this video is horribly out of date. apparently the process for installing these games has gotten a lot easier or something. i didnt originally cover sonic cd because sonic cd is its own weird spinoff game and i very specifically meant the sonic trilogy on the mega drive, not the mega cd. also i didnt know of a sonic cd project at the time and frankly i still dont lmao. i guess go back in time and buy it on steam ill obviously leave this video up for people who find it useful, but im very sure there have been improvements since this video was make. i wont make a whole new video because i dont use windows anymore and havent for a very long time so a theoretical future tutorial would be pretty niche. maybe if there is enough demand ill make a video covering linux, chromeos, and windows (not macos because i dont have access to a mac anymore). i guess reply to this comment if thats something youd be interested in seeing

Sonic 1 Forever and Sonic 2 Absolute no longer require you to extract the data file from the APK, you can just put the APK in the folder and run the setup file.

The first two seconds of the video is already extremely accurate but then you explain how to actually set up the games, bravo. I already own these but I’m happy this video helped some people to find out about these versions.

The best official way to play these games is with the Mega Collection, and that came out over two decades ago. And even if you disregard that, there's also the CD ports and the 1 & 2 mobile ports by Christian Whitehead, which also came out over a decade ago. The main source of the decompilations are those versions for a reason.

AIR with the mania style soundtrack mod is definitive way to play

To add mods, download the RSDK Mod Manager, extract the downloaded file, copy all the contents in the folder and paste them into Forever and Absolute, and BOOM, *mod support*

If yall want to play a good version of s3 but not as good as sonic 3 air. Just look up sonic 3 complete which does come with nice features like being able to play og zone order. One i always used was the arcade spot sonic 3 complete but hey. I didnt understand most of this so this is for anyone like me (no widescreen tho so 😭)

@@Blur1287 APK files are actually just ZIP files apparently, so I guess you just convert it to ZIP beforehand? You can also just plop the APK into the setup folder and run the setup nowadays, so you don't have to do all the hassle, apparently.

for me it just says the discord_game_sdk.dll is missing and i cant drag it into sonic 3 air because its a 7 zip console and nothings working what do ido

what the hell is a 7zip console lol if its a 7zip archive just extract it with 7zip or nanazip if discord_game_sdk.dll is missing then you probably didnt extract the game files correctly and its missing some stuff double check everything and use google

Origins is a mixed bag lad, it doesn’t suck, at least for some people who did their homework on why it is the way it is, it’s just one of those COVID-era, “the team had to make this one at home and not the office” developed type of games. People should be giving it *at* *least* one free pass for its mistakes considering this, fight me all you want on what I just said. 🤷‍♂️ Secondly, if the music or bugs are a concern, the music couldn’t be helped. Again, free pass on that too because I can tell they tried but well… copyright issues and stuff. The bugs? Yeah the only thing worth a complaining about really but that’s it. And I still got through the whole collection all relaxed too, despite the bugs. They were very minor. Yes I said that. I normally don’t write stuff this long about misinfo or I guess in this case, exaggerated opinions but it gets realllly annoying to see the same thing repeated without anyone correcting it if it’s wrong. We live with a society of clout chasing sheep sometimes, “If they said it and got likes despite it maybe being wrong, then I’ll do it too!” It’s very sad. TDLR: Feel how you want to about the collection but don’t spread misinformation, it wasn’t THAT bad, people just like to exaggerate for clout sometimes, speaking from second-hand experience here. And I’ll see your deleted channel in a month btw, Mr. Seven Seas. Ain’t no way they will let you get away with piracy, my good scallywag 😏 Stay positive.
