined.
You might like Tim Conway's "Dorf" series. And the Carol Burnett spin off, ''Mama's family".
As an officer I had to be with a prisoner who was having dental work done. He really had equipment that looked like it was from the early 1900’s or my toolbox. He had what looked like a stainless steel hammer and mallet and became the patient was in my custody he could not get anything for pain killing. It was a dentist for the county, I don’t know anyone who used that dentist
Tim Conway was always changing his lines or things he would do between dress rehearsal and the taping….you need to do the elephant story in a Mamas family skit in the Carol Burnett skit…where Tim Conway lost it because of what Vicky Laurence ad-libbed.
They both break character that's what makes it so funny
i grew up watching this stuff, you laughter earned you a new subscriber ...
Tim's Elephant story, also from the Carol Burnett Show is even funnier!
Elephant Story great!
I have a friend who went to dental school and he said they played this as part of the course
This was truly 70s style humor. Was coming off the time when comedy was much more direct. So two people today. Some of the lines seem so obvious. But to us then that’s what was funny. So don’t worry if some of it seems shallow. That’s just how it was. And this stuff was hilarious. The Carol Burnett Elephant Story. That relatively short snippet from a larger sketch is different. It truly is clever, smooth comedy like that which we are used today. And the punchline still kills. Give it a try.
This is what GOOD TV looks like. Tim was a legend.
I found that the "No Frills Airline" skit was another of the funniest I've eve😮r seen.
Harvey coreman said he actually peed a little laughing at Tim Conway in this scene
I hate going to the dentist. But I love the Carol Burnett show.
Everyone mentions the elephant story, but honestly any of the skits with Conway as the old man are great.
This sketch was based off something that happened to Tim Conway when he was in the Army. He was out processing but needed dental work before he could leave, and the dentist who saw him jabbed the novacane needle through his cheek. Ouch!
The thing with those two was that you never knew what was in the script and what they made up on the spot.
According to an interview Tim did one time he got the idea for this skit from a time in the army. He went to the dentist for some work and when the dentist was numbing his mouth he accidentally put the needle through his gum and cheek, narrowly missing his hand. The experience stayed with him and this is the result.
If you liked this, try another Carol Burnett show clip called "The Elephant Story". Tim Conway (the guy who was playing the dentist here) had a habit of going off-script and making stuff up on the spot, just to mess with the other players - and the Elephant Story was totally not in the script.

Definitely!!
when they were rehearsing the skit Tim thought it was too boring so he decided to change things up in the middle, of course only him and the crew knew what he was going to do. At about the point where he stuck himself in the hand with the needle is when he started to go off script, and you can see Harvey starting to smile because he knew something was up.
The story is about the sketch I think either one of the riders had that actually happened to him or Tim Conway had that happened to him? I can’t remember exactly where that idea for the sketch came from.
APPERTLY HARVEY KORMAN ACTUALLY PEED IN HIS PANTS , 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
A great classic. love your laugh.
loved watching that show
Loved these guys and the whole comedy show!
Tim Conway was an absolute genius at ad libbing.
Love your reaction to this show I remember as a kid watching it and I liked your laugh and face expressions👍😉I hope good things and blessings for you
Harvey Korman, the patient, said in an interview later that he was actually laughing so hard, that he actually peed his pants.
This is probably the best sketch from the Carol Burnett Show. Back story on this one: I read Tim Conway's memoir and he mentioned that while he was in the army he had to see a dentist. The army dentist accidentally poked himself in the thumb with the hypodermic needle. That's where Tim got this idea. Another great one from Carol Burnett is called A Dog's Life.

The guest on that sketch is the incomparable Pat Carroll (The voice of Ursula the Sea Witch) who sadly passed away last summer. The outtake of the three of them on the couch laughing uncontrollably is hilarious.
Great reaction, Blue. That was hilarious. 😂😂😂
Tim, RIP, was notorious for changing sketches after rehearsals.
Tim Conway was a regular guest star on the Carol Burnett show. He routinely went off script and improvised.
R.I.P Tim Conway who is the Dentist in this skit he also did the voice of Barnacle Boy from SpongeBob
This pair has a ton of skits, and a lot of individual work. The Carol Burnett Show, where they we d both regulars, would rehearse to the script and tape tgst one, but the broadcast was with a live audience snd the jyst set Tim loose whike everybidy else tried to keep up.
Liked and subscribed 😁
I see everyone is asking for the elephant story. Another good skit is called 'Went with the Wind'.

the request has me curious so its on the list for when i am able to bring new videos.
I think you would like the skit no frills airline. It’s with Tim Harvey and Carol.
The key to the 10:27 Carol Burnett Show was to make everybody else fall apart. Especially Tim Conway who was the Dentist.
love the skit tim conway had harvey laughing so hard harvey got uh wet
Tim Conway had an army dentist inject his own thumb through Tim's cheek and still try to go forward with treatment.
This DID happen to Tim Conway in real life. Conway wanted to fix a tooth problem before leaving the Army and losing his health benefits, and was assigned a newly graduated dentist. The nervous dentist pushed the novocaine needle completely through Conway's cheek and injected his own hand. He wanted to continue, but Conway refused and stayed in the Army an extra two weeks to get a new appointment with a different dentist.
Watch tim Conway and Harvey corman in the interrogator
Here's another Harvey Korman & Tim Conway sketch from The Carol Burnett Show... kzread.info/dash/bejne/hG2u1MeaYb3goMo.html

Harvey trying not to laugh
Amazing how she has absolutely no clue what she is watching, who the players are, etc.
