US Mint Returns: During the vault sale during cyber monday they stated they resell the returns. “As one of the largest Mints in the world, even our most popular coins and medals sometimes have a few returns and order cancellations. Sometimes packages are undeliverable and sometimes collectors change their minds, both of which mean that you have a new opportunity to collect popular coins!”

I learned a long time ago from an NGC grader that gloves actually are worse because they lead to more dropped coins because of the lack of the ability to feel the coin. Not a single grader at any of the services uses gloves. Nothing is better than freshly washed bare hands.

Great interview. However I think it is too early to tell the value of a PCGS MS66 versus a CACG MS65, or even a PCGS MS66 with a green sticker versus a CACG MS66. What the market has said is that a PCGS MS66 with a green sticker is worth more than a PCGS MS66 with no sticker. But a PCGS MS66 with a CAC sticker has been graded by TWO grading services, while a CACG MS66 has only been graded by one. We have all seen numerous videos by numerous dealers who do not agree with the results of their coin submissions to CAC for stickering. But we are supposed to believe that these two gentlemen at CACG and the only experts. Lastly, if I were a cynical person, I might speculate that CAC set out to delibrerately sticker a small proportion of coins, so that the CAC stickered coin is believed to be of higher value. Sell that story for a decade (while makin money on the stickering), laying the groundwork for starting CACG. Would LOVE to see a study of CACG coins and PCGS / NGC coins in the same grade., to see if the CACG ocin looks better than the PCGS / NGC coin.

Some time ago was watching a live auction pulled out a better date morgan to sell and was talking up how rare it was, I opened up ebay to compare the prices he says the coin should go versus the market, and right away saw a flood of chinese counterfeits priced less than he was wanting for his better date. It's why I'm very shy to get into numismatics and want to just stick to bullion. Counterfeits do not affect the precious metals markets like how they drive down the price of numismatics and other collectables.

The problem with stamps wasn't the quantity of commemoratives, but the shitty 4 color printing as opposed to engraving, stamping, etc. Having said that, the old stamps have increased dramatically.

A comment about how to save the Mint... in the four years I've been collecting coins just about everyone has complained about the Mint at some point, and some are valid complaints... now, if you want to see the Mint change something the people that can do that are your state's Senators and your member of the House... not once have I ever heard the coin community decided to work together for a long term sustainable plan to put pressure on elected officials to create new laws the Mint should follow! I have no hope that will happen because it's easier to complain instead of putting in the time to actually organize... which is hard as hell to do, but in my opinion the only way to get the Mint to improve!
