The biggest mistake the Rebels made was actually trying to invade the Capital. They should have maintained the blockade until the Capital finally ran out of supplies.

@@ECLECTRIC_EDITSthere is a theory that the movie 2012 is in the same universe as the hunger games
I think looking at the Snow's perspective in the dark days really shows how his trauma informed why he ruled the way he did over the capitol and the districts.
I've always had a theory that the pox outbreak that nearly destroyed District 13 and killed Coin's family was actually a Capitol plot. How else could people as isolated as 13 have a viral outbreak? Maybe 13 wasn't dying off as fast as the Capitol hoped and they clearly wanted to reclaim it. In Mockingjay, Plutarch Heavensbee even tells Katniss (much to her shock and annoyance) about how biological warfare works.
@ina7107

I definitely believe this theory
@BryceLynch838
5 ай бұрын
@ina7107 Also, they couldn't just use a chemical attack like the fog on them because they would've survived it 100%. Then called in the treaty and simply nuked the Capitol. Bio weapons would be only way the Capitol could attack 13 and still have deniabilty. They would simply need to send an infected, "escaped" Avox into the woods near 13. With 13 out of the way, there would be nothing in existence to stop the Capitol. They had the means and the motive. Only it didn't quite work in the end. 13 still managed to survive but by the time of Mockingjay they still hadn't recovered all of their population.
I’d love to see Tigris get her own origin story - starting from the time Coriolanus apprenticed under Gaul at university, when Tigris & Coriolanus fell out & severed ties with each other & finally to the point where she helps Katniss & the rebels.
@alexharkness586

I find very possible that their falling out was due to Snow giving the winners to other people. Selling their bodies. Maybe it was a step too far to her. In TBOSAS is implied she sold herself to make end meet although never confirmed. And even if she didn't, the idea certainly passed through her head. Even if she didn't do it, it seemed so horrible and maybe she even tolerated the first few times Snow sold the winners, but eventually it became too much for her.

They didn't, no. But Rebellions tend to be emotional things, and it's very much on brand that the Rebels would be too impatient to wait for the Capital to starve to death. Also that they would want to KILL the Capital, not merely walk in there and clean up the corpses. An Army, lead by a General, at the behest of a Nation, can have the kind of discipline needed to do a long-term blockade, but rebels? That would be far more difficult to believe.

It would be cool if Collins did a book or a series of books exploring the Dark Days following the perspectives of various different characters so that we can get a full picture of what it was like during that time and to further expand on the world of Panem. Tbh the book (TBOSAS) talks a lot about what it was like since Coryo and Tigris grew up in the dark days. It was a lot of starving and even people eating each other. Pretty sure it’s implied that Tigris had to resort to selling her body at one point too. The brutality of the Dark Days was really important to Snow’s development. But If Collin’s were to write anything for it from a random capitol citizen’s POV I think a novella would suffice.

I think that the dark days are one of the most interesting loose ends of the hunger games. So many outcomes could have happened which makes it so interesting
I speculate that District 13 initiated the First Rebellion against the Capitol, and it seems quite convenient that they withdrew from the war, leaving the other Districts to bear the consequences. It appears that the primary objective of the First Rebellion was to secure independence for District 13. This was achieved by acquiring and stockpiling nuclear weapons, creating a situation of mutual destruction that afforded District 13 more time to organize a more successful rebellion. Moreover, the suffering endured by the other Districts as a result of their rebellion may have strategically positioned District 13 to manipulate and consolidate blind loyalty out of the Districts' hatred of the Capitol. This manipulation served to empower District 13 in orchestrating the overthrow of the Capitol, intending to replace the existing government with its own vision of governance. However, a notable issue arises with District 13's governance structure, characterized by isolation, strict control, and a robotic nature. While similar to the Capitol in prioritizing logic and obedience, District 13 lacks the emotional aspect, valuing these qualities over morality and free will. The blind loyalty aspect became more apparent when Coin wanted to do another Hunger Games on the Capitol's children to consolidate the Districts' hatred and blind loyalty. Overall, I think the leaders of District 13 envied the power of the Capitol and wanted to become the Capitol themselves and groomed successors like Coin to ensure their vision came to pass. However, their plans become ruined by Katniss when she executes Coin in front of all of Panem, likely marking many with the belief that Coin is as sinister as Snow.

