The Complete Matrix Guide

Спорт

This video I go over the foundations of understanding the Matrix back take, as well as show my favorite way for setting it up. I show set ups from X Guard, Omoplata, Cross Guard, and the Key Master. in addition I have a lot of sparring footage to demonstrate how to actually use these techniques in sparring. Comment and let m know if you have any questions or requests.

That's what I was thinking. I'm trying to figure out why you would do a K guard style backtake if you can just do this. Maybe it's just that you have more options to a attack the legs with a k guard type of entry. Duno

I’ve been attacking it from Choi bar or legs on back position when my opponent postures. It’s a nice series of movements because the top/outside leg just consistently comes over the top, then I shift my hips square to the floor, turn my hips and throw the top leg over, shift hips square, etc etc

Not only was the primary information (matrix details) really helpful, but the secondary details (key master tension/pull, omoplata heel in the armpit details) were really useful as well. Hope it works out well buddy, it’s a fun position and can transform a lot of positions you already play with new attacks.

More generally that matrix attack looks like a great movement drill to coordinate the switching of feet and grips, shrimping, and backspinning in order to move around a standing opponent. Awesome!

Yeah I think even if you can’t implement stuff right away sometimes it allows for people to unlock new patterns and increase movement ability.

So the matrix is a back take from the K guard position 🤔. Thank you for this video I learned a lot. Can’t wait to work on it.

Great content, keep it up. Like another commenter, I have spent quite some time with instructionals from all the usual suspects. Often, they can be verbose and repetitive, or worse, tangential. Always they can benefit from better editing. Your videos, on the other hand are short, sharp, and crisp. Came here to find out wtf matrix guard even was, got my answer and then some in a few minutes.
