He is way too private for that! Really not his style, other than his book that he did ages ago. We had a mutual friend who was taken into the storage area that he had at least 40 years ago in Houston. The friend was more or less free to open cases & an occasional gig bag. He was stunned by some of the guitars that he found, that Billy had forgotten about back then. He was a prolific buyer back when the vintage guitars & amps were really cheap! An interesting guy to hang out with too!

If there was another guitar in the shot that wasn’t theirs, they would blur out the name on the headstock like nobody would know it was a Les Paul. 9:47 To hear him casually dropping Derek Trucks in with Duane Allman in terms best slide players says so much. Derek is literally a living legend at this point. I have seen some many other great players talking about how Derek is like on another cosmic level from everyone else. He's a guitarist's favorite guitarist in so many cases. I say all this just to try to illustrate that seeing Derek Trucks in person is one of the best musical experiences you could ever have, bar none. He is an all-time great master who is still around playing live, and one of the very best to ever pick up a guitar, imo.

Last Tedeschi Trucks Band show I saw was around the fifth row back from the stage right in the middle and it still cost me less than even a lawn seat for a bigger band like Dead and Company. Every time I have seen them it reminds me how those are some of the absolute best live performances I have ever seen. Derek is just a monster and Susan can sing like no one else. I highly recommend seeing them live. There’s no chance that you’d ever regret going, and like I said, really good seats usually aren’t too expensive (unless they’re in a smaller theater).

Sweet how he explains his love of collecting - the how and why. Going through the toy box, ha! So relatable. And well anything that John Prine touched would have to be the one.

I’m so glad to hear that the custom shop reproductions we so close to the originals… because I could never afford a vintage burst BUT I bought a 60 burst nos from the custom shop. And my SG’s drive me nuts since they never stay in tune, but all my les Paul’s are rock steady!

Love the Gibson Collection videos! I would say Mark is a great interviewer, but this is less of an interview and way more just two guitar nerds indulging in the art of the guitar which makes Mark that much more the perfect host. As for Jason, terrific guitar player and songwriter, but more than that just a humble, kind and good southern man. He's caught flack from some in country music for not being "like us", but I have utmost respect for the man standing by his beliefs and making his own way. And any time he wants to part with that 335, I know a guy lol!

Saw him last Sunday and he played the hell out of that '53 Goldtop with the Bigsby. Awesome to get more info on it, as I'd been wondering what the story was with that guitar.
