It's also worth pointing out Cruise puts his own money into the production when things were going over and for places for the crew to stay. So when he did his rant it made sense since he was the first to get crew members back into work and they went and broke the rules in place to keep everyone save. I've just seen it as well and it's incredible and so wish everyone see it in a theatre.

The rules didn't keep anyone safe. Cruise was mad the rules were broken because it could lead to things being shut down; had nothing to do with him wanting to 'keep people safe.'

Lowering the chance of infection, especially during a pandemic, is a smart and humane move. Also, when provisions were made, breaking covid rules could mean they would have to stop.

@@FrameVoyager For sure it could have been, but we also don’t know the context. Making movies at this level is a serious business. Huge crews, daily safety and Covid briefings. And protocols on set, especially during this time were pretty bonkers even if the crews would roll their eyes (and we still do a fair bit) But ultimately we sign contracts including NDA’s that guarantee our safety and participation. To a producer and star like Tom Cruise it’s really serious business even if it is a bit over the top. Love the channel. You guys are killing it. 👌

I’m a huge fan of Tom. He never phones in a performance. He genuinely wants to make the best movies possible. Everyone has a bad day from time to time and he has a lot on his shoulders.

I think it was an important template to be able to make such a movie during extraordinary circumstances. Someone somewhere is now walking around with that knowledge in their head, and that's awesome.

I watched this film yesterday. It is my favourite in the series. Some people might complain that it has a slow and quiet beginning. But, that's exactly why I love it the most. I hope this film earns a Billion Dollars. It deserves it.

I honestly couldn’t believe how fantastic it was, went with my parents and even with the age gap we had so many great moments watching it! More laughs then you think, the stunts are absolutely incredible, and the storyline was way way better then I thought! This isn’t just an action movie, this has true heart. Thank you Tom! ❤

I would rather have someone over enforce on set rules than under enforce them, because one may lead to feelings being hurt, but the opposite can lead to injury, death or even the end of the production.

Absolutely agree! This one was hard to cover because while agree with it, I'm not sure it's the best coming from him in that way. Really should have on set staff that watches out for that type of stuff. Hard in that environment when you've always worked so closely in these situations. The sentiment is right but the delivery on that is questionable

@@FrameVoyager I want to believe that the majority of people are generally good, and if they snap then it was likely for good reason. Typically if one is always like that then word gets out because people talk, but I've not herd many really negative negative things about Cruise only that he's very passionate. That's true of a lot of people, and given the ridiculous circumstances and pressures they had to work under for this. I think it's more likely that; however, that doesn't mean I encourage it. One should always try to be their best at all times, and not let things both them become a regular thing.

I just got back from seeing this in IMAX - because I knew about its limited IMAX screenings - and man, I loved this film! Definitely going to try and see it again when I can.

definitely a great action film. None of that Disney bullshit always makes things 2x better. No excessive feminist shit, no excessive LGBTQ shit just a solid overall film telling a story it wants to tell.

Toms outburst was 100% correct. He was trying to make a movie in lockdown and staff were ignoring it

The complications were worth it. The finished result is fantastic, one of the greatest action films of all time. Picking between this movie and Fallout is splitting hairs.

The pacing and emotions put out by DR are fantastic, the stunts and action of Fallout are fantastic. Right now I think Fallout has the edge for me but I am pumped for DR:2 and another banger.

Fallout is better in almost every imaginable way. Story, pacing, action, music, cinematography, visual effects/cgi etc. I don't understand how people can be so deluded about this film. It has one of the lamest premises, some of the least effective stakes, mediocre action compared to other entries, worst exposition of the franchise and drags like no other entry. Every action sequence overstays its welcome, while being not as good as other entries action sequences.

@@MCGZay my bad, I was misreading online, it would need to gross 800 million in order to not be the worst performing mission impossible in the series (by profit, not revenue). Right now it's pretty much just breaking even. One source apparently said that it would have to hit 600 million to do so because of the large marketing budget the film also had. Im happy to see if it's not a flop, but it definitely is by mission impossible (and Tom Cruise) standards

I'm blown away that it turned out as good as it did, phenomenal film.

