I use credit cards for everything, but I pay them off every month. I use them to get cash back. I have been debt free for years. I have no house payment, no car payment. The only bills I have is for monthly reoccurring utility bills and what I charge to credit cards that I pay off every month. Things are getting much worse, and I wouldn't charge anything if I couldn't pay it off when the bill comes.

A lot of places no longer accept cash, especially if you use fast lane check out, my dentist only takes card upfront for deductible ( lot of people around here go to doctor/ dentist under someone else name, they end up getting arrested for identity theft) they're that dumb

That money for charging stations was probably used to shore up the states underwater pension system.

A friend of mine just bought a house, paid 300k cash, now he only has about 5k left to his name. He is now pretty much cash poor. Go Figure"

I assume he already has a car, furniture etc if he managed to amass that much cash so why is it a bad idea? With no rent he only has to pay taxes/utilities and he has a safe, secure roof over his head.......hopefully. Imo being completely debt free is a cornerstone of being able to prepare and protect yourself against what may or may not be heading our way. We were cash poor for a lot of years but eventually all of the saving etc paid off big time and now we can sit back and enjoy life.

People live to what they make so Yes people that Gross 100K or 200K & up could be as broke as someone making 50K..

I guess if you have money, it doesn’t matter. My neighbor just went out and bought saddlebags for $3K for his new motorcycle. I don’t know if I’m the crazy one thinking the economy is going to collapse. Like 27-year-old nephew just went out and bought a new Corvette for $100,000 but he paid cash for it.
