And KZread changed their policies on how a video increases its view count. A person should watch at least 30 seconds of a video to increase its view count. KZread also won’t verify your view if you spam comments in a video. There are also theories that you can only increase the view count by 5 times in a single day in a single account.

They've really made a perfect little paradise for themselves. It's an infinite money maker, the artists that make the music get peanuts, yet they're forced to participate to have a chance of relevance. Ek and his cronies, as well as other scam artists, easily manipulate the system to siphon out money and the artists suffer for it. What this essentially does, is homogenizing music to an extreme. Fringe artists will forever be relegated to obscurity, while music devolves into a lowest common denominator system. These fringe artists can get millions of streams, but still can't even dream of living off the payouts (like our band). So, interesting artists that are trying to do something new, will not stick around as they can't earn a living off it. We are spiraling towards an age of muzak. And how would you even convince regular people that a scam of this magnitude is happening? And would they really care? From a consumer's viewpoint, Spotify is wonderful. They have all the music in the world readily available. Therein lies the genius of this lie we have been fed. The consumer still gets a great product, so why should they complain? It's left to us fringe artists, we're the ones who keep speaking up, but since we've been so systematically and effectively set aside--who will listen? But thank you, Slightly Sociable, for highlighting the issue! I don't know if we'll ever get out of this, for a lack of a better word--prison--but videos like this help an enormous amount.

I used to resort to this method before I had a job, and have since gone the route of paying for streaming services (first Apple Music then Spotify). I have since returned to my MP3 ways, mainly so I can listen on iPods (I thank Dank Pods for this) as well as having full control of my music library. I can control what I want on my devices and if I want it to stay in my library. We are going through a big issue with content ownership right now because of the big companies wanting to take away your ownership of your content so you just have to keep renting from them forever. MP3s and CDs are a great way to combat this. Also I have supported my favorite artists way more from going to one show, and buying a shirt than listening to them on streaming services, even if you pirate music.

It makes me wonder just how many other recent games with licensed soundtracks have had something similar. Other songs that were in NFS Heat didn’t seem to have that same thing happen, however there was an instrumental of a song that wasn’t even released until months after Heat came out which is a bit weird but not unheard of.

    3 жыл бұрын

@@slayerficated Totally depends on the recording if the mixing / mastering is crap then it wont matter really. as an example almost everything that was recorded in the 90s and early 00 is bad due to the "loudness wars" and compression look at it like this take a song that was compressed during mastering b4 going to CD, then someone ripp it to MP3, and compress it even further and then upload it to youtube that is a 3rd layer of compression result is not good so to answer you're question the main difference is soundstage, depth, Dynamic Range, and to me soundstage and Dynamic Range is most important but the more you compress the more you loose on all of these things. CD / Flac beats everything when it comes to these things yes i also have a MQA/ Tidal setup but to me Flac sounds better then MQA / Tidal some tracks sounds better on tidal with MQA but it is not enough to warrant the price tag it came with That is why many say that Phonograph's are the best way to listen to music because there is no alteration to the playback it is what they recorded and from that view they are correct but sound quality on those is crap xD *Edit* i should mention how compression work it basically compress all instruments and vocals so they are at same volume then they add Loudness to make it louder this is why it ruins Dynamic Range since it all is at same levels there is no dynamic 320kbps MP3 vs Spotify alone then spotify wins due to the compression MP3 adds but ogg vorbis that spotify use also compress the music but in a much "smarter" way but it is not MUCH better still beats MP3. CD vs Spotify CD wins hands down if there is no added compression and it is mixed with sound quality in mind and no added Loudness there is just nothing that will beat it as of now and since most artists still record for 16bit 44.1 only thing Tidal do is upsample to give you a placebo effect but when people start recording in 24 / 32 bit things will change drasticly but they wont do that until people start to care about audio

@@pappo666 I appreciate your well written reply. I asked because i'm skeptical on some level of audiophilia. One thing I'm yet to fully grasp is sound stage. I know that it means to be able to point out where things are physically placed in the mix, but I struggle to hear the difference in that regard between an mp3 and a lossless format. I would also like to mention that digital compression and audio compression are totally different things, and that digital compression usually doesn't effect the level difference between the quite and loud things. Have you ever blind A B X tested a song in different formats? My skepticism is based on the idea that the difference in quality is largely psychological, so I'd love to hear someone point out that in a particular frequency range a particular thing changed, or that a particular instrument now lacks a a particular quality, so that I can listen with sort of something to point my ears at. Thanks again, most people on youtube don't seem to care enough to actually think about what they're going to say, so reading your reply felt like a breath of clean air.