The problem is that nobody’s health was at risk. Most sane people always knew this. The government proved this when they refused to check illegal immigrants for covid. @@ericshuty2564 look I’m not a big COVID guy myself and I don’t think anyone’s life was at risk. But it could’ve stopped production for up to a month and gotten quite a few people quite a bit sick. Usually best to avoid those situations when you can. Even if that involves yelling at some staff.

I thought the aeroplane stunt from mission impossible 5 was the most dangerous one of his career. It was terrifying. It could have ripped his body apart.

The rant might not look good on him but it was absolutely necessary. Rules are rule and the whole team needed to abide to it especially when filming was already delayed yet again by a member getting covid earlier.

I would feel so bad for Tom if the movie flops. I hope this movie gets billions of dollars. And I can also understand when Tom was mad at the Imax thing. He literally put his whole soul and work since 2020, his reputation was almost destroyed with the audio leak, thousands of delays, etc. I'd be pretty pissed too.

Really enjoyed it. Watched it yesterday with my wife and we saw a lot of parallels to the first movie with characters in the movie. We will definitely be looking for part 2 next year.

Dude puts his life on the line everyday on set and all he asks is his team to be punctual and follow protocol. Oh well, the next person who can follow rules is just around the corner! What a legend Tom!

I liked the film, but there's a part in it that involves a complete backtrack of everything built in the last two movies between two characters. And McQ on a podcast also made comments about the two characters and their relationship and basically said "nope, we never wanted there to be a connection between those two. NONE at all." Yet, Rogue and Fallout had multiple moments of connection and romance between them. Suppose they're hoping the audience has a short memory, or that we are stupid. It definitely altered my view of the rest of the movie. You cannot build something over the course of two previous movies then erase it and act like it never happened in the next one. EVEN when this same movie has moments of romance and connection between those two characters in the very movie you're claiming is erasing their history and wants none of it. This was great ! I didn’t know that parts of the train sequence was practical rather than filmed in a sound stage or models or CG!. That said, I’ve seen this move twice in IMAX…I think I’m going to see it one or two more times this week…this video makes me want (even more) to “pay back “ TC for bringing this (awesome) movie to life! Without this dam pandemic we probably would be talking going to see MI 9 by now and hearing about MI 10!!

I dont mean this is as rude but i guess it is a shame that even in IMAX you or other ppl weren’t able to tell that it was real? I mean it is great with the wide shots that its very clearly practical. I hate that nowadays none of us can really tell if its CGI or not in the middle of an action scene, so even when they do it practical ur very unsure if its 100%, i mean i remember a few shots being cgi for the BMW chase in Fallout that threw me off. That is, i just love the security of the old movies like James Bond, where I watched Octopussy and knew someone actually went on that train, and where the greenscreen parts were, now CGI blends it together where it obscures real stunts with fake

@@GuineaPigEveryday let me just follow up, i guess I didn’t want to believe they crashed a train of the bridge, the cost of it etc…it looked great but I didn’t think they would crash an actual train…and they did…the CG part was the background. From what I’ve seen on the “behind the scenes” stuff they are on a real moving train and then CG plays some sort of role. I’m so brain washed regarding movie making that I assume CG is always involved now days. I don’t mind it…if it’s seemless and not “obvious “. I think MI7 doesn’t a great job of doing so many practical stunts that when they throw in the CG it’s hard to tell. If I had to guess percentage wise of practical vs CG in this movie probably 80:20or even 90:10.

​@@GuineaPigEverydaythey did use a lot of cg and for touch ups. Unfortunately the way it was used made the things that were practical very cgi which should have been done properly. Same goes for the cliff jump where the ramp is cgi'd out making the cliff look fake.

Three of us saw this movie yesterday. A Thursday. There were three other people in the theater. It was an exciting movie. Hope big crowds showed up at other theaters!

My cousins met Tom Cruise filming the very last stunt of the movie while on a hike in England's Lake District. No joke. They didn't even know about it until they saw the filming helicopters. The whole time I was watching the movie, I kept trying to figure out which stunt was the one they saw

Fantastic video! The movie was so good I need more content to help offset the withdrawals the day after… really interesting information nicely presented!

