Ойын-сауық

Cesar discusses how the guitars and record collection of his father influenced him and how the debut Black Sabbath album ignited his desire to learn how to play. Cesar also describes how he purchased his first Gibson guitar with money he earned from playing in a tennis tournament.
Cesar displays many of the guitars in his collection of over 130 guitars, including a 1964 ES-335TDC that was the guitar Cesar purchased from Mark Agnesi when Mark was presenting 'Guitar Of The Day' at Norman's Rare Guitars, which is now the instrument that all Gibson Custom 1964 ES-335 guitars are modelled on, 1961 Les Paul SG Junior, an extremely rare 1962 Les Paul Special, 1958 and 1959 Les Paul Customs, an exceptionally clean 1959 Les Paul Standard, a 1963 Hummingbird, and a Pelham Blue 1967 ES-330. He also showcases his Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Edition ’58 Korina Flying V, 1982 Silverburst Flying V, and 1981 Silverburst Flying V Bass, as well as his Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom, the Slash Vermillion prototype, and the Tony Iommi Monkey SG prototype. In addition, Cesar introduces the first-ever prototype Gibson Murphy Lab Les Paul guitar as well as the Dave Mustaine prototype acoustic guitar.
Cesar also shares his thoughts about the current state of Gibson and what it’s like to be Brand President of Gibson. He also talks about the responsibility he feels as a custodian of the brand’s legacy, and of his guitar collection. As if that wasn’t enough, there are also special guest appearances from Richie Faulkner and Dave Mustaine, making this episode an absolute must-watch for guitarists, fans, and collectors of Gibson vintage guitars.

i mean its the gold standard , the rolexs of guitars (priced that way aswell) i mean u can get the same sounds from a jackson king V as a gibson flying v but its more then that its the wood, gibson usa pickups, nitro laquer) but if u just wanna have a killer sound you dont NEED a gibson but every guitairst WANTS one myself included my dream guitar is a white 70s V
It’s very comforting to know that Gibson is now in the hands of true lovers of our art/love/heart! Just a few short years ago it was looking like we were gonna lose Gibson forever! The future is looking good for Gibson!!

I got my first Gibson in 2021 and love it
As a lifelong Gibson fan, nothing has made me more excited about Gibson's future than seeing Cesar, James, Mark, and others at the helm. People who truly love and care about Gibson, not just the bottom line. Thank you for all you're doing.

I'm starting to feel this too. It's taken me a while, because it's really a gigantic road block for me, but I get turned off really easy by the "corporate" lingo. A man was hired to help grow my father's business grow who talked all that talk like "growing the brand", "bringing things to the table", he ran our 45 year family business into bankruptcy and we all lost just about everything. he stole from us under the guise of spending what it takes to make more money, ultimately over a 5 year period he flew all over the country taking friends out to eat and driving really nice cars and staying in 5 star hotels every trip, never made one deal and not one meeting with any of the big corporations happened. So when I hear a lot of that chit chat about the Gibson BRAND, it's nauseating. I get it, and I'm really easing up on how Gibson is talked about in this regard because as you stated it, it's refreshing to see how these guys love and care for Gibson without mentioning profit or the bottom line constantly. I have the hopes that the new president, JC, can keep the corporate talk in the board room. Thing is, we all get that it's a business and it needs to show profit but when I watch videos about guitars, amps, pedals, etc. etc, I could care less about all that. It's just not the appropriate time. I've never picked up any of my Gibson Les Paul's and thought "At least the brand is in profitable territory now", I'm running chords and melodies in my head that I want to finish a song with. Long rant, I know. I needed to get that off my chest, your comment spurred a few thoughts.

Agnesi plays no part in “running” Gibson, he was hired to put out some dumb shit about bringing litigation against other guitar manufacturers who were/are doing better in designing innovating & selling their products. Oh’ he also had something to do with these video promos.

