I got to do some computer work for their manager once as a friend called me and said they needed help. Had never seen Aerosmith but sitting on stage for a concert by them was remarkable. They were fantastic live. This wasn't long after 9/11, feels like yesterday! Sadly, didn't get to meet them because some yahoo crashed their backstage green room the night before and pissed everyone off so the manager said it would be better to let them have a uninterrupted visit. I got lucky and met 100s of bands in the 80s/90s so I understood their job is actually work, not just fun like you imagine as a kid dreaming of being a rock star. They've been one of my favorite bands since :-) Rock on Brad Whitford!

Gibson should be commended for featuring their competitors guitars along with their own. You don't see this from other brands. People in guitar forums are always praising one brand and bashing their competitor. It's content like this that should show to everyone that a cool guitar is a cool guitar, doesn't matter the brand.

Gibson deserves so much credit for breaking the mold. It shows such confidence in your company to highlight a competitors product alongside your own. I appreciate that Gibson as a company truly enjoys the history of the tools used regardless of the brand name. Respect and appreciation to everyone from bottom to top at the Gibson company. 🤝

I was such a huge Aerosmith fan growing up while learning guitar in the mid 1970’s. Like Brad mentioned we all learned back then by dropping the needle over and over. When I first saw them live in the early 1980’s I was surprised to see how many of the great solos were actually Brad. I had always assumed it was Joe but it turned out that Brad plays a good majority of the killer solos. So cool to be able to have all those sweet guitars within your reach. Great interview Mark.

Brad has always been my favorite of the great bands with two guitarists. I saw Aerosmith live quite a few times in the seventies and through the nineties, and Brad is no second chair or second banana artist. He’s always held his own in the rock world. A deeds not words kind of guy. Respect

When I saw Aerosmith many years ago the big revelation was "wow, Brad is the guy playing all my favorite solos". I had no idea. The whole 'Tyler/Perry' mythos sucks up so much oxygen around this band that Brad's brilliance rarely gets noticed. In Steven Tyler's memoir it's "Joe-this, Joe-that" I think he mentions Brad's name two or three times in the whole book. Brad is such a world-class player.

39:12 The reveal of the big-headstock white Strat with bound fretboard reminded me of the late Chicago bluesman Lefty Dizz and his Strat that also had a bound fretboard, the only one I've ever seen. I saw him play many times in the late-'70s through the 1980s. The Strat was black, but very beat up so it might not have been the original color. He played it upside down like Jimi, but with it still strung for a right-hand player. I'm looking right now at his 1979 LP with that guitar "Somebody Stole My Christmas." Happy holidays, everyone!
