I used to attend a cult hiding behind the name church but what surprises me is we used to sing gospel worship songs and the so called ‘holy spirit’ would begin to manifest.

Thanks for sharing. Can relate as evidenced by the following sentences delineating how we use music to stir up faith, and to deal with spiritual attacks. The negative influences of this world are designed to make our heart sick through emotional & physical pain resulting in a given person turning to music as one source of comfort to the body. The painful realty of this existence gives rise to the birth of music in two forms, earthly & HEAVENLY. Earthly music speaks to the experiences of this world through the singer-song writer’s eyes. Oftentimes drug use (i.e. alcohol, smokes, marijuana, cocaine, opioids, benzos and propofol to name a few) is intertwined with the survival of an artist to deal with the pressure of performing in order to stay relevant in the music industry, and to serve as fuel for creativity. As a result, music celebrities develop a tendency to sin against their body, through excessive drug use, for not measuring up to or to satisfy the demands of their music. Any earthly joy they experience is darkened by the heavy burden of performing and the loss of privacy. The end users of their music become fans because the lyrics are relatable and the sound of the singer’s voice & rhythm helps them cope with the pains of this reality. Unfortunately, this band aid approach is only a time out from the hurt and in the meantime we are fortifying its wall with painful memories waiting in line. Who can save us from wounds that are silent, wordless and cruel all the while tearing us apart inch by inch on the inside, which could radically accelerate the demise of the human body? I will use caps as emphasis to show the honest reverence for GOD'S SOVEREIGNTY when writing about HEAVENLY music in the paragraphs below. That INVINCIBLE DIVINE be our HEAVENLY FATHER, WHO THROUGH HIS SON’S MISSION HAS INSPIRED believers to write songs that sing of HIS LIFE GIVING LOVE to deal with emotional & physical pain, economic instability, mortality and the emotional instability of others with the motive of winning over souls for HIS KINGDOM. The melody & theme of HEAVENLY music is hateful and intolerable to the devil, a spirit which causes us to be blinded of the effects of sin and is responsible for the woes of this world such as melancholy, anguish, tribulation and trial. These agitations of the soul create a heavy burden for the lost and could lead him or her to be hostile of songs that sing about GOD’S GLORY. This makes it clear that we cannot win the spiritual battle by our own strength. Moreover, on earth the devil has no equal. GOD has provided us with the ONE WHO CAN AND WILL LIFT the heavy burden of sin's guilt from a given sinner's heart if he or she (through faith) would open their understanding to Psalms (starting with the focus on Psalms 51:1-10 KJV), and hymns/songs giving praise to HIM for the purpose of being persuaded, converted and healed by the HOLY SPIRIT from within by transforming your body/temple into a meeting place for you and the KING OF THE AGES to commune as friends through the born again experience (repentance manifesting itself in a changed life). It is only here that the fears of tomorrow will diminish, the blessed assurance is given that you are HIS and HE LIVES. Once the blessed assurance is known in prayer (through the confession of wanting salvation from one’s sinful nature, combine with admitting that JESUS CHRIST is LORD and believing in one’s heart that GOD raised HIM from the dead to deliver us from sin's guilt) the world can never take it away because the world didn’t give it to you.

I fill my heart with worship songs and even when I am silent; my heart still sings praises to God. What we sing or listen to plays in our spirit for days.

Eminem is divided. He has true songs of worship like 'When im gone'. Its a song of 'lament' as mentioned in this video, but he truly express his love and worries for his daughter. The person he loves the most. Thats a powerful worship. Further Em states in the song: 'And when I'm gone, just carry on, don't mourn Rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice Just know that I'm lookin' down on you smilin' 'And when im gone...Im looking down on you smiling' implies he thinks he goes to heaven or wants to go to heaven to look down on his smiling daughter. Then 'lose yourself' has curse words, and stuff like 'when the souls is leaving from a portal he created' not just pure lyrics. But he also says he there is a lonley road, god only knows'... Like i said, eminem being divided. Same goes for 2pac, which has clear references to the bible like 'gettho gospel' which is also a lamenting song from a christian perspective, that 'wants to end the bloodbath' but cant. Its like a prayer praying for god to give him strengh to overcome his sins. And only god can judge me is a call to people in sin thinking they are better than him. I wouldnt say that Eminem is Anti Christian per se, although he has influences like that. I'd say he's a lukewarm christian, but with some good songs!