@@21sungalute.42 I think he was referring to Cesar, not Mark. The reality is players like their Gibsons to be traditional. Gibson released a lot of modern design models in the 80's and 90's and players hated them. Even changes that were useful and subtle like the automatic tuners, people hated.

@@blastofo "The reality is players like their Gibsons to be traditional," yet, you're praising automatic tuners as useful and claiming they're subtle? People were right to hate automatic tuners. Fact is, what holds Gibson back is their attention to tradition. Once the Boomers die, there's not going to be many people buying Gibsons or caring about them considering younger generations tend to lean towards Fender, PRS, and Ernie Ball Music Man or brands like LTD and Schecter who have modernized traditional designs. Also, suing those companies certainly didn't do Gibson any favors in attracting a broader customer base.

@@zachsabbath1 People thought guitars were going to be dead when new wave got big in the beginning of the 80’s. You cant predict the future. Whats popular as far as instruments and brands go, is determined by relevant and popular artists and what gear they use. And the robot tuners were great. They looked stock, and they eliminated the need for multiple guitars for different tunings.
So cool to see someone so high in the company who’s actually really involved with what they produce/have produced!! Sick and massive props

How incredible.. I've been sucking up every bit of Gibson history I've been able to find since I was a kid. With a little luck hopefully I'll be an owner of a Gibson piece of history someday. I've had the same Epiphone Les Paul for ten years and I love it but someday I know I'll get there. Thank you for posting this!
Guys that was the coolest “the collection” show yet!! The only “V” missing was the Lonnie Mac. Which I’m sure that Cesar has in storage somewhere!!ahhah! Thanks man! Or men. Time well spent. Thank you for sharing!
True stewards of the brand that have become the heart and soul of Gibson. Incredible leadership. Insightful, creative, inspiring. I’m proud to be a Gibson player.
Cesars Collection is so awesome! And I Love the direction Gibson is going! 🎸
Enjoyed this so much. Love Mark and Cesar both! Keep up the great job guys!
Incredible collection Cesar. 🍻 cheers Mark & the whole Gibson Fam.
2022. Gibson is blowing my mind. Just got a new Les Paul Standard. 50s. worth every penny. The quality, care, craftsmanship. Top notch.
I dig their passion for these incredible instruments- very, very cool to see Cesar’s unreal collection.

I hate to think how he would bastardize each and every one of these guitars before he jacks the prices up on them and puts them all on Reverb. I wouldnt let that dude near my guitars. Especially not with a screwdriver. No, trogly. You don't need to take apart every single guitar you handle. Smh. The dude is a joke IMO. Hes a guitar have-er. Not a guitar player. You know what I mean. The tuners could be in their original positions with screws in their original positions and hell take it all out, pile it up, and just put anything back anywhere. Dude has zero respect for vintage guitars whatsoever. He just sees them as money making opportunities.

