Around 18 months ago stuck in the musical wasteland of China I also stumbled across this band, they have maintained my sanity and I am forever grateful.

Saw this band in Lexington, Ky when they played at the Burl. Wanted to take a couple of my grandkids but vevue was for 18+. Nate and the band members were so gracious. They took pictures with me so I could show my grandkids, who know every song by Dead South, that I met them. Just found out they are playing in Louisville, Ky on my birthday! This time I get to take a couple of my grandkids. We are thrilled. This band is definitely Some Kind of Wonderful!

Saw em in Melbourne and Australia.. best live band I've ever seen and I've seen many of the biggest metal bands in the world but this music kicks ass. It was by far the best concert I've seen I'd go every day if possible.

I saw these guys for my 21st birthday and I can honestly say they're one of the best bands I've seen live. This is a tune.

The look in his eyes when fur coat guy holds up in diamond ring is priceless.

I discovered these guys and also The HU about same time! Luv em! (HU is Mongolian rock, throat singing is wild.. 'wolf totem' is a good start original version or one with Jacoby) But luv these guys! Hello everyone from France. I have been listening to Dead South since the beginning on youtube and I must say that their progress is incredible. When a lot of band starts to be known, they lose their "essence" or their "substance", this particularity which obliges us for example to listen to some music in loop like we do it all here :-) I do not know if the members of Dead South read the comments but if by chance you put your eyes on this one: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for us to travel without moving from where we are, I haven't a good health and not have enough money to travel but every time I put "play" on one of your titles, I am transported elsewhere and in another time, that I am outside, in a bed of hospital or in my small apartment, no matter the place you made me travel instantly. Continue like this and protect the magic that makes you special. Hello to all fans, enjoy life to the fullest !! Julian.

This video is so outstanding! Musically it is amazing, with the bright banjo, mellow guitar and that cello - damm!! Visually it is a fantastic story, a morality play....I can't believe how good these guys are. Superior!

I grew up listening to bluegrass and gosipal music and these guys make me proud to see that bluegrass isn't dead it will live on as a part of southern heritage and america history

I think what makes TDS special is that they touch on that familiar pain we all have but they do it in such a way that is - one might say primal - in that we all have ties to this music or similar - if not from our grandparents, from theirs. They bring it forward and gives us the opportunity to rip our own hearts out to examine for a moment what transpired along with the actors that performed their parts in creating that lump of burnt coal that our hearts have become to maybe in hope come to terms with it... or at the very least let us know others have been to this crossroad and we are not alone...

Moral of the story: don't invite a cowboy to your card game.

Ditto, but I think being a Metalhead (I was raised on Black Sabbath in the '70's) seems to give you a tendency of being much more open-minded and welcoming to other genres of music. Dead South are brilliant. Give "King Crow and the Ladies from Hell" a spin too... sadly they only did the one album and a few videos. \m/ \m/

I actually walk that same bridge every week or so. Blew my mind when I found out they had come to my small town in Alabama to record, and did their album photo on an old railroad bridge turned into a walking trail over the Tennessee River.

Premieres at 3:00am here in oz. Thankfully I'm an insomniac!!!!!
