    My favorite models have always been the ZR1s because of how overkill they are. In my mind, the zr1 represents what Europeans think of when they think of American excess, extra everything. More power, more downforce, more hood, more air, and more than you need. They're beautiful

    I like how you think. See my post above. Its gut wrenching torque melts some people into puddles. >:} However, even better is its handling on a track or good roads. Think: 200 MPH go kart =:0 and you'll get the picture.

    It not only set the FIA 24 hour endurance record, but also set the 5K km and 5K mile records as well. They were only beat years later by a one off, purpose built, prototype race car, and I believe the records still stand to this day for a production car.

    The original design of the LT5 provided was supposed to surpass 500hp but GM shot it down as they wanted to keep the bore size and spacing of the 5.7.

    They could have made it into a 6 or 6.6 litre and kept the same bore spacing. That would have gotten closer to 450 to 500 horsepower.

    Lotus was also working on a second version LT5 with even more power. There's a video on it somewhere on youtube. If it had gone into production it would have been just insane for a street car in the 90s.

    Doesn't even need new cams or a change in displacement; simply port-matching and polishing the intakes and heads, installing a freer- flowing exhaust, and swapping the flywheel for a lighter one will take you from 375 stock to around 500 HP, which is already more than the chassis knows what to do with for anything other than drag-racing.

    @@vomErsten Who said it needs it? I said I've PERSONALLY seen LT-5's make in excess of 600whp. You're not making that kind of paper on the stock displacement. These are mainly 415ci. And plenty LT-5's tore up the drag strip strip over the years, where have you been. lol

    My dad has been in the auto industry for over 20 years. Before he left GM the last project he worked on was actually the c8. He’s told me that the c8 zr1 will be supercharged, hybrid, and awd. (Electric motors on the front axle) they are supposed to be shooting for 1000 hp.

    Facts I think they perfected the design of the C4 and C5 when they made the C6, and then tried to be a little too unique with the C7. It's really weird now that the new Corvette doesn't look like a Corvette. Tbh it's like the Corvette has become transgender, it got rid of its stick and replaced it with some flappy paddles.

    I owned a 1988 Z51 and then a 1991 ZR-1. The ZR-1 was awesome, as shown in this video. I now own a 2016 Z06. It too is awesome. Love all my Corvettes. Thanks for the video!

    as an owner of a 91 ZR1 and a 19 ZR1 I can attest to all that! love them. my 69 427 L-36 is closest I could come to the 70 ZR1 because those are unattainable. My next one is the C6 ZR 1 but the prices are starting to get crazy.

    Fun fact: in the ‘70s, there was also the ZR-2 which was the same as the ZR-1, but with a 454 big block instead. It’s also extremely rare.

    A redesigned VE commodore ute sitting there. Now it feels like Holden ( RIP) had a play in the latest Corvette, 2 Chevy brothers from 2 different parts of the world unite. Holden still sings to the Chevy hearts loud from the grave.

    I can feel the love in this video, man. The 1971 Corvette ZR2 had the 454 LS6 big block from the Chevelle SS and it was offered for only...one...year: 1971. It is among the rarest Corvettes ever made.