I LOVE THESE Series. I'm sitting at work bingeing boatloads of them. I just love Gibson guitars.
Lots of very expensive beautiful guitars but I wished they played them all for us, mere mortals, to have a glimpse of how they SOUND...
Like everyone else has said. It’s so good to see Gibson finally in the hands of true players. Now if they could just get prices a little better. I make $100k a year and even for me, paying damn near $10k for an R9 is insanity.
2022. I am super stoked. Currently saving for a 50s Les Paul gold top. Can’t wait for my first Gibson.
Great episode, spent the entire time drooling! And then two metal masters I love, just show up.very cool.
I own one old Gibson LG-O acoustic made in 1958 and it is a great, vibey old guitar. That old Goldtop with PAFs with all of the checking and some fading into that green color…..I’ll bet that guitar has some stories to tell. Thank you Cesar for opening your home to us and showing us these beautiful pieces of history. What a collection! And it is obvious that you love rock music and the artists that have made it great. I feel better about someone like you having these instruments to appreciate and to still play them. So cool. Thanks Mark for another great interview and episode. This stuff never gets old does it?
Own a 1961 Les Paul SG Jr I found here in Albuquerque, NM in 1976. My first Gibson. Like everything about Cesar. Gibson is in good hands.
So cool that cool people are running the company that I have always looked to for coolness. Really good episode. The bar has been pushed higher by having this guy at the helm.
That, was a privilege just to watch. awesome to just watch you guys, Dave and Ritchie, admiring the silverbursts (I adore my silverburst... I needs a partner, so...) THAT, was the best collection of Gibbo's I have ever witnessed, in life, film or print, in my 30+ years of playing. Best regards from the UK. We make the amps, you do the guitars...! BIG LOVE TO Y'ALL
This was just the tip off the iceberg wasn't it? Love every second!
I love that piano and when they go upstairs… WOW, the room full of acoustic guitars is just AMAZING! What a dream come true, congrats!
Really enjoyed this - Thanks guys
I love this one so much I had to watch it twice...in a row. FML
I bought and paid for my first Gibson in late 2016 and got it around March of 2017. It's a 2017 Gibson SG Standard and I still play it today. It was slightly before the new ownership, but it still plays as great as the day I got it. Looking forward to the day I get my second Gibson.
I keep checking out that white dove in the background and really want to play that thing!
Fantastic!!
The routing for the inlays on the 59’ burst at 21:21 tells you everything you need to know about these things. They were not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. Amazing when people complain about minute details and errors on modern American and custom shop models when in reality the most coveted guitars that they are based on were full of imperfections, there were no master builders in the 50s and 60s just guys building instruments. Luckily though they seemed to get the most important thing right back then, the sound.
Absolutely awesome. Surprise guests too. Rock on. Nice job Mark.

Bringing respect back to the brand. So excited to see what the future holds under this leadership. Great work.

Truly excited about the future of Gibson. This is an institution that should be around forever, honestly FOREVER!!! Now on a more serious note ........how can you guys introduce one of the best collections ever and not let some of these sing a little for us. This is a segment that brings huge excitement and some disappointment as well. LOL!! Keep 'em coming Mark.
Word of the day. Vibe'ee 😂 you guys have turned Gibson around. I love it. Keep kicking ass guys
such passion can simply only be JC's successor. Wonderful footage and the starter with the grand piano says it all about how Mr. Gueikian breaths and lives music, music instruments and obviously Gibson guitars. Gibson has really been killing it since Cesar took over. I've got a couple from 2015/16 and 3 I've bought in the past year and there's a huge difference(not that the others were bad, some of the best guitars I've played). Now hopefully he just brings back the LP Supreme and Custom to the Gibson USA line so I can sleep at night.
Gibson is back and better than ever now! Keep up the good work!
Just amazing cool stuff !
I can't afford any of the vintage stuff, but I recently purchased a Standard 50's AAA top Les Paul from Sweetwater and I absolutely love it. My first Gibson but it won't be my last. My next purchase will be a Gibson Custom Murphy Lab. I think that will be the one that get's buried with me.
Outstanding sir
Amazing collection! Thank you for sharing. Can't wait for the USA AJ line. Hopefully we get a USA LP Custom Silverburst, too!
Simply, WOW!!!
Am surprised they do not mention "weight" as it is a very important component of the Les Pauls and their individual tones. I have owned probably 25 plus later 50's Customs and most are 9.5 lbs to 11 lbs. I recently bought a '59 and it weighs under 8.5 lbs, the lightest one I have ever seen. It sounds heads and tails over every other one I've heard. Even ECs 58 that I played on a gig one night did not come close to this one. Has to be the weight dimension? Thank you Cesar! Great program Senior...
I really like that in these documentaries the brand is taking an interest in music, instruments rather than presenting its products. I wanted to comment on this in a video by Dwezeel Zappa where Fenders also appeared. Now they also introduce a piano and this is really something very nice from the brand.
Who would thumbs down this video? A Fender employee? This was awesome!
