The Complete History of the SS (Schutzstaffel)
Ойын-сауық
The Schutzstaffel (SS) is by far the most famous paramilitary organization that the world has ever seen. It is by far the most controversial of all time too. But what's the truth about this organization? What even is it? Very few know the difference between the SS or the Waffen-SS, what is the SD? Who was Reinhard Heydrich? How did Heinrich Himmler change the SS? Why were there 100,000's of foreigners in the ranks of the Waffen-SS by wars end? Are they really a comically evil group of supervillains like hollywood movies, video games and comic books would have you believe? Let's find out the truth of the matter. What was the Schutzstaffel? Why were they so loyal to Adolf Hitler to the end?

It sadly also contains false information inside the first 3 minutes already. At no point before 1945 did "communists" seize complete control over Berlin. Certainly not in 1921. It is true that DKP members engaged in widespread rioting and occupied parts of the city, and that there was some serious fighting between them and the freikorps. But at no point did they control the city. In fact the Märzkämpfe (roughly translated as "the struggles of March") focused on the industrially more significant areas of middle germany as well as northern and western germany. And even then it is a crass simplification to describe these conflicts just as between communists and freikorps. This is a notoriously complex time in german history, but even moderately thorough research should have resulted in a better understanding of these events.

Yeah. The History Channel with all of that unnecessary time spent on Holocaust and the SS's role in that. Good thing this video ignored all of that. No, Himmler wasn't a murderous scoundrel trying to save his own skin when it became clear the war was lost. He truly wanted peace with the West, so we could all join hands and fight humanity's real enemy. Communism. What a crock of shit. Good information, but stop trying to reform the image of the SS. They sucked. End of story.

I definitely see a trend of this dude opening people up to the idea that nationalism and the nzi party "weren't so bad" or more "rational" than you think type narrative and everything was actually sm better bc of Hitler etc. Especially since a lot of the spin on some of this stuff is subjective or just debatable. And also ngl like just some of the credited usernames are lowkey concerning for a lot of politically conscious ppl who aren't so fond of gnocide, fascism and nationalism etc lol. Ofc seeping that kind of narrative in while keeping plausible, arguable deniability is pretty much an art form for plenty of undercover pro nationalists, alt right, etc. whatever niche fascist label they choose to call themselves, or say they are or are not, to other ppl online. Not that they aren't intelligent or well informed, but that's exactly the problem sometimes lol. Nobody else is, *usually* learning and controlling the narrative of this kind of info anyways, since most people opposed don't often research or want people to know they research the SS history in sm detail and depth lol.

I just found your channel and applaud your objectivity and attention to chronically overlooked details that add the nuance and accuracy that's needed for true knowledge. And the colorized photos and film - FANTASTIC!
You said six thousand Danes, which is a little off. From what I recall it was ten thousand. As I for sure know, that the Danish government persecuted and either jailed or executed over four thousand SS men, which was said to have been mostly all that returned. The Danish government had passed a law that said Danes could join whatever army they saw fit, now this was done under occupation granted, so might not have held up in court. But the fact that said government also brought back the death penalty which was banned decades before, just to get one over on these guys, says a lot. The usual interest groups came into play here pushing for death penalty, and our first "anti racist" law were lobbied into existence by the same people shortly after.

Interesting to note, Waffen-SS divisions trained not as soldiers but as fighters. They did little with parade drills, dress uniforms, etc. Rather they focused on fighting as brutal as ever. They would fight with fanaticism, go onto suicidal charges, and often disagree with the German army on tactical decisions. Though throughout the war they fought well the only thing was they barely got rotated out. Example being the 12th SS at Caen. The 12th SS arrived at Caen and fought well due to their brutal tactics and good training. But as the Canadians and British rotated their units out the Waffen-SS had no luxury. By the end of August, the 12th SS had suffered appalling losses. The same story played out across all theaters of war and by most, when Waffen-SS divisions rested it usually lasted for three months max then straight back into the fight. Overall, the SS fought well but they enacted brutal crimes.

Interesting watch mate thanks 🇬🇧👍
Make a showcase type video showing what books to read for unbiased history would love some more material and im sure others would too!
Oddly it was the French SS Charlemagne Division that was fhe most fanatical fighting force in Berlin... the Germans were tired of fighting and just wanted to home... the French SS knew they would have been executed if they went home so most went out in a blaze of glory!

But the Germans couldn’t go home either… it was kinda… destroyed and occupied lol.

That's true they fought like lions. The notion of French cowardice is basically allied propaganda , in a way against themselves. French didn't like ehhh banker influences really and were fking sick of dying in wars , they had been demographically messed up from ww1 .

@@jonnyapplesead737the difference was that the Germans at least had a chance of surviving and returning to what was left of their homes. The French SS were dead men walking either way which is why they fought so hard.
This is the second video of yours I've seen but I can already say I love you and your channel. Your apoliticism speaks bounds ;) heroic asf! ong!
