Each member gets an individual score but they all add up to the teams total score. Crossfit really needs to fix itself. The fact that when an athlete on a team gets hurt they can either work through it or the team is basically screwed is terrible. If a QB in football goes down they don't just play with 10 men. Crossfit should allow 1 emergency replacement male and female fore each team.

That would certainly make sense, but I guess it would also warrant more injuries. In football, athletes will put themselves (or be put by their team) into more danger because they're replacable. In crossfit, you're supposed to play it safe, and not get injured. Because staying healthy should always be more important than winning. I think that's a pretty healthy mentality.

+Yedaiah I disagree having an athlete compete in a sling (2014 Final) is not only dangerous and ridiculous but damaging to the sport and shows people that Crossfit as a sport deem that as acceptable.

This would never work though. Teams would just fake injuries so they had well rested athletes towards the end. They should have been disqualified so they didn't put the remaining athletes at risk, by doing events that weren't made for that few people. This is just an obvious risk and why the athletes need to be more careful when competing in a team setting. alternates would ruin team competition.

@@noonewillnoo they didn't state athletes should keep competing, they suggested that a replaceable mentality would make athletes less focussed on risks and more willing to put themselves in an injury causing situation out of fear of being replaced, Their comment hasn't been edited, I'm not sure how you got that from it, they don't mention being injured.

don't you think it was a little bit unfair to have had so many individual-scored events on the Team Division?

Oscar Lazaga No. Every individual is isolated, everyone must go, so you get the composite of the entire team.

nah, it means weaker team filler members will actually hurt the team more and can't be carried through. The only sort of downside to this was Norcal couldn't compete, which was a plus, being a person down opened the other athletes up to injury because the events weren't designed for this kind of competing, watching the slug with the 2 females was painful and a strain injury was such a huge factor, the team should have been disqualified at that point. It also could have hurt Mayhem because they clearly had a filler member on their team, which shows just how great they competed.