I wish I was more careful what I listen to when I was younger. Eventually I started acting out those sins and going down the wrong path. But now I have to clean up my mess. But the difference is that I know that I have the Lord to help me and that I don't have to do it alone. I had a dysfunctional family and childhood. I can't control what happened in the past but I can control what happens in the present and what I control in the present will determine my future! I am not saying that it is going to be an easy road because we all have things we need to work on and we all have shortcomings but with the Lord, anything is Possible! I can personally testify to this: Going to Chris Brown's 'Under the influence' concert was a real wake-up call for me...from the triangle or hand with the eye in the middle to depictions of egyptian gods and robots with red eyes saying 'you're now under my influence'..it had it all as background visuals, while he sung, along with hypnotizing colorful imagery. As a christian, who is actually spirtually aware of these things of the music industry, I willingly subjected myself to that, in the name of 'oh, he's just an artist I've liked since i was a kid, what's the biggie?' Well, the biggie was that night, i had the most intense and frightening spiritual warfare of my life!! An invisible, powerful and negative force was keeping me down, I couldn't move an inch, total paralysis! Yet i knew to call for Jesus, even though it looked like a nightmare, my conciousness was fully there and operating. And a calm voice from the force said 'This time he's not coming'..and let me tell you i panicked so hard and spoke out every piece of scripture i knew, like my life depended on it, before i was eventually released against a lot of resistance, to the point where it felt like they were drowning me, so i couldn't speak His name anymore!😢 But yeah...since then I've been taking the spiritual world VERY seriously along with what i expose my gates to! I definitely don't want to go through that again, because it just shows you, how helpless you are, since you can't move and there literally is no other weapon to fight them with but The Word and His name...JESUS!

And now "coincidentally" all of the most demonic and evil songs by Taylor Swift, Doja Cat, and other artists I used to like, are getting stuck in my head WAAAYY more often. I get this urge to listen to these songs when they were never even my favorites, some little voice saying "just play it once". It sounds so dramatic but it's literally like a drug. And it happens SPECIFICALLY with songs with the most anti-biblical lyrics??? Nahhhh bro. Idk exactly HOW this music afflicts us but this is way too demonic and suspicious for me to ever go back. I agree! The eyes and ears are gateways to the soul. I am very careful of what I watch and listen to now. A couple of weeks ago I felt like I was under a spiritual attack. When I made the decision to start back reading God’s word and talking to God, my spirit was uplifted. I made the decision to be careful of what I listen to and watch. I haven’t had the feeling of depression, anxiety, fear, and doubt since I decided to stay in the presence of God. God gives me perfect peace and I am so thankful!

I will never sing along to songs like highway to hell ever again. I refuse to worship Satan with the boomers.. I don't listen to Howard Stern either is that father ever going to grow up and father the three daughters he has? Boomers love sin they love it. Tony Sparano great human being murder such a great Christian Italian family owns all the stirp clubs right so cool if you want to end up in hell right.. Hi Do you want to be set free from the hold of secular music? Dear the Bible say in James 3vs 11-12 11 Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water? 12 Does a fig tree produce olives, or a grapevine produce figs? No, and you can’t draw fresh water from a salty spring. We cannot offer praises to God and offer praises to the devil on the same lip. Secular songs carry a negative spirit so we must purge ourselves from them. Firstly, you need to take the bold step and delete all the secular music from your phone so you won't be easily tempted to Fall. Then you download gospel songs that carries life and truly edifies. I recommend Hillsong, Victoria Orenze, Nathaniel bassey songs. Listen to them until you find joy in them. If you need help or you have questions kindly send reply.

I absolutely agree pastor. I love EDM and a lot of non-vocal electronic music, but I’ve been seeing a trend growing for the past couple years where the music that used to be described by many as uplifting, is now growing darker. Many of the musicians are also embracing the transcendence of the human into the artificial machine & AI. Now, many of the artists I used to love are creating music that fills me with negative thoughts. It’s clearly the tentacles of evil slowly consuming another area of access to us believers. Every time I see another musician go dark I stop following. It breaks my heart, but I don’t need more darkness in this already dark world. Music is incredibly powerful in so many ways that science is just now realizing, just as the Bible has shown us for two thousand years! Thank you for shining a light of this!!!

I have known about the darkness of music since 2009. Secular music has been on and off for me because I grew up in a musical household. I also use to throw parties from middle school to college and help DJ so God really had to do a work in me of letting go of memories and emotions which are attached to music as well. I notice now every time I am down that's when i get the urge to listen to something nostalgic and i put on something Christian instead. Music has many spirits that are not of God and can hinder your walk.