No, District 13 also suffered oppression from the Capitol and initially they were standing with other districts. Why, they could have seized the Capitol's nukes from the beginning and just seceded. I don't blame District 13 for doing what they did. Ive always thought that, yes its possible that 'Panem' is the only surviving nation in the world, but at the same time that's exactly what the capitol would want people to believe. In TBOSAS, one of Snow's classmates (can't remember the name) father is the naval commander, and if there was only 1 nation left why is there a need for a navy? Additionally, Snow sees deserted cities on his train ride to D12 and wonders what they were once like, so its also possible that there would be small enclaves of people still scattered around these cities over both Panem and the world. Just a fun little observation and idea of mine. :)

Very complete ! Good job 👍 how do you know all this😮
Thank you. Someone finally talked about dark days
I’m starting to think Panem was inspired by the real life country of North Korea, there are so many similarities between the two. I’ve heard NK defectors talk about how the majority of the country is extremely poor and underfed, during famines there would be bodies all over the place, rats would be eating them, sometimes starving people would resort to eating them. The rest of the country doesn’t have reliable electricity or infrastructure, but the capitol, the city of Pyongyang, gives off the illusion of a first world country, and it said those that are loyal and in favor to the leader Kim Jung-Un get to live there and enjoy luxury and privilege. The current regime rules with brutality and fear and will punish or execute anyone that defies it, even in the smallest ways by associating with western culture, like watching a popular film or wearing a popular brand from the U.S. I don’t know if the extreme similarities between Panem and NK are intentional are not. Panem districts sound like Hell on Earth and it’s even more horrifying to learn that there’s actually a real place, currently on this Earth that is just like it.
A video on the Second Rebellion would be nice in the future.
Funny how District 13 was the ringleader for the rebels for both the first and second rebellion. At least they won the second time.

I've always wondered how the districts were formed. How America eventually turned into Panem and why there was a single capitol and 13 districts.

One thing I'm a bit confused about was whether or not District 1 and 2 where loyal to the Capitol during the first rebellion, or if they were part of the rebellion. Or it could be that while Districts 1 and 2 did initially side with the rebels, as the war turned towards the Capitol's favor, they switched sides, siding with the Capitol against the rebellious Districts in favor of better treatment. I'm not very knowledgeable on this subject but do educate me on the loyalties of District 1 and 2.

It might also be that at first, District 2 (and maybe 1) were a little tempted to join the rebel,but then decided not to join?
can you make a movie vs book on the ballad of songbirds and snakes?
Despite being the wealthiest district, district 1 is actually pretty rebellious. They were actually one of the first districts to rebel during the second rebellion. The only reason why they're a "Capitol friendly" district is due to the Luxury items they produce for the Capitol. And on the consequences of punishment, District 1 needs to keep producing Luxury and pleasure in return for the best living conditions and training for the Hunger Games. It seems as if being a tribute is a great honor and their victors are treated as heroes as due to a good portion of their population being brainwashed. But still many of them put up that front cuz if they don't, their punishment is probably worse than that of district 11
Can you please do a video on the vampire assistant by Darren Shaw?
They were so close!!
District 1 and 2 definitely weren’t always capitol favorites as we saw in songbirds many of them were extremely rebellious they didn’t become loyal towards the capitol when snow came to power
Are you still soon what if videos? If so I wanted to know if you would do a what if one based on coryolanus and Lucy gray Baird actually going north together
Something I was thinking about today I would really like to see a hunger games prequel series, like how Panem was formed and how America fail but I would really hate for it to be locked up Star Wars prequel movies
just to be clear, at 5:13, he meant like beaten, punched
I wanna see the events between song birds and snakes and the original hunger games, in district twelve, in this movie it seemed like industry was more apperent, and in the first hunger games, all you see is very poor, mountain people, what happened that caused that, did snow take his anger out on twelve? And restricted everything?
I think the reason behind why District 2 still participated in the games despite being the Capitol's ally is because since 2 is a large district with villages based around a mine, the outer villages were the ones that rebelled while the inner villages didn't. The outer villages weren't as strong, unified, or prosperous as the inner villages. The Capitol seeing that knew they could somehow manipulate the inner villages as a stronghold for control if they were to win the war. So when the Capitol did actually win the war, they provided all of District 2 with good living conditions. But since part of the district did rebel, they used that as something to stand on making it seem like that despite their "loyalty", it was they who were responsible for participating in these games. And provided those good living conditions as a way to make it look like the hunger games were a competition of honor when they weren't. This also explains why the Nut which was located in the center of the village was the last Capitol stronghold to fall when the rebels easily secured the outer villages
It would be cool to see a movie about the dark days
The worst part is, the rebels came so close to winning, only for victory to escape from them. If the rebels had waited for just a few more months, they could have choked the capitol into submission and forced them to surrender.
you know now i know why snow hate katniss because she remined him of her d 12 girlfriend
This is why ı feel the Rebels were almost as awful as the Capitol.Coryo and other Capitol children were just kids,too they did not deserve to go through that.Having said that,of course it does not justify his actions later on.And later on Coin and the rebel team was also just as awful if not more.