I think this happened to my spotify account once. Somehow when I would log onto my spotify account and look at what I was listening to there was random spanish songs that I had never listened to before in my life. I changed my password and it stopped but in retrospect I think my account was being botted from some kind of password leak with my username.

I hate to admit that my Spotify account was hacked about 2 years ago. I was suspicious for a while about it as suddenly my suggested songs (based on things I typically listen to) was of things that I *never* listen to. I typically listen to either 90s hip-hop or 2010s rap. Yet my suggested songs started switching to pop-country. Something I absolutely despise. I've never searched for anything like that, downloaded any songs like that, or would even be insane enough to listen to it. The dead giveaway was one day when I was trying to listen to some music (which was at an odd hour compared to usual). Whoever was hacking into my account decided that was also when they were going to try to play a specific song. It was basically an ear molesting war. I'd play a song, they'd overpower me, I'd overpower them, they'd overpower me, etc. After that day of frustration I had to contact Spotify so I could change both my email and my password. Luckily haven't had a problem since. I also still hate pop-country.

Just to give you guys an idea as to how Spotify actually pays for an artist that mostly self releases and only does label releases occasionally. I average 70 - 80 thousand individual listeners per month which bring me around 250 - 300 thousand streams. I earn between 500 - 800 dollars from that.

Over saturation from "artists" more interested in social media presence, views and followers has not only devalued the music indusrty but taken the meaning of being a hard working, talented and/or honest musician and pished it up against the wall. Everybody is now looking for that 30 seconds of fame or the ego trip of statistics. They are more satisfied by the sham exposure of views than the hard work it takes to be good at your craft. For every 1000 views you are lucky if 1 person actually listened to your song never mind enjoyed it. Clicking a love heart emoji does not help, but only further encourages this deluge. Online etiquette now has more say in how an artist is exposed more than any real talent.

I would argue that the music industry, and art as a whole, has ALWAYS been this way, we've just forgotten the 40's, 50's, and 60's equivalent of a clout chaser because they didn't do anything memorable, and the problem is far more visible due to social media. Before, the kid with a guitar that he didn't know how to play but pretended he was a musician only annoyed your hometown, but now, its everyone. The problem hasn't gotten worse, its just visible now.

  • @meangene408

@@pennyforyourthots Yes but now that kid can make a fortune just because he is annoying. Which then encourages 10,000 more annoying kids. Now I'm not saying annoying trends didn't happen before. There were always novelty songs and pointless trends but now everything has been condensed and is infinitely easier to distribute. That kid you are talking about could never have dreamed of this type of reach. Also, that kid had to buy a guitar, or at least inherit it, but the digital age has made it possible for absolutely anyone to be "annoying" and that's not just involving music. Then we get to the attention span aspect. We are that bombarded by media and "musicians" that most folk don't listen longer 10 seconds. They just click the like button out of habit. Instagram, for example, is enabling folk to live off of minute long bursts. That's not writing a song. That's not being talented. How many more videos of someone sitting with an accoustic guitar, murdering a one hit wonder do we need? This is encouraging folk to be lazy and profit. As long as your video can fit in some adverts you can profit. Not from fans or hard work but from statistics and advertising. These "talent" shows realised this decades ago. They realised CD sales were down, piracy was on the rise so what do they do? They popularise useless talent which costs them next to nothing, create hype and sell you phone call votes. I could go on if you like?

Don't be exploited by sites that make you do all the work but take your money whilst promising a career they can't possibly provide. Sites like Soundcloud etc don't reflect your talent nor your reach. Use them as a place to post ideas and not the final product as there are various ways to steal your music directly from there. And as I say, folk will click "like" on absolutely everything just to be polite so trust your own instinct. don't use social media as a barometer.
