This year The Colleges of Law hosted a series of three virtual debates about propositions on the November ballot, including Proposition 25: Replace Cash Bail with Risk Assessments Referendum.
In this “postgame debate recap,” Matt Nehmer, Ph.D., president of The Colleges of Law, catches up with John Bauters, a former defense attorney and director of government relations at the Californians for Safety and Justice, who argued “Yes” on Proposition 25 during the debate.
On November 3, a majority California citizens voted against the proposition. Now Dr. Nehmer and Bauters discuss the challenges leading up to the vote and results of this decision.
