The Clippers had a weak response to the Donald Sterling saga - Marc J. Spears | The Jump

Спорт

Ramona Shelburne and Marc J. Spears join Brian Windhorst and Royce Young to discuss "The Sterling Affaris," a 30 for 30 podcast series executive produced by Shelburne, detailing the situation during the 2014 NBA playoffs when an audio recording of then-LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling making racist statements rocked the league, and almost led to the Clippers boycotting their game vs. the Golden State Warriors. The podcast includes interviews with the likes of Doc Rivers and Blake Griffin.

Listen to the podcasts, its pretty good. It was a big story at that time and its crazy how quickly we forget. We talk about Kapernick kneeing and not getting a job because of NFL owners not wanting to deal with his political agenda. But Sterling just plain hated black ppl. Imagine that during this political climate.

I remember the controversy when it happened it was huge. It was a horrible thing to happen to a contender like the clippers at the time. But if it happened now we wouldn’t get a lick of rest about it. The guy was a scumbag and we know, but I just refuse to pay any focus, attention or light of day to this. Not saying we should forget about it, but it’s not worth our energy today.

It wasn’t a weak move. They played their hearts out for the fans and organization, not the crappy owner at the time. It would of been weak if they just gave up and folded and sat out.