Honestly, i understand where Tom is coming from in the burst. I think he is a really good guy, but is under an insane amount of pressure. To be honest, I doubt he even would fire someone and more wanted to just put the fear of god into everybody, as he understands the ramifications for him and for all if Mi7 fails

We saw MI7 yesterday, and WHAT A AWESOME HOOT! The best so far, IMNSHO! (ane we LOVED 1-6) and have ALL SIX! Good on ya Tom AND Nolan!

I'm so happy my brain clicked and realised there wouldn't be a second week of MI7 IMAX before it stopped, I was telling my parents we should probably go on the second week as it would be cheaper. What a save (Though we probably wouldn't have been missing much, as we only have Dual 2K Xenon (AKA Liemax). Other Premium Large formats maybe would have been good too - It was anyways using the cropped 2.35:1 aspect ratio even though the screen was 1.90:1) I would have realised it had I seen this video, but I was skipping all the movies related to the movie to avoid spoilers - though for the cliff one thumbnails were enough.

that explains the budget. the movie looked like a 200 million dollar movie instead of the 290 million

There’s no way you can tell the difference between a $200 and $290 million movie. They new Indiana Jones cost $300 million, for example. Aside from paying Harrison Ford, the effects aren’t $250 million worth, and that’s from someone who enjoyed the movie. The difference between a $10 and $100 million movie…sure,but not $200 and $290 million.

@@coryrudy98yeah very true. The Flash racked up near that amount. Nowadays its impossible to tell the budget because its often much bigger than the movie looks. I mean The Mummy didn’t look like its money-worth either. Nowadays any major movie is ballooning to 100mil plus, which is insane considering that back in the day all the best and biggest action franchises were made first from mid-budget original small-time productions that began it.

11:20, I did initially think the motorcycle stunt was filmed in the swiss alps, the location they found in Norway is very reminiscent of Lauterbrunnen, a base-jumping hotspot here

WOW. Good job Paramount Pictures for paying for this movie, and not setting any hard limits on the production. This is one of the most historical and epic action movies, and since Top Gun Maverick turned out to be such a masterpiece with so much positive fanfare and word of mouth, it setup MI7 to get the attention it deserves. Had Top Gun Maverick not been one of the greatest movies ever made, it would have limited the exposure of MI7 by a substantial margin. This all turned out way better than anyone could have imagined, and it's probably all due to Tom Cruise's incredible enthusiasm and respect for the craft.

I can understand both sides of the Tom Cruise set rant. On one hand, he probably should have handled it in a calmer way. On the other hand, the crew were risking people's well-being by breaking COVID protocols. So, yes, Tom's anger is justified here.

As someone from the London area, most people I knew strongly agreed with Tom Cruise's sentiment, even if it seems extreme in hindsight or out of context. They were given permission to film with strict restrictions, at a time when *millions* of people were losing their jobs/being furloughed and the NHS hospital wards/staff were being overwhelmed by COVID patients. For all we know, this may have not been rhe first time the people involved had broken the rules. Given they were given special permission, they definitely should have stuck to rhe restrictions tightly and counted their blessings. Unfortunately, we may never get the whole picture.

Totally agree! I think the thing for me was he the right person to be doing that and was it the correct way to handle it? I have no problem with ensuring people stayed safe in this situation, it was more of how it was handled I won't necessarily cheer for especially since I don't know the full context of the situation. But I agree with the sentiment as well

@@hyeung1 It's honestly hard to say as there are various reports about what actually happened on set. They should 100% get reprimanded for it, but the question more is whether or not Tom Cruise is the one that should do that. It's a more a weird HR situation than anything about covid.

Just come from a IMAX screening, this is the type of movies you should pay extra to enjoy

The problem with his anger about losing IMAX after a short period of time is that the movie didn't even use the expanded ratios despite filming with digital IMAX cameras while Oppenheimer used true IMAX cameras and he will still get to keep many other premium formats.

I noticed the depth of coverage on this topic. I’m curious was there anything that didn’t make this final video?

