The Clone Who Was Left Stuck On a Remote World For 20 Years - BL-1707 'ABLE'

The TRAGIC tale of the Clone Trooper who was left stranded for 20 years on a remote world, before being found by Luke Skywalker.
Only one year after the Clone Wars began at the fierce battle of Geonosis, a squad of Clone Troopers were flying high above the surface of the Jungle plant Lubang Minor, when their Republic gunship was shot down by droid forces with a burst of flames. Unfortunately, every Clone on board the ship was killed in the crash, except for one. I’m going to break down the tragic story of how this lone survivor was left stranded in the dense Jungles of a remote world for 20 years after his brothers were killed around him.
The story begins on the damp, jungle world of Lubang Minor, where a shadowy figure is standing among the thick plants, watching as a group of bright figures enter the sky. These figures are X-Wings, led by Rebel pilots, Luke Skywalker and Arhul Narra
The group of Rebel pilots eventually touch down on the grassy surface of the planet, where they hope to set up a rebel listening post, to scout imperial communications going through this sector of the galaxy..
The other Rebels pilots are ready to relax as soon as they finish setting up the communications spying equipment, but Luke Skywalker on the other hand is eager to explore the vast jungles of the planet, and get some practice with his father’s lightsaber. Wedge Antilles and Zev Senesca are concerned for his safety, but Luke knows that the force is with him and that if worst comes to worst, he will always have his lightsaber with him, ready to defend from any threat.
As Luke is traversing through the thick vines of the soggy jungle, he comes across a group of rocky grave stones. Luke wonders “if this planet is uninhabited, who are they… or who were they?”. Luke quickly continues to survey the area surrounding the Grave, where he comes across a rusty, badly damaged Republic gunship all the way from the Clone Wars. Luke quickly pokes his head inside the horribly overgrown Gunship, but finds nothing and nobody inside. Knowing that this discovery could put the Rebel alliance listening station in severe danger, Luke rushes through the thick roots of the jungle, pushing away anything in this way. He finally arrives back to the Rebel outpost, where he falls to his knees because he had been running so fast.
Luke frantically reports to Commander Narra that while he was walking in the jungle, he found a Grave Site and a wrecked ship, which he thinks might be from the Clone Wars. Before he can finish his sentence however, a barrage of green energy bolts fill the area, as a squadron of Imperial Tie fighters arrive at the Rebel Outpost. The barrage of enemy fire continues, as Narra orders Luke to get aboard his ship, in hope of taking the Tie Fighters out before they can do any more damage.
Unfortunately however, a large imperial sentinel class landing craft arrives in the jungle world, preparing to deploy a massive horde of Stormtroopers. As the imperial landing craft touches down on the grassy surface, the stormtroopers begin their march towards the Rebel outpost.
While this is going on, many rebel officers are killed by the increasingly harsh advance from the imperials. The leading imperial officer demands that his men send out speeders to cut off the retreating Rebels, but he and his men are absolutely stunned when they see a man walk towards them in Phase 1 Clone Trooper armor. At this point, we learn that the shadowy figure from earlier is actually an original Clone of Jango Fett from the early days of the Clone Wars, with the designation number BL-1707, nicknamed ABLE.
Because he believes that the stormtroopers are actually his Clone Brothers and that the Clone Wars are still ongoing, he rushes towards them and stands up straight, reporting for duty. You can imagine just how much pain and how many memories are flowing through this stranded Clone’s Mind after losing his entire squad of brothers, and then discovering that there may still be hope. Let me know down below how you feel about this.
The imperial officer unfortunately believes that this is a trick setup by the rebels, and orders his men to fire on the old Clone Trooper immediately. Able is absolutely shocked that his own brothers would fire on him, and begins to flee back into the dense jungle of the planet, feeling horrifically betrayed.
While this is happening, Luke defends Narra with his lightsaber skills, to which the Commander realizes that Luke is actually getting pretty good with his Jedi weapon. This is quickly interrupted however, by a rapidly descending Tie fighting, which is blazing towards them with immense speed. Luckily, Wedge is able to shoot the imperial craft down before it can fire on Luke and his commander, sending it crashing into the hard surface of the planet, bursting it into a bright orange fireball.
Luke and Narra then escape to a nearby crater, where they are confronted by Clone Trooper Able.

Sounds likes the last Japanese soldier to surrender, he spent 30 years in the forests of Japan completely unaware that the war had ended

Sad to hear Able Respected his Jedi Generals and he doesn’t know his brothers kill the Jedi, just following orders
I read the actual comic after watching this video and the line that really stuck to me was when Able said, "The Jedi are... gone? But they were our generals." Like he just sounds so sad :(

I don't think it was just an urge more like altered memories of the Jedi being cruel and non empathetic to the clones. To them it was as if they just woke up out of an illusion/mind trick
Finally, a cool character introduced that didn't die in a last stand 2 seconds after being added
Clone 1707? Spartan 117? Able? John? Halo reference? Sweet story, much love
I find it kind of heartwarming that there are stories of Clones surviving until the Galactic Civil War. As far as I know, clones in our world tend to have diminished lifespans, but Clone Troopers seem to be pretty long lived if Able, Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor are any indication.

Also you would assume they would call for rescue if he had any form of communication. He wouldn’t have received the order since he had no communication device.

