@@edra2005 though i agree with you, but it does make sense how the Republic City first came about too.. after the war, some of the fire nation colonist have been living there for decades and some are born there.. when they were ordered to go back home (Fire Nation) they had mixed feelings as that city was their home because some of them were born there in the first place. And some of them have also learned to live together peacefully with the Earth tribe there too.. and some, married to each other. So if the fire colonist would be brought back to the fire nation, that would mean some families have to be separated. After a lot of conflicts between the Earth King and Fire Lord Zuko, they made an agreement thst led to the founding of Republic City.

How ironic that Azulon captured all of Southern Water Tribe's Waterbenders and then years later, his granddaughter got defeated by the last of Waterbender from Southern Water Tribe (Because remember no one can Waterbend in Southern Water Tribe besides Katara)

The reason Kya wasn't take as prisoner because the fire nation afraid that the new water bender will have ability to bloodbend too. That's why they killed Kya.

Pause at 7:26 and look at Zuko creating a ball of fire to protect himself from the explosion on his ship... similar to the ball of air airbenders like Aang have used. It's clear that Iroh was adamant on teaching Zuko everything he knew, including what he took from the other bending styles.

What’s funny is that Sozin actually was correct! 😭 He said that if the Fire Lord, using the wealth and technology of his nation and the Avatar teaming up and working together, it could really be beneficial for the world. I70years later that’s exactly what happen with Zuko and Aang creating Republic City, the most modern advance city.

Yeah but you got to realize that when Sozin said “let’s share our prosperity with the world” he actually meant “let’s expand the fire nation and conquer everyone else”. If he really wanted to share their prosperity he would have done so by sharing the fire nation’s knowledge, technology and resources. Instead he took that away from everyone else.

Ok very important question, what do firebenders do during Sozin's Comet when they aren't at war? Do they just sit around or do they have some sort of use for that kind of power-up that doesn't involve immolating the opposition?

I'm not sure about before Sozin, but starting during his time, they underwent an industrial revolution that allowed for peaceful usage of their fire.

I imagine during the comet before sozin the fire nation wasn’t a unified nation and they probably used it to war one another for dominance on their island. Before that I presume it was a festival like the fire tribe we saw with the dragons would probably use it for.

When I saw the Azulon banner on the fire nation thing I was like what did Azulon do for the comet or something? I said “maybe the water tribe?” And it was the water tribe lol

The world was not balanced only 4 victories happened it took many more years for the world to return to balance

i just realised something, maybe the reason the fire nation probably captured waterbenders as a precaution just in case the avatar was reborn in the water tribe

@@jamalshuaib9144 sozin did mention that aang avoided him (not sure exactly how) and he didn’t know that he was frozen so azulon could have thought that aang was already dead thus being reincarnated as a water bender

Let's be honest. We all hate Sozin. He betrayed his best friend. He started the tradition of hunting down dragons, the original firebenders. And he also started a war that damaged the other nations.

@@josejimtharayil1511 if you're referring to Sozin as better than Ozai, you're mistaken: Sozin also did some historical revisionism so it would appear that the glory of the Fire Nation started during his grandfather's reign and reached its peak during his own reign source: Legacy of the Fire Nation

9:10 this scene of uncle Iroh always gives impact on me

You know i never really thought about the fact how much comet did amplified a fire bender. Now seeing Iroh break the Ba Sing Sae wall i realized it was muchore than 100 time because those wall were what kept Ba Sing Sae safe amd he just obliterated them in a single blast. 15:40

Something I never realized in the multitudes of times I've watched this monarch. There was one nation Wipeout per firelord. Sozin for the Air nomads, Azulon for the Water tribe and Ozai attempted to snuff out the Earth Kingdom.

tbf the Hundred Year War was also caused by Kyoshi: she meddled in Fire Nation politics (during the succession crisis & the flower civil war), spurring the Fire Lord to transform a feudal nation of warring clans to become a centralized absolute monarchy, spurring on a long period of peace and prosperity also it wouldn't go past me if Sozin also murdered his sister Zeisan and her husband Khandro

I think the most mind-boggling and impressive part of this entire hundred year war was the fact that the fire nation at one point in time had both Iroh and Jeong Jeong IN THEIR PRIMES on their front lines against a Ba Sing Se with NO BUMI (was occupying Omashu) and NO TOPH (too young/wasn’t born yet) and they STILL COULDNT CONQUER IT 💀💀💀💀💀💀 that just goes to show how incredibly resilient strong enduring and formidable earth benders are and what’s even crazier they weren’t even unified or nearly as industrially advanced as the fire nation was at the time

This is the best avatar last air bender summary ever!

I think one thing learned from it is that honor isnt about the expectations of others in you, but instead about choosing the path that harmonizes most with your own ideals

Sozin wanted to give the world a better life than he had - a toxic family, a burden of the crown and his best friend leaving him alone. It's tragic that the only language he understood and could use to fulfil his dreams is the one he had learnt all alone - of mistrust, violence and loneliness. And his psyche was only worsening up when Roku was lashing out at him for his misguided thoughts and actions. Maybe even Sozin blamed the Cycle of Avatar for turning his best friend against him which only degraded his mind even further and made him believe that the world belongs to its people (with "enlightened " Fire Nation in charge), not Avatar, who in his mind makes the world, stuck in the constant "Four Nations" stasis, dependent on his/her heroics. The moment Sozin believed Roku was in danger, he wanted to help his old friend. But the moment he actually witnesed Roku weakened before his own eyes, he saw only the helpless Avatar, whose removal from the scene was the first true step for his new world order, one where no one would need Avatar anymore.

Kinda surprised aang never found another air bender. I know the attack on the air temples was a suprise but even then few usually survive.

I like how Roku and Sozin were best friends, then powerful enemies and Aang and Zuko were powerful enemies, then best friends, but life long friends

I actually love that the forefront heroes/victors of the war are teenagers
