Is this Bernard Roughton? So glad he documented Tupelo before its modernization. Priceville which is loaded with Presleys now has a marker for Jesse next to Noah. The town still has a sultry southern feel and the driving tour is fantastic, as each location has a plaque commemorating an Elvis' life event - the courthouse where Elvis sang on radio on Miss Slim show for example is virtually unchanged. Tupelo also has a world class auto museum which shouldn't be missed. I wish they renovated the fairgrounds instead of raising it, but it's long gone now. Thanks for posting this remarkable video. I really appreciate that some folks took the time years ago to document some of these locations especially those of Commerce Street and Mulberry Alley, which are now pretty much destroyed and gone. At least people that have an interest in the history and even researchers will be able to look at some old maps and connect the dots with the help of this video though. The only thing about this video I do want to comment about that I think needs understood is the viewpoints of the narrator expressing concerns about the "dubious" areas are perhaps a little bit unfounded and more about assumptions and less about fact. And it would even be update insulting to those that live in that part of town to feel Elvis fans were saying these type of things. This video was done years ago but there are still all these years later many fans that still have these assumptions about those "dubious" parts of Tupelo. But I can tell anyone that I myself as a white man have spent many times in those parts of town that the narrator kept recommending people to not go into at night (or alone) I myself have been there *alone* many times ...as well as at night. And of course during the daytime as well. I have never once *not one time* had a problem or negative experience. And the people living within that community have always been nothing but friendly, welcoming, respectful and kind to me. And as a matter of fact some of them from that community have expressed to me appreciation that a visitor from out of town, such as myself, just interested in the history of Tupelo was willing to venture off and away from the *typical* Elvis tourist path and be willing to visit their part of the neighborhood, where Elvis himself actually spent quite a bit of time before moving to Memphis. There were many black American families living in those areas that knew Elvis and his parents and they had many fond memories and great stories and details that will never be fully known and went undocumented because of the very attitude of this narrator ...and literally dozens of other historians and researchers .....that have basically ignored those folks, for fear it was too dangerous to be in that Community long enough to talk with them I myself know more about Elvis's personal childhood in Tupelo and some of his friendships with black folks than many of Elvis's historian simply because the difference between those historians and me is I actually was willing to walk those neighborhoods, meet people, make some connections and spend time basically doing informal interviews with those that grew comfortable enough with me to want to share and talk. I would suggest or recommend anyone that watches this video and sees my comment to trust that if you want an extra special experience with connecting with part of Elvis's Tupelo child hood past ....then do yourself a favor and make sure you visit Spring Street and North Green Street area. Get out of your car and walk. You'll survive. No one is waiting to jump you or take your car or hurt you, lol 😂 Oh and there is a little old restaurant on Spring Street has been there for many decades called The Chatterbox. They have great food. Be sure to stop in there and tell the owner and cook, a sweet lady by the name of Army, that Jay sent you. Elvis loved those people and that neighborhood and ran those streets just as much as he did the other streets the narrator showed you in this video

At least Tupelo takes care of and respects Elvis sights. Its disgraceful how they let the outside walls of Graceland be covered in Grafitti. Elvis would had never stood for anyone defiling his & his families home.

Wow !!! I never knew about these places that Elvis lived and went to church. I live here in the USA in GA. and I still haven't got to go visit Tupelo Mississippi or Graceland in Memphis TN. I have been to Nashville Tennessee a couple of times . I have been to studio B where Elvis recorded some of his record's. This was very interesting . That's so much for sharing this video .

Kimberly Akers , I say that too. I hope I get to go to Graceland before I leave this world too . I would love to see some of the places where grew up also . He was an amazing person . When my husband and I got married we went to Nashville Tennessee and we started to go to Graceland , but we were pushed for time . We had to get back home , because we had to go to work . Maybe someday we'll make it there . I'm the same age as Lisa Marie and I knew who Elvis Presley was when he died , I just didn't realize how huge of a star he was until I grew up learning more about him. I love him too . My kids grew up loving him and now my granddaughter loves Elivs . lol !! That's why his memory lives.....is because we keep it alive. He definitely deserve our love in return . 💗😢