A few things like Tom Cruise lawyering up against Paramount to keep them from putting it directly to stream 45 days after release, a weird FBI "rumored" investigation around top gun and this that's from a shady source, and a few other things but we tried to cover the most relevant ones that were pretty well sources

The real Mission Impossible would be getting him a insurance.

Hey Frame Voyager, your video is the reason I got to see Dead Reckoning in theatres. And that was the best decision I ever made when it comes to choosing which movies to watch. As someone who lives on a budget, I only watch movies that are worth for theatres... Due to Dead Reckoning getting a bit underrated in the midst of Oppenheimer and Barbie, this video was the reason I got to know more about Dead Reckoning... Honestly that feels like nothing compared to the production-hell of most bug movies, The Flash for instance? Or most James Bond movies? We get a Bond movie every 5 fucking years and they’re sub-par dogshit

Even the end results are predictable, the production of these stunts are unbelievable

Went to see this tonight and it was a banging movie.

I loved the Fiat 500 (I had a Fiat 600 my sister named Freddy). Rebuilt the 1100cc engine and drove it from Vancouver BC to Provo, Utah. My crazy days.

Just watched the film in cinema today and it was epic! Best by far!

I saw this movie last night and it was awesome, the train scene was amazing.!!

Tom deserves every single dollar made. Simply nobody else in the industry like him.

I definitely feel his outburst was warranted when looking at how just one positive test could set back a film both time-wise and financially. We also only have that clip, we have no idea if he had asked calmly first and it escalated, or if he was that angry from the start. There were rules in place for a reason

Totally agree! Which is why I'm not quick to overly applaud it with the lack of details on what happened. Totally agree with the sentiment but iffy on the delivery.

While I have nothing to back this up, "knowing" Tom Cruise (not quick to anger, very reasonable, and calm under pressure) I truly believe it was an escalation that eventually led to that burst - and I, for one, agree with the importance of safety, especially back then at the peak of the pandemic. So many people that lost their job and these people could still work and just had to follow the most miniscule safety guidelines Imagine having the ability to greatly reduce disease and potentially save people at the cost of pretty much nothing ...and not doing it

All I can say is, MI7 was awesome. The last 15 minutes of the movie made me want to grab on to something. Totally worth the admission in IMAX. Tom Cruise yet again saves the box office. He reminds us why we need to go back to the theaters. MCU movies are becoming a disappointment if you ask me. Avatar 2, John Wick 4, Top Gun Maverick, and MI7 are only a few movies in mind that are really worth buying a ticket for

MCU just lost any of it's quality. The writing has gone downhill pretty fast. But eventually that had to all end and wind down

@FrameVoyager Tom could have opted to save money using CGI. But no. They went to the extend of blowing up a real bridge and dropping a real train off a clip. The result was just awesome

And eventually, after all the hard work Tom Cruise and co. made one of the finest Mission Impossible of all time...!! what a wonderful movie it is

The fact the movie turned out so damn well makes me happy.

haha it was a great movie! Fun to see all the stunts and actually a fresh play on the car stunt scene in Rome.

Love the video but a slight correction @8.07 One of the most expensive films ever made is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. MI:7's budget is 14 on that list

No mention of speedflying, also a wild sport to learn for a film stunt!

Tom Cruise did a good jump on "Mission Impossible D.R.", but Rick Silvester made a history jump in "The Spy Who Love Me...."

Just got my Oppenheimer IMAX tickets for next Friday!! 😅

*These producers are missing the point, the viewers DON'T CARE if the stunts are real or not, just make it look real either by good CGI, scale or edited/greenscreeen, no need to really risk any lives for something people may not even going to see anyway.*

Mission Impossible movies are truly pretty easy to make. Step one kiss Tom Cruise's but till he signs up for the movie. Step to give him all the profits from the movie so he's the blame in case of fail. Step 3 find a stunt! Repeat the stunts, pretend to write a movie script about the stunts! Find somebody willing to jump cut every seven seconds for the entire movie for everything except the Tom Cruise bathroom break! Make sure to write one climactic ironic line for Tom Cruise! Have somebody do some research into some ironic title so you don't have to call it Mission Impossible part 67.