Order 66 is not some obscure order hidden inside the chips only Sidious knew about. It's public information for the GAR alongside other contingencies to not rouse any suspicion. Because so many other contingencies exist it was deemed reasonable. The Jedi knew Order 66 was a thing. So when Able hears about Order 66 he'd more likely just go "oh so the chancellor used that"

so when he heard about order 66, it didn't trigger anything. to me, this says that any of those orders had to come from the emperor, and be authenticated somehow by the inhibitor chip for them to work. a subsonic key to decrypt the order, or something like that.

@@wor575 if the jedi knew order 66..which was very specific about jedi...wouldn't they have it removed? or at least be highly suspect of it? jedi:"so, this order 66 is specifically about killing all of us..." emperor: "yup" jedi: "but you promise not to use it." emperor: "sure" jedi: "and you want us to lead these clones into battle as generals?" emperor "that's the plan" jedi "why, that isn't suspicious at all! I'd ask The Force for advice, but we're not on speaking terms these days...where do I sign up?" emeperor (evil cackle) "right here!"
Bet this clone would meet Rex sometime and Rex might have removed his inhibitor chip just in case.

Able appears to be the “showtime” clones. The ones who were the first million, truly loyal to Jedi as the showcase of the Caminoan product. Then clones became standard chipped and then they smacked Jedi like anyone else, while the first million was already out of duty.

Would make for a nice theory and works well with in canon. Could have been an easy way to bring some of these Legends clones in universe.
I could only fathom what my brother had went through. While I also had many a scrape in being separated from my brothers Able was completely alone with no one and nothing to talk to and no way to send an SOS. Id imagine his joy at the sight of a 'Z-95' only to see some PDF or Mercenarys. Then to have a company of Soldiers fight the first group and they are in armor and it looks like your phase 1 armor so with joy you suit up and join what you think to be your Brothers expecting a second of pause and some removing of helmets along with three cheers and cries of victory to welcome you back home. Only to have that shattered by being fired upone and the thought of 'WHY WHY! WHY!! WHY!!! after so long WHY are MY BROTHERS shooting at ME'.'Maybe...Maybe that first group can answer my questions'.

Huh, reading this comment in the typical Clone Trooper voice, whether that be aloud or in your head, does make this more effective.
this story was in a collection of star-wars one-shots that was in my school library. Able's one of my favs to this day.
I wonder if clone trooper able meets up with captain rex with the rebel alliance
As a kid when i read this i was originally freaking out, thinking the clone was Sev from the Republic commando series. Always thought it was a cool backstory and my first step towards seeing clones as more human
Phase I clone trooper armor has always been my favorite.
This is the perfect example as to how awesome the Clone troopers really were.
Is this canon? Because I’m interested for a sequel comic.

He appears a couple more times in the Empire and Rebellion story's by Dark Horse Comics. He served as a Rebel Commando and then later he encountered ancient Jedi Celeste Morne which was his last appearance as she turned him into a space zombie basically

I'm really enjoying your content. I havent seen these comics covered on the other main channels. Its refreshing and very well narrated, scripted and edited.
Probably one of the most interesting clone trooper story’s I’ve heard.
Able's story is sad. Not only did he get stranded on a planet for 20 years and lost his squad, but he would eventually end up being transformed into a Rakghoul. (Honestly want to see a video on that if it hasn't been done already.)

This was my first Star Wars comic book ever. It was given to me by my Aunt for a present when the only thing she knew about what I liked was "anything Star Wars" as my parents put it.
If luke ever gets his own animated series this story could be reintroduced into canon.
To those people wondering why he didn't do anything weird when he heard about order 66, it has to be directly from the emperor to work on the clones. Imagine if a clone orders a number 3 in some random restaurant only to be called "order 66" then suddenly loses it and murders the closest Jedi... No it doesn't work that way.

Able’s “Death” was sad bruh, that shit had me sad reading Vector when I was younger 😔.
Its sad how able had to see his clone brothers die and how he thought the stormtroopers were clone troopers😭
I remember this story from the Rebellion comic. It was probably my favorite story from that comic

This clone is a true soldier who still served by a Jedi he didn’t after the war still ended all those years ago
SF1, I gotta say it’s truly amazing how you’re covering all these canon comics, I’ve only mainly read all the marvel ones as I can’t be bothered reading the ones from IDW publishing as I don’t see them as important. Really good to get an insight on these. Keep up the great work!

Star Wars needs more stories like these in canon
Why would he be "oddly" familiar with a weapon he grew up using. Nothing odd about being familiar with the weapon you trained with.

He’s been on that world for 24 to 25 years, based on the time line, meaning Able is 26 years old and with an accelerated age of 45 to 50 years old

From what I remember when the Clones were dispatched for the war the average would be like 10 years old meaning they would be 20, if he was there for like 20-25 years then at best he would be like 30-35 or 60-70 years old.
He's like me in the original Battlefront 1 and 2 when my team has been wiped out and I'm frantically running around trying to secure the command posts by myself.

There should be a comic series called star wars after math, and it should focus on what happen to clones after the war or people, just a comic like this to bring the prequel and original trilogy together

I remember reading this comic a few years ago
He reminds me of the Japanese soldiers who were isolated from the rest of the world in the jungles for years until the lead officer turned himself in and surrendered on a beach in 1978 prior to this over the years and decades the soldiers kept on still fighting world war two in the jungle and even killed people
Wait so does that mean that he lived longer than the clone medic who got found frozen in the wreck of a sepy ship by pirates, or is that more in the future?
