The CRAZIEST Country Music Songs! Episode 1

Hey y'all, this is Kevin from CMTM! Buckle up because we're about to get wild with some of the craziest country music songs ever! Episode 1!
There's a whole bunch of jokes out there about country music, usually from folks who haven't even given it a listen. But hey, some of them are pretty funny! Here's a classic one:
What do you get when you play country music backwards? You get your wife back, your dog back, your truck back... and probably get out of prison and get your trailer back too!
Now, we all know country music is more than just heartbreak and pickup trucks, but these goofy songs sure are entertaining. Let's jump into some real knee-slappers!

    That's not a "Country" Song. Neither is, "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It's Flavor On The Bedpost Overnight" But, "Get Your Tongue Out of My Mouth Cause I'm Kissing You Goodbye" and "I'm My Own Grandpa" both are.

    The first episode of 'The Outer Limits' (Galactic Being) got me interested. I had build a radio from a kit on my 8th birthday, and I discovered WSM that night, in 1960 but that TV episode was set in a real radio station. I was an engineer at a US Army radio & TV station at 21. One evening our DJ had made some snide comments about Country Music. He nly played hard rock, and said "I won't play that shit kicking music on my show!"I put him off the air until he agreed to play 'Foggy Mountain Breakdown' before I turned the transmitter back on. He played it one more time, the day I was processing out of the Army. That time he said, "This is for the best Engineer that I've served with."

    Who remembers Kenny Price’s ‘The Shortest Song In The World’? By number of air plays it might have been one of the most popular records of all time. The DJ’s would play it to fill up a short gap before a commercial, news break, station I.D., or signing off.

  • @CountryMusicTimeMachine

    @CountryMusicTimeMachine

    Ай бұрын

    I would not doubt that. The key is if the DJ's logged it when they played it. I do know that when I used to do the news we would always look for long songs or those that duration was a number like 3:00, 4:00 or even 3:30!

    @@CountryMusicTimeMachine Try working a a TV station, running film and the only bathroom was on the opposite corner of the building. More than once I returned to a ringing phone and broken film. I also had to monitor the radio station, repair the old equipment . At 1800, I had to produce & direct a live newscast. That included slipping in and out of the studio to rest the cameras, then back to the control room to switch cameras. I worked an average of seven 20 hour shifted every two weeks. That was 50 years ago. Most of the radio station was vacuum tube, and about half the TV station, as well. The mess hall was several miles away, so now real meals.

    Wow - took me a long time of scrolling before I found another Pinkard and Bowden fan. "Help Me Make It Through the Yard", "Trailer Park Woman", "Shake a Snake", etc. But I also grew up on 70's country music, and I find a lot of those songs funny now. Donna Fargo - "I'm the happiest girl in the whole USA", Johnny Paycheck "Take this job and shove it", C W McCall - "Convoy", Buck Owens "Act Naturally". They don't write them, or sing them, like they used to.

    Hank Williams Sr. had a bunch over the years. Many of his "Luke the Drifter" songs were humorous, such as "Please Make Up You Mind", "Just Waitin'", and "Everything's Okay". You could do an entire episode dedicated to Roger Miller or Ray Stevens. There's also "Smoke Smoke Smoke (That Cigarette)" by Tex Williams, "Divorce Me C.O.D" and "So Round, So Firm, So Fully Packed" by Merle Travis, "You Better Not Do That" by Tommy Collins, "The Philadelphia Fillies" by Del Reeves, "Ten Little Bottles" by Johnny Bond... way too many to list here.

    There are so many Country songs that fit this category that, if you wanted to make an album collection of them, it would probably be at least 50 albums of 12 songs each and then, you'd probably be leaving out over 200

    WOW, brings back a lot of memories. Never smoke the weed. The smell, If it smelled like that bad. I can image what it would taste like. Jerry Reed had a crazy song about his wife, "Its PMS, I guess" That was crazy, like Ray Stevens, Scribe to cable, Talking about women's product at the dinner table. Great video.

    Johnny Cash, the bug who crawled around the world, he has an entire album of humorous songs. And of course Shebb Woolies alter ego Ben Colder. There were at least a dozen groups and individuals in the early 60s that put out entire albums of humorous songs and let us never forget Tom T Hall.
