    My parents always put the TV in a small room they called the den. They lived in several beautiful houses of various styles but never was the TV in the main living area. I think it’s a lovely idea for many different reasons. ❤

    Yes, that's what I've been used to as well. The TV was never the main focal point in the home and that's how I prefer it so finding an added space for it is wonderful 🌹

    My husband and I would call that our hiding room. We may have music playing in the background, but no intruding TV screen. Our entertainment center has doors to hide the television. If they’re closed we are less likely to be distracted and stop to watch something. Entertainment has its place, but there’s a big, beautiful God designed world out there for us to enjoy . We work and rest. And in between we see, hear, smell ,touch and interact with people and nature. Do I want to be remembered for all the hours I spent in front of a screen, TV, phone, IPad,and computer? Or do I want to show God how much I appreciate His gift of my knowing Him and living in His world ? It drives me crazy that TV’s are in cafes and restaurants. We are too easily distracted and as with phones, who we are with are ignored. However unintentionally. Are we all that important that we can’t give an hour or two to others? Oops, lecture unintended. This vintage woman sees how sad the world has changed relationships with the endless train of distractions. It’s sad. We can’t get the time back, ever. Ladies, let’s reinforce God’s plan of home and family and what it entails. Nikki, your family’s reaction to the room shows that we all appreciate the present moment without distractions . I’m happy for you. If you share the space, it may nudge conversations. Take care and continue to show how we all grow and change. God be praised.

    Nikki , Love the color of the doors and the walls, in a lot of victorian older homes the walls , doors, and baseboards were all the same color or monochromatic. It looks very cozy. I have a dark green velvet vintage tufted victorian small loveseat in my morning room, it was a great find but has a tear on the arm like your chair, I just keep a cozy throw blanket laying across it to hide it. No big deal! Anyways if you ever need ideas for that room consider a small little loveseat, less bulky than a couch and cozy for two! Have a great weekend !

As a Brit I have been watching the current State Visit of the Emperor and Emperess of Japan to Great Britain. It was the State Banquet this evening at Buckingham Palace, and I think you would love the floral displays on the tables. Lots of pinks and roses, plus lots of beautiful evening dresses worn by the ladies.

    I think that room is an excellent morning/ media room. I agree it is not a good dinning room. Not just because of space but the only way in and out of it is through the kitchen. If you have people over you don’t want them to keep walking in and out of the busy kitchen. It’s a good extension of your bedroom also. If I remember your master is close by. Could be a dressing room.

    Hi Nikki, Beautiful room and the Curtains came out great!. We actually have a den. It is where our Rabbit Lucy lives. This place has a really nice design in that the den, living space and dining room are sharing the Balcony with doors to exit unto it from each of these rooms. Unfortunately, we also get lots of spiders and critters because we are nestled among Pine trees. In spite of this inconvenience, we get such a beautiful sunset which is a blessing. I will miss this when we move on. Your Diary options are beautiful. I look forward to your Daughters artistic contribution.

    As a little girl I was always intrigued and a bit envious of my friends with houses with T.V. dens. Yes, just like your daughter said, they are so cozy! Nikki, I definitely see why you’d like to go cream or white again with the doors, but I also love how they’re not “just white.” That being said, I wonder if it’s the white trim that’s throwing it off…have you thought about painting the trim the same color as the walls or, even better, the color of the doors themselves? It enlarges the look of all the joinery (the door and trim) into “one piece” so to speak and it always looks very classic and grand! I love that look so much! Your house is ever evolving and looking beautiful 👌🏻💓👏🏼

  • @TheLadyoftheHouse

    @TheLadyoftheHouse

    It's partly due to the fact that it clashes a bit when I look at it from the inside with the other colors. The thought to paint the trim crossed my mind however I'd hate to do that if I was going to change it after I sat with it for a bit because I wasn't convinced. We shall see... Love the den!!! A couple of ideas for making the doors flow more: 1. Paint the casing trim & baseboard to match. 2. Paint the “front” of the door white and leave the “back” green. If you often keep these doors closed, it will help to keep the color continuity between rooms. HTH!

    I would have personally use that as a dining room/office. That way you had a table for your morning room and Homeschool activities. And you could also easily close the doors. I enjoy sharing everything with us and it is fun to see you evolve with the space.

    We have a large family so our dining room wouldn’t fit in such a small space. I like the sitting room idea kind of being a multiple function landing spot. I really like the doors painted. I've been delving into the aesthetics of decorating in the time period my husband and I really enjoy. One thing that is very common is that doors are painted the color of the room they face. Which makes a lot of sense to me and I can see how it would be very aesthetically pleasing to the space and the eye. Why do I want a stark white door in a deliciously mid tone blue room that has rose gold and wood accents? 🤔 I don't want that....🤷🤣 I personally enjoy all the color you are bringing in, it looks so warm and homey.

    Thank you! I hope you'll find a Lifebook you love. I'm in the process of adding the "Enchanted" variety. You caught me! That's one of my many weaknesses. Using varied vocabulary has been a struggle for me, especially when filming. I can relate to Moses in this area. Fear of others commenting on this kept me from wanting to post my videos in the past or even caused me to film them over and over again. I've learned I can't hyper focus on it though because it was the biggest waste of my time. When editing, I still kick myself because of it (let's not talk about how many times I edited the same words out). We are our own worst critics and I can assure you, these criticisms are near and dear to my heart each time I hit record. Maybe one day I'll be better at communicating and not use the same, simple words so often. When I feel down about this though, I remind myself how varied I am in other areas especially when it comes to creating visuals and a variety of angles and choosing varied and moving music without words, this is a great form of communication for me. It's like I can remember every angle I've ever captured and can come up with something new again and again but sit me in front of a camera and my mind goes blank. I'll never forget a piece of music but the sound of my own voice frustrates me and it exhausts me to speak. Some people think in words, others in numbers and then there are those of us that do in visuals and music. Why can I picture and hear it all in beats but not convey it beautifully through my words? No doubt I have a deep admiration for those who do. To think, my Inspirations book would have been such a bore without my lovely editor. I truly value your suggestion so please don't think I'm not taking it to heart if in future videos you don't hear much of an improvement as it has always been at the forefront of my mind and yet here we are 🌹

    @@TheLadyoftheHouse Hello Nikki, while repetitions can be a bit boring sometimes (or annoying in extreme cases but not yours), I don't mind them when you are talking! As a matter of fact, I hadn't even noticed any repetition, as your voice is so pleasant and soothing while sharing your views and thoughts with us. I think this can happen to any of us because many people tend to use the same range of vocabulary on a daily basis (a linguistic fact). French being my native language, I had to do my best to enrich my vocabulary in English and other languages. What really helped me was using a "Thesaurus dictionary", as it's filled with lists synonyms of simple words. Later, as a teacher, I taught my students how to use one too in order to avoid repetitions, and it's accomplished wonders for their oral communication and essays, they just loved it and felt so good about knowing many synonyms! In our daily routine we just forget how rich our beautiful languages are. But a Thesaurus helps us refresh our mind and remember all the wonderful words we already know but forget to use, and learn even more. Even if it's just looking up one word a day only :) Still, I firmly believe your communicating skills are excellent conveying your ideas and opinions so nicely and clearly, and you have a lovely voice!💌💖🌹

    No, the sofa couldn’t fit, it’s too small of a space. There wouldn’t have been room for the tv if I would have been able to fit the sofa past the refrigerator but it’s too narrow.
