I just get the feeling these is a gambling aspect to all of this, and thats SUCH a negative thing to add to the coin collecting hobby.

You have no idea how popular card chasing has become nowadays. Everything from all sportscards, Pokémon to Star Wars cards to F1 racing cards. You can watch any expensive box break you want on KZread. Some of the boxes cost thousands. They’re actually behind the curve when it comes to coins. Surprised it took this long.

Just simple gambling. No more, no less. Better odds than a lottery. Worse odds than slot machines. I agree with you about bullion coins and grading. I thought you might see some new Morgans but they cost too much to be the cheap coins.

Great conversation guys! I don’t think people are looking for value when they buy the box. They are enjoying the gamble. That being said, it’s not for me. I actually think the new grading scale will catch on. Love seeing you three guys together!

Now that the results are out, are you guys going to do a follow up video? I bought a box, and ended up flipping it on eBay. Prefer to net a guaranteed profit as opposed to "getting lucky" and opening a box that breaks even. As requested, here is a Limerick I wrote to sum up my vb experience. They sold us the box as a mystery Said "Find a red core" and claim victory But the unboxings were lame Not a very fun game This might have the worst odds in history

New NGC Grading on all NEW HOLDERD 10.0 = MS or PF 70? How do you equate a 70 point grading scale with a 10 point grading?...10 point scale to be used with ALL NEW MINT PRODUCTS ONLY?
@grantv2313

No. They’ll do it if you want it but otherwise you’re getting the standard grading scale for moderns and classics

Hey guys. I actually collect baseball cards and coins so this is interesting to me. I’d have to say that I do get excited to open some packs of cards and see who I’d get, but I would never buy coins that way. I 💯 want to see the exact coin I’m getting and evaluate it’s personal eye appeal before purchase. I also hate the 10 point system. NGC shouldn’t have the right or ability to do that. That should be an industry wide decision (perhaps by the ANA) that all grading companies agree to. For one grading company to go rogue and create confusion is terrible for the hobby. I’m only using PCGS moving forward. Thanks for the video.

I talked with the VB rep their profit margin was nominal as they were trying to build massive hype to lead to Series two.

yea, "nominal". Spend $600 on coins that would cost $200 under normal circumstances

@@Anonymous-a-hole They had to purchase the coins and get them graded with special slabs and pay ngc to package them randomly AND pay for their advertising. NGC isn’t making the profit, Vault box is. And it was only around 10% for Series 1 after all was said and done. But yeah a lot of people had to get screwed to even achieve that .

You ordered 4 of them with a limit of 2 per person so you took away opportunities for others to make money or have a chance. So you are the problem here. Now it’s likely only 500 people or so have a box.

Oh no, there were only 800 boxes, and a lot of people bought their max of 2, and some, like these guys, broke the rules and grabbed 4, so likely only less than 400 people got these. I saw another video where a guy had 5 of them.

This is just gambling, but at least you don’t lose everything. But clearly these are not a good value. Apparently they will move past bullion to classic coins eventually.
