    ¡Daniel, eres genial! Me encanta como bailas. Yo no sé ingles, por eso te pido, si fuera posible, versión en español. Te doy las gracias, pero si no puedes también, aunque en ese caso no entenderé las explicaciones, pero bueno, como dice el dicho «mejor una imagen que cien palabras» Gracias por compartir con nosotros tu sabiduría. Te escribo desde Madrid (España). Un abrazo.

    Can anyone in the salsa world perform a beautiful dance lasting longer than 20 seconds? Is it because of the monotonous music and dancing to numbers?

  • @otraguardia

    @otraguardia

    If you want to dance longer than 20 seconds you need to string multiple moves together.

    And - coming from the world of Rock n Roll - Salsa (and Latin music in general) “monotonous” 😅😂🤣 DUDE! Do you listen to music or just hear something going on in the background and assume that - if you haven’t heard it before - it’s “monotonous” Get a sheet of music (cause you may be hard of hearing) and the orchestration of a “rock” song AABBAABB maybe twice to get to the radio commercial and it’s done… guitar, bass, drums… maybe keyboard, maybe sax… 🥱 Get a sheet music from El Grand Combo… AAABBBAAABBAAACCCBBDDDEEEFFF Key changes, improve, counter point and rhythms that could that could raise a corpse! I’m fact, you will notice they do NOT play salsa music for “Dancing with the Stars” because it would throw the dancers! These routines are the cream but dancing to salsa in club required - pacing - or you won’t last the usual five to ten minutes of a piece. “Monotonous” 😅😂🤣

    Try argentine (neo)tango. Much more basic in its essence (1 step, not a triple step pattern), not with all those continuous underarm turns, with more elegance, more connection (close or open embrace), and you can dance it slow or fast to all kinds of music (even tango valse 3/4), old and contemporary. The whole evening dancing to one genre of music ('latino'/caribean, rock, blues, whatever), day after day, week after week, is not my cup of tea anyhow. I like more variety in music-genres.
