The Cosmere 101 | Scadrial

Scadrial is a very unique planet within the wider Cosmere and in today’s Cosmere 101 video, I’d like to take a deeper look at it in order to get a better understanding of this strange world. It’s been a while since I’ve done any Cosmere 101 videos so this definitely feels like a good return to form. Now if you’re new to the Cosmere, you may not know exactly what Scadrial is. Scadrial, as I mentioned a moment ago, is a planet within the Cosmere where a certain series is set. That certain series is, of course, the Mistborn series.
Now this video will be split in two parts. The first will deal with the Scadrial of Era 1 and will be completely spoiler free for any of those who have yet to read those books. The second half, however, will deal with the Scadrial of Era 2, which takes place hundreds of years after Era 1. So naturally there will be Era 1 spoilers within that section of the video, though I will avoid any Era 2 spoilers in that section. So if you have yet to read any Mistborn books, you may want to skip the Era 2 section of the video. If you’ve read Era 1, but not Era 2, you’re good for the whole video.
I do try to keep the Cosmere 101 series spoiler free, but unfortunately there are times where it can’t be completely avoided. So I try to make compromises where I can.
But with all of that said and out of the way, we have a lot of ground to cover and I’m trying to keep the length of this video reasonable. So without any further ado, let’s jump right in to the world of Scadrial...

Ah, this brought up Mistborn nostalgia for me. I’m patiently waiting for Era 2 book 4, and I’m figuratively dying to get to Era 3! Oh, and thank you for bringing the Me, My Skirt, and I channel to my attention. I’m enjoying her stuff so far!

I found out about Brandon Sanderson about 6-8weeks ago, since then I read Mistborn era 1, Warbreaker, and I'm almost done with The Way of Kings, I can't get enough, and that was before I found out that all these stories are interconnected, im hooked now, there is no turning back

While I found this to have a lot of good info, I would say it does have potential era 1 spoilers (not explicit, but had I watched this without reading I would have probably picked up on things as I read). I won't call out the specifics in case they got missed by new readers, but there is a reason that the ars Arcanum in the back of the books gets progressively more flushed out with each book.

I like it more because of the give take nature of the metallic arts if you get what I mean.

Spoilers for Allomancer Jak: It is revealed that yes, the Koloss breed, but their children are humans called “koloss-blooded”. In order to become a koloss one still needs to be spiked. Interestingly, some non-koloss blooded people deliberately choose to become koloss.

Love it :) super nit-picky point however, I don't agree with the statement that "you will find many people who [are twinborn.]" As stated in the Metalic Arts section of the coppermind, "Twinborn refers to someone who is both a Misting and a Ferring. They are extremely rare, and their Allomantic and Feruchemical powers seem to be...." I know, super annoying criticism. I loved the video, keep doing what you're doing

Lol fair point. Though for people who are rare, we sure do meet quite a few of them in the books
