From what I can tell, the Song of Roland is a poem (& a long one at that). You can find it told on KZread as an audiobook, but if you want a tune for it, I found an English rock version done of it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pp6I0Lltc7PaeMo.html

Very nicely done. I didn't understand it, but the instrumentation was very good. I'm still going for Czech though.

Did I request Norwegian? I'm pretty sure I requested Finnish. ;-) Not that I'm really complaining. This was a kick-arse version of the song anyway. Love it!

Now here's an interesting idea...try a song in a Native American language, like Navaho or Inuktatuk.

Harald Foss sings a version pretty similar to yours, albeit I think there's a pretty low chance for a worldly song of that time and place to have its melody recorded, as musical literacy was extraordinarily rare. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fKWr0M2ah7zZgNI.html

As much as I'd LOVE to see Creepy Bard do a song in my (our?) native tongue... I wonder if the language is old enough. It's weird to think that there are songs surviving to this day that are older than entire languages....

That would be Xhosa. :-) The others also use clicks, but Xhosa has the widest variety of them, and is a notoriously difficult language to learn as a result.
