    It's turned into an archaeological dig...which is a very exacting, time consuming process, no doubt subject to procedural rules. The 'treasure ' here is the historical data, whether they find gold and jewels or not.

    The swamp was a bay before the erosion from the years of farming and then treasure digging turned it into a swamp. The road was likely built in the 1720s as a log drag where logs floated from the mainland and other islands were drug by oxen up to the tar kilns. The logs were loaded into the tar kilns and destructive distillation was used to make tar, turpentine and other naval stores for the Royal Navy and British merchant marine. The material was strained by running it through coconut fibers. Before petroleum, this was how we obtained these materials. Since they were cutting virgin forests with trees growing before Columbus, the Carbon14 is going to be early.

    That’s the thing for me. I want the story. I want the history. I want to know what happened on Oak Island in the distant past. It’s not the gold I’m waiting for. It’s where the gold came from and who brought it there, and why. That’s my real interest.

    Hi Rick and Marty...Shamefully I just subscribed, but I have been watching the show since day ONE and have never given up hope that you guys will solve the mystery. The truth about the history of what happened there is equally as valuable as the potential treasure. this show has greatly encouraged me to keep going on a large personal project that I have been working on now for almost 4 years. Even though I do not believe there is any connection between the two stories it is scary sometimes when I see the same dates and some of the same names come up in my reaserch. I will continue to be a "Loyal Acorn" and support you to the completion of your goals. Good Luck Laura

    So you don't consider gold and silver content in the water as proof there's something...or the metal detector at the bottom of the shaft the finished rebuilding beeping and saying non feris as in non magnetic...gold and silver are non magnetic. No they don't have gold and silver coins yet but that have found residues of gold in the water from bore holes near the money pit plus they've hit voids 90-100 feet deep that are at least 7 feet tall they believe is a tunnel running beside the shaft. They have plenty of evidence to suggest there is some sort of gold or silver deposit down there somewhere it's traces are in the water.

    Having worked with 3-point rigging I can tell you what the chain tells me. The "stretched" link I have seen before in Chinese weak steel. Pulls apart like putty. I see the scenario where this was holding a weight and suspended from a gantry crane. When the link parted, the released tension would have shot the rigging into the air. Very dangerous situation in Construction. I couldn't see anyone leaving a man-made chain behind. Too valuable. This chain was shot into the air like a rubber band, lost, and landed there to be found. My 2 cents.

    Not necessarily long gone. Remember that the Money Pit along with the alleged Chappell Vault collapsed into the cavern(s)/void over 150 years ago and any contents would be underwater. Personally, I believe "they" are deliberately avoiding excavating and retrieving "whatever it is" because that might solve the Oak Island mystery and end this top-rated lucrative show.

    Oak Island is a unique land anomaly here on Earth whereas whatever was buried in the Money Pit, formerly a deep open sinkhole that somehow connected to the cavern(s), was placed there over one thousand years ago when the sea level surrounding Oak Island was somewhat lower. Today with the slowly-rising sea level surrounding Oak island everything including the caverns, voids and the cave/niche entrances at the shoreline are all underwater and inaccessible. "Whatever it is" is not "treasure" per se. It is religious in significance and most probably a tomb. It was never meant to be recovered.

    When one wants to hide the loot, they would put in place which is secure, but at the same time its easy for them to recover. Based on all the evidences found, I might say that Oak island was a swampy place, a convoy of ships came there for some repairs, but in order for the place to be convenient, for repairs, they had to cut trees to build a pier & other basic infra to move the cargo from the ship thus making repairs possible & easy. So the people in convoy built the infra, stacked the cargo for which they build that basic road on swamp, they cut the wood around thats needed for the repairs, they might have built a forge to make basic spikes to fix the repair planks. The ships were repaired, the cargo put on it again, some of it fell during movement, and the convoy moved off. the forged chains are for lifting the load from ship to the cart to move to shore, also to lift the heavy logs that would be required for repairs. IF you assume that people spend few months to build money pit, where they might need a month to recover the "stash" its stupid. Its desolate island, but importantly the "crew" did not control it, so what is the point to put their stash on some place that they cannot control?

I find it ridiculous because he’s supposed to be an employee doing a job, when he’s on that island he shouldn be metal detecting. end of story

    It's sort of interesting them finding those old wooden barrel staves as it gives a clue as to the history of Oak Island. The barrels almost certainly contained rum that was brought to the island by ship either by privateers or by smugglers.

    No the treasure isn't in the ship, if there even is one buried in the mud & silt? Maybe a row boat? I don't think there is a treasure chest, but rather all these muddy tunnel shafts left behind, from early American Native and the later explorers & voyagers looking to find precious metals.............................

    This Reality TV show is not about getting answers or completely solving the Oak Island mystery. To do this would end the show..... If they really wanted to get answers, particularly with the swamp and the mysterious stone road, they need to get Archaeologist Laird Niven and his team together with the Geoscientists and Geophysicists from the Geological Survey of Canada to join forces to examine and determine the purpose of all of that massive construction in the swamp. Additionally, the provincial government should allow these professionals to examine the adjacent islands (with the owners permission) if only to gain an archaeological perspective as it might relate to Oak Island and get some answers as to the Oak Island mystery. We can only hope.......

    How do they get money out of finding wood underground... 11 seasons and the most find was chains and some coins they found on the surface.

  • @douglasmills3844
    @douglasmills38443 ай бұрын

    The chain or part of it dates from *1900's, not the 1600's. I have chains from the 1870's that are more OVAL in links OOOOO. I see on this chain or *part of it, being vertically straight with the half circle ends. So it could be two chains linked together, one part of it older 1800's and the other 1900's. Carmen doesn't know the age of chains that well???

    It's not "treasure" per se. Whatever it is that was buried/concealed deep within the Money Pit in the very distant past was obviously never meant to be recovered. It's most probably a religious tomb.