Thank God, in the end, I decided not to listen to that music and instead, I started writing in my journal about what God is doing in my life. A few days after that, my husband had a dream that he was cleaning his ears and they were very dirty. He said that he interprets the dream to mean that he needs to be careful what he listens to. Left my ex-husband 18 years ago. Over the years he was listening to worse music all the time. And he was bringing home movies that he would watch after i went to bed. Horror movies. Pornographic movies. Many with odd music i could hear from the bedroom. And he was becoming more and abrasive and abusive over the years. But he could not see it. When i would look in his backpack, and see what kind of movies he was bringing home, i would beg him not to bring such things thru the door. He didnt care. Eventually i had to leave him. Because he would not even open up to his abuse in a counselors office. He could not go to church and understand how his life was so far removed from the life of Christ. He became a liar. And abused our son on a visit with him. He stole $ from one of my investments before i got my hands on it. So do i believe that certain kinds of music can ruin ones life !?!? Yes indeed

He said that he had an overpowering spirit come over him that was similar to the anointing, only opposite of the Holy Spirit that he had felt before he backslid. He realized that was an evil spirit and that he didn’t want anything to do with it. Praise the Lord he came back to God and became an awesome, anointed preacher, and singer for the Lord. He was my pastor as s young teenager and was instrumental in my spiritual growth and development as a young Christian. That’s been 40 years ago. Your message is right on target pastor. No discernment too when it comes to listening to "Christian" music. Most of them are drenched in the prosperity false teachings, and the new age/occult. ESPECIALLY the "worship" bands. Jesus Culture, Hillsong etc.

This applies to movies (what we watch) as well. There's this movie on Netflix that I really wanted to watch because I heard it had a really good story line and yesterday I started watching it and I just felt uncomfortable in my spirit. I stopped watching it but then I was still contemplating whether I should watch it or not because I really wanted to know what it was about. I decided not to rush and watch it then this video popped up today. I won't be finishing the movie because of how I felt in my spirit and the fact that from the first few scenes, it seems to be portraying some form of sexual perversion. The name of the movie is "Her".

Great point. Glad you brought this up. A movie I recently saw that I wish I didn't was The Northman. Basically heavy pagan content, and the background music had lots of old Nordic chant from the medieval times that left me uncomfortable. I watched it because I enjoyed most of the main cast but i should've stopped right away. The constant chanting and pagan rituals felt demonic plus the violence that involved body mutilation made for a heavy watch. The director also made The Witch which I didn't see but it has satanism everywhere from the reviews I read.

@@rajivlewis5895 It just felt dark and demonic but I was able to pray afterwards to get the chants out of my mind, since the chanting happened right when the film started and all the way through. I agree with you it seems like the more violent a movie/TV show gets, the more viewers would tune in. But I notice there are secular movies that still holds Christian values and/or uplift the good, like The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Narnia movies, The Lion King, superhero films that don't glorify non-biblical values in their plot. These are the types my fellow believer friends still watch. We can also watch and find what is wrong with certain scenes and share with others.

I also listen to some newer Christian music like Charity Gale, Chris Tomlin, David Phelps, Big Daddy Weave, etc. I do still listen to some secular oldies music though like Jackie Wilson, Ann Murray, the Staples, the Commodores, etc. I think it is what you think about when you listen to the music that makes the difference. “Your Love Keeps Lifting me Higher” by Jackie Wilson always makes me think of God and is such an uplifting tune!

Secular music has been and still is one of the biggest battles of my walk that I’m currently facing- it controls my thoughts! And GOD has revealed to me It places me in “altered state of consciousness” it causes me to “trance out” and disassociate I’ve been trying to over come this for a couple of years now and god has freed me many times only I keep returning like a dog returning to its vomit. After doing studies and lots of research on music we listen to today especially modern pop and hip hop the “beat” can be as addictive as cocaine. It hits the same Endorphins in the brain as a class A drug. I definitely know this is an addiction in my life and every day is a struggle. I also heard that these pop stars that worship Baal have also cast spells on there music lyrics. They also speak through back masking.

As a single mother things are so hard on me. Both of my sons are autistic I’m overwhelmed. God please hear my prayers. I’m constantly struggling to buy groceries and constantly struggling to pay rent I’m ashamed and overwhelmed. But I choose to have faith over fear as christians that’s all we can do. No matter your struggle, you can turn to God. He knows us personally and can give us strength to overcome our challenges. Heavenly and merciful Father, I come before your glorious throne today, in humble adoration please help me overcome my struggles and my constant fear of homelessness. You have provided this far and I’m so grateful for your love and mercy. I will continue to walk with faith! And not by sight!❤

A few months ago, I felt led to delete ALLLLL the music from my Apple Music account that was not Gospel music. I play my gospel music exclusively and I jam out to it, cry and worship while I’m driving and my 11 year old loves it.
