Alright, while I wish you read my full comment, here's a critical mechanic you need to master. goods storage settings. Right now, you only use the default setting "accept" on everything. You need to organize your warehouses, tanks and piles. Some storage areas should be set to supplying (this would be where those resources are produced/harvested), others should be receiving (where those resources are consumed). Accept should only be used on central storage areas, where you want to store resources in bulk.

You should make yourself like a check list for the bad tide and the droughts, so you know instantly which dams and pumps to close and which to open. You can even designate a reservoir that you can still pump out of during the drought. Make sure you update the list regularly. Thanks for the great content, I love it!

I wish this part was automated. It would be so simple to add a few if, then statements, that when a bad tide or drought starts or ends, a beave raises or lowers a dam. This 'feature' seems like more of a chore to me then a fun mechanic after ~10 droughts. One of the reasons I'm not buying this great game.

A tweak i would recommend would be to free up space and workers by getting rid of a lot of your berry storage and berry fields. Your storage capacity for berries went from 1.3k to 2.5k in this episode, but your beavers don't eat berries anymore. The beavers will only eat berries if there is nothing else to eat. Since your carrot and potato supply is enough to feed the beavers, your berries are untouched, and thus you're wasting space on storage, and manpower... err.. beaverpower as gatherers that are no longer needed. And all that greenspace being taken up by berry bushes can be used for more food production of the things they are eating.

@@vulcanfeline This is true, but not for eating, only for baby making. If he was playing the iron teeth my comment would have been slightly different. But even as iron teeth, 2.5k berries stockpiled is WAY more than is needed (about 2.4k more) and you can get away with one small to medium patch of berry bushes and a single gatherer to sustain decent growth.

I would like to suggest that in some of the places you are building supports to put a structure partially on top of it, you can put some small warehouses. This way you can use the space, hide some of the storage places and have the food closer to the beavers workplaces.

Would you look at that, episode three. And I'm early. Alright. I'll do as last time. Meanwhile, since watching your last episode, I started a new game, on hard. First I played on hard since the badwater was added. So my mind is a bit more fresh on strategies right now. Different map though, so maybe not as applicable. Anyway, let's resume my harsh judgement on just how much of a newb Karalis is. >:D 0:50 Acually, yes. It's gonna be very resource heavy. But clear those birch trees there, and build levees along the edge of the map. Water cannot leave the map from a tile with a watersource, but it can at any other edge. So you can build up a reservoir right there, and water will build up above the source-stones. 3:40 Replace one of those dams with a 1-height floodgate, and you'll have a small reservoir, presuming you get some inflow into that dry river. 4:00 When making a temporary crossing, use stairs and paths instead. You lead a population of beavers. They don't mind a short swim, in fact they prefer it. Wet fur is one of their secundary needs, its fullfilled though being in water, or a shower. Also, making stairs are much cheaper than a brige of platforms. 4:26 Good catch. That is also the downside of the above. You should however still do so. you can demolish a stair to prevent a beaver from entering badwater. 5:30 Good job. That is the start of a good dam. However, replace the top levees with dams (building). That way you get much safer overspill protection. 5:38 Beavers can reach one block up, and infinitely downwards. So yes, the beavers can reach that construction. 9:07 Good plan. Here's how to improve it. Use levees to funnel the waterflow into the waterwheels. 9:17 Yeah, like, replace those platforms you just placed with levees instead. That will create a slight funnel, and improve the power output. 10:56 You'll be fine, it will be over in 1.2 days. But imagine if this was 10 days. you'd run out of food. This is when you want to have an emergency fluid dump, to activate when you need just a little bit of water to run your farms. 11:15 You want to use levees here instead. you don't need water going though here, in fact you very much DO NOT want that. It would just be wasteing the water. You got that planned dam (structure) by the river to dump badwater. This is what you need to learn. Dam-buildings let water pass though it at half-block. Levee buildings let water though when it goes fully over it, at a full block height. Moreover, a levee is cheaper to build than a dam. 11:22 And now floodgates? What are you doing, Keralis? That is a bad plan, and a waste of resources. 13:38 You want to set those to supply, so your haulers know what to do. That is unless you intend to also build your smelter there as well. Highly recommend you place down a watertank set to recive there as well. That way, your scrappers won't go all the way back to the colony center just for a sip of water. 14:39 Whaaat? You wanna do a what to the beavers? But let's say, hypothetically, you just set up a new city district far away, in the middle of nowhere, open up the transfer menu, and move all contaminated beavers there, with no food or water, then hypothetically that should solve that problem But you would never do such a thing, would you? That would be evil.. DO IT! EMBRACE THE DARK SIDE OF THe.. uhh.. beaver colony management power. 16:54 Congratulations. That looks like a fine reservoir. But it still needs work. you want to protect that reservoir water from the badtides. 19:42 And here is one of the annoying small bits of the game. The beavers can buld downwards, but they cannot demolish downwards. Your beavers won't reach that berry bush. Either temporarally remove those stairs, or make a platform-bridge from that dam. 20:13 Ahh. Keralis' first acidental flood. We all do it at first. It takes a while to learn how to avoid those. Good thing you cought it early. That could have gotten real ugly. 20:32 I belive I gave this tip last episode. When you build-and-forget a floodgate for use later, set the height to 0 right away, to avoid nasty suprises, like the one you just had. 24:00 As of right now, height does not have any effect of windmills. I don't think that will change. This game prefers to "invent its own physics". As it prudly says on the gravity battery. 24:20 That said, a raised windmill does look better. As folktails, you should be producing some paper at this point. you should look into that. 30:28 That one small warehouse cannot be reached. But I'm sure you'll notice that soon enough. 32:22 Aaaaand the penny drops. 33:16 You are in a crisis. You haven't learned this mechanic yet, it seems, but this is the time to crank up the work-time from 16h to, say 20h. you can (and should) reduse it back later. 34:38 Adding more pumps will only be marginally helpful. A thirsty beaver works slower. Ironically, if the beaver at the pump is thisty, it will get the water it needs much slower. Which is why you want longer worktimes, not more workplaces. 40:00 Again, you need to set that pile to recive, so your hulers know what to do. Right now, the scappers will just fill the local piles, once those are full, they will drag their scrap, ony by one, all the way to the new underground pile you are building her. Meanwhile your smelter-beavers will walk all the way to your scrapper's piles to get scrap metal.

it used to be that you could only do things so far from the city center district before building a new district but now you don't. now it just means how far you are from the city center district, with red being the furthest

I've never heard anything more accurate to politicians than his spin on the beavers having died due to starvation. Like his actions directly resulted in their deaths and yet he blames them and continues to claim he's a 'good mayor'. 😂

Quite frustrating to see him delete his water wheels only to rebuild them in the same, inefficient setup (even more inefficient as now 2 squares of the channel aren't powering them at all).

@@nicholasyetoI'm with ragerancher on the part with water wheels, tho I never played, but watched a lot of other let's plays. His first BIG mistake was not to read descriptions of all items that he can build before building anything. Next: rebuilding waterwheels will give profit if he do high shafts on levees

We watch Keralis because we like to see him have fun. If you’re not watching because it’s Keralis playing and having fun, then there’s no reason for you not to watch other KZreadrs. The energy and positive attitude of Keralis is what keeps us watching his videos, and that energy will only stay if he gets to make the content he wants to make.
