The Critical Importance of NOT Speaking in the Practice

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

At the time of the Buddha, there were numerous sects of ascetics wandering the land of ancient India.
Most of them have been described as kind of noisy and oftentimes as ``making a racket'' or ``sounding like a band of fishermen''.
However, the Noble Sangha of the Buddha has always been described as ``fond of silence'' or simply as quiet.
We speak all the time and maintain our ignorance through that.
Thus, the Buddha was fond of silence and placed limits on speech.
Speak only with a purpose preferably on Dhamma.
Basically everything else is a hindrance and it would be better to remain silent.
Practicing Right Speech will inevitable lead to silence most of the time.
If you only speak for Dhamma purposes, you might even be silent for days on end!

Man, I could not agree more. I would say less talking and having moments in a Quiet surrounding are important too. I’m going through a situation now where my brother is living with me till he gets out of trouble with the law. His Tv on all night and his talking about his court case along with his cigarette smoke smell had made it a hard six months that he has lived me. I also tell my mom to get off the phone and give herself some times of silence. In the Tao Te Ching it says to much talking weakens the body, and soul. Another great video here! Thanks man!, You seem like a pretty cool dude. I got chewed out on a Hindu Chanel for making a similar comment to the Guru. Is saying cool dude wrong speech, Lol 😊, I hope not. I do get a kick out of people calling you out on misspelled word or the speed at which you talk. I myself think you speak perfect and a misspelled word is fine with me. If this text were spoken, I think maybe I’ve spoken to much 😮☸️☯️☸️

in english spake is King James/Shakespearean era to denote words spoken in past, and there is no spaking word. but in the active present of conducting a practice, it would be importance of not speaking

@@johncraftenworth7847 Ah, yeah, I thought so lol. I studied Shakespearean English at uni, but I didn't remember that one. It makes sense though. "Speak - spoke" is "spreken - sprak" in Dutch.

Hey man! Not trying to be rude, but your speech got worse over time. Its harder to understand you than it was at the beginning of your channel. Please check for stroke symptoms with a doctor. I recently lost someone to this and speech was the first factor, but we only really noticed in hindsight its stroke related.

@@mdtian1114 Well, I can try, but then there is always the option to just watch on 0.75% speed. I kinda have to find a sweetspot that suits "most people", which is not an easy task
