• Steve Hinton Intro to ...
Steve Hinton spent a couple of days organizing the Jet Hangar at Planes of Fame Air Museum. I sat down with him afterwards and asked him to tell us a little bit about the collection. He discusses the early jet planes in our collection and his experiences as a pilot. Part II coming soon!
Planes of Fame is currently closed due to COVID-19 and had to cancel our favorite event, our annual airshow. We are in for turbulent times ahead. If you are a WWII aircraft enthusiast or someone who appreciates aviation history and would like to support Planes of Fame Air Museum, you can:

Where I live is very close to the RAF Valley training establishment on Anglesey. These Gnats were a constant presence in the local airspace for many years, great fun to watch, especially from up a mountain when they flew below you.

Hi Steve. I'm sure you know the Folland Gnat was the first aircraft the "Red Arrows" used and was designed by W.E.Petter . He also penned the Lysander and the Westland Whirlwind. He was so disillusioned by government control that he gave up aircraft design upon finishing the Gnat and became a monk. I understand the Gnat took some mastering, probably the very reason you fly it! Thankyou.

Great to have such a comprehensive follow up session, sounds like the Meteor will be the T.7 that went Stateside a couple of years ago.
