The Conspiracy & Execution of Anne Boleyn
Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII's second wife, was found guilty of high treason by a jury of her peers in the King’s Hall at the Tower on 15 May 1536 she was executed four days later. Queen Anne had been charged with having sexual relationships with five courtiers, including her brother, but how did this charge come about? In this video Kevin Hicks looks at the dangers of the royal court and uncovers the conspiracy that led to Anne Boleyn’s execution.

It's a pleasure to have someone on KZread telling these stories in the old style, painting the picture in the mind's eye with your words alone. So much better than the drivel we get on 'history' television nowadays. Thanks for the content, Mr. Hicks.

I had a history professor in college who told us stories this way every day. He ot only covered all history from early civilization to 1949, he did so in a way that made us remember nearly every important detail. Thanks for doing what you do.

I never really payed all that much attention in history, probably due to having a teacher with nil enthusiasm. However, after watching a few of your videos, I can see how clear it is that the teacher is the key component to the student’s interest. I really enjoy watching these videos thanks to your excitement and love of what you do. You’re an excellent host, a brilliant teacher and a quality story teller! Keep up the great work Kevin!

You couldn't be more right. A teacher excited about their subject matter brings it to life. I had a teacher who could make To Kill a Mockingbird boring. The only reason I got through Shakespeare with her was my own imagination and a picture in our textbook.

I would give you my old teacher if I could, she was so enthusiastic, she used to bounce as she spoke so animatedly. Mrs west, tiny and fierce, great teacher. Unfortunately I only managed a grade c because I don’t absorb dates and names, just stories. And I may have been pretty slack with coursework at times lol But she got me interested and I have learnt so much with that enthusiasm for history she passed down.

So right. I always felt like like the teachers I had in school had no enthusiasm, with a few exceptions. I always learned from those who really enjoyed their work, it was sort of infectious. I watched a video earlier today by a creator who is a middle school teacher and he mentioned that he had a biology class and a chemistry class the next day and both were going into new lessons and he was working out a plan to make sure his students can pick up on the basics for the new lessons so they don't struggle later on. I never felt like my teachers worried about such things. In the 30 years since school I haven't had any problems learning anything that I've needed or wanted to learn, even subjects that I struggled with in school and it's all down to enthusiasm for the material. One thing I will note is many British documentaries are hosted by people with enthusiastic personalities, whereas American documentaries are typically hosted or more commonly narrated by drab personalities.
Talking about the Royal privy then pronouncing poor as pooer had me in stitches.
I have always felt sorry for Anne Boleyn she didn't realize she was dealing with a complete psychopath. It cost her, her very life and decimated her family. All due to Henry and Cromwell

@@phillipmargrave Henry also had a jousting accident in 1536 (3 years after marrying Anne) at Greenwich Palace which resulted in him being left without speech for 2 hours (knocked unconscious) but historians claim this altered his personality from being deaceibed as a bold, charming passionate king into a tyrannical, paranoid one of which he remained for the rest of his ruling.

I have always hated Henry VIII history. Mostly because that was the main subject in schools. All it takes is a good storyteller and a person who is enthusiastic about the subject and I'm hooked. I must have paused the video about 5 times to read wikipedia articles about him, Elizabeth, Anne Boleyn and Mary. If only I found this channel sooner. Keep at it, mate

Excellent presentation! From the sources I have consulted, a head removed from the body can “exist” for up to 15-20 seconds. (I’d rather not wonder if the person is still cognitive, or mercifully in shock and beyond comprehension.) The body, however, has a heart that can pump up to 45 seconds after the head is removed.

It is true that a beheaded head's eyes and mouth can move as the brain runs out of oxygen, because although it is disconnected to the body, the brain is still alive. This partially led to beheadings falling out of favor in later years as people wondered if it really was the quick and merciful death they thought is was for centuries.
