The Day John Lennon Died Part 1/3

Музыка

On December 8 1980 the news that John Lennon had been shot dead caused shock waves around the world. The Day John Lennon Died is a brand new documentary for ITV1 that commemorates the 30th anniversary of the former Beatle's death by revisiting the key moments of that fateful day.The film retraces John's steps on the day leading up to his murder through the strikingly vivid recollections of those who came into contact with him. It features often emotional interviews with key figures, from wife Yoko Ono Lennon recalling her final moments with her husband, and fan Paul Goresh who was to take the famous photograph of John with his killer, Mark Chapman, to the radio host to whom he gave his last interview, the record producer who recorded John's final piece of music with him on the day,,and the doctor who battled to save his life.

Once at a parole hearing, Chapman stated: "If John Lennon were alive today, he would have shown support for release." Doesn't it suck when the one guy who could have helped you get out of jail is dead because you shot him?

Frogy is Dope .......good for your folks and good for you! That’s precisely how I’ve always felt and sincerely hope there are still many of us who feel this way. I was an adult when John was murdered but my own mother (who would have been 90 years old now and was also a music-lover) loved The Beatles, particularly John and strictly forbade the use of his killer’s name in her presence. My friends thought she was joking but she was deadly serious and I always understood and agreed with her reasoning. The lunatic only wanted “fame” and didn’t care how he got it so to my mind, speaking his name only helps keep it (and his vile ways) alive. A “nobody” who chose to deprive the world of one of our most beloved Singer/Songwriters deserves absolutely nothing, least of all “remembering”. On the other hand, John left us a magnificent legacy, one that I seriously believe will *never* die.

@@GodyP Yes there is more to the story than just that. Yoko sold John's possessions at auction to punish her stepson Julian for taking her to court because she selfishly refused to share any inheritance with him claiming John didn't put him in his will, which was a blatant and vicious lie she's told on John, who was suppose to be "the love of her life!" Truth was John (who was trying to be a better man and father to Julian than what he'd been) provided for Julian, as well as his sisters Julia and Jackie, Aunt Mimi, and Uncle Charley. When John gave Yoko his power of attorney for business convenience purposes, she removed John's British kinfolk and didn't tell him knowing that he wouldn't think to ask. What is so foul is that Yoko let the world believe that John was a "deadbeat dad hypocrite" even in death, to his firstborn son, whom he was trying to reconnect and bond with! She sold Uncle Charley's house out from under him as well as the family house Julia and Jackie's grew up in which was suppose to remain theirs. Since she was forced to settle with Julian (her greed and stinginess toward him garnered her bad press and severely lessened the goodwill she gained since John's murder, she struck back by forcing Julian to use his settlement money to buy back John's belongings. Yoko, as "Mrs. Peace & Love" is a vile human being who hides behind empty "peace and love" rhetoric to mask her true self. Do the research!

That was the worst Christmas for me. Double Fantasy songs were all over the radio. I taped them off the radio and all I wanted for Christmas was the official tape or glossy album. We had an end of year concert and had been rehearsing our dance sequence to Starting Over relentlessly. When John was killed I cried for days in shock. I got the tape for Christmas. And cried. Our concert came around and we cried again. He had such an impact on our lives. Several decades later, I cry again. This man was no superior super human. He had flaws like everybody. But unlike anybody else, he was a presence that affected my whole life up until then in a positive way. Then the music died for me. A man who had just got back on track, who had reconciled with his eldest son, who was at the peak of his solo career was murdered.

+Jayden Castro "I heard that Yoko had forgiven Mark David Chapman!!! I wouldn't even do that!!! WTF!!!" I doubt that she has given MDC a second thought in any way, since that fateful day. But IF she has "publically forgiven" him, it was only to score points for herself and be perceived as being a "caring and merciful" humanitarian, which she IS NOT!!! So don't be fooled or bothered! Publically "forgiving" MDC would be easy for her, it would be an act, a performance, NOT REAL, in any way, because she doesn't care about him. "Forgiving" MDC, COSTS HER NOTHING, but may gain her plenty in peoples perception of her "selfless sacrifice and saintly heart". (pee yew!) I would be MORE impressed, if she were to publically and privately ADMIT to Julian, her decades of wrongdoing in her mistreatment of him and his mother Cynthia. THIS is something that would be extremely difficult for her, and ANY phoniness or insincerity on her part would be easily detected. She WOULD NEVER do this, because for her the cost is too high. She would LOSE FACE to humble herself like that to him, it requires a true heart to feel real remorse, to have real regret and that is just something she can't fake...even if really tried.

Lennon specifically expressed NOT to be cremated, but Yoko had him cremated anyway, and then moved her longtime lover, interior designer Sam Havadtoy, into her bed, in the Dakota home she shared with John Lennon, like a couple of days after Lennon's cremation, before his still warm ashes cooled! +Capybaraism Yes they had their faults, like everybody else does, they had their ups and downs too, like other people in relationships, I know that. But the love they started out with, lessened, then died. It happens. They made such a big deal and public spectacle out of having a "Love Of The Ages", and shoving it into everybody's faces, like no one had love as strong or as good as theirs. When their much ballyhooed love flame that burned bright, burned out, being the narcissists they were, they thought the general public cared enough to get upset about it. So they trotted out the frayed flag, "JohnandYoko myth" to wave and hide behind. Those closest to them have reported otherwise, that their marriage became a sham. It can happen to the best of couples and it happened to them.

John had an intellectual and heart connection to her. If you look at this video and hear her concept of the art, its easy to see why John admired her, John met her at her exhibit, in her own right she was establishing herself as an admired conceptual artist. People stop hating, they were soul mates!!
