Tim simply will not post anything that isnt "KZread eligible" by his standards. We've likely missed a lot of songs that were good, but not good enough.
I am just amazed how Sammie and Chase kept jumping on and off the stage at the perfect times.

What a great song and the addition of the girls for the harmonies along with Darwin. Tim, you are a genius! Johnny is spectacular! Imagine playing drums and bass at the same time. That takes an over-abundance of sheer talent. You guys are absolutely the best! Please accept my most sincere condolences on the loss of the great Scott King. We were heartbroken when we heard. Rest in peace, dear Scott.

Reminds one of the early videos, with great music played before a very small audience. That's true humility. The song is a classic, and well-played and sung. Strange how the girls keep disappearing....Look at how the women perform: Chase moving around and lively, Sammy poised and sometimes motionless, except to play with her hair. I still like the way Sammy loosened up on Ain't Nobody Love--just perfect for that song. Well done all of you, especially that multitasking Johnny Pike.

You do realise that Chase and Sammie have been added in post-production using the “green screen” technique? The original, socially distanced performance from July 4, 2020 at Hapeville Ga featured Tim, Johnny and Darwin. Three more songs from this show - Early Morning Rain, Piano Man and A Day In The Life - are also available on this KZread channel.
Very clever way to get the backing vocals into the video!
I wish I could add backup singers to my life... 👍🤣🤣

Can Hardly believe this video only had 104,000 views. This is a classic song and F&F rendition is top shelf. There are a lot of people missing the boat on this video/ song

Fully agree it should be way more, but we need to bear in mind that less than 1% of KZread videos make 100,000 views and F&F’s channel has 90 of them…
I have never seen someone play Bass guitar, Bass drum and high-hat at the same time before.
That's one way to make sure your bass player and drummer are in sync!
Love how you included the girls in the vid. Their harmonies added the final touch.👍👍👍👍👍
Plays bass and works high hat at the same time. Unique.

And Chase looks across to Darwin while he speaks too…
Like on many other F&F covers, I can understand the lyrics better than on the original version.
I’ve been playing this song since my friend Stevie Goodman wrote it back in 1971. It sometimes is portrayed as “The Greatest Train Song Ever Written!” John Cash. Of course, it took a beer and version of the song that Arlo Guthrie produced that brought Steve and his family royalties that actually paid for his visits to Sloan-Kettering Cancer in NYC. Since 1967, Steve dealt with a short, terminal live span, due to leukemia. Initially, he was give a year to live. 17years later, he succumbed to the cancer. During that time, I got to accompany Steve on bass during the New Year’s craziness and be a part of the celebration that was and still is held so closely by those of us who were there. I’ll suggest 2 more of Steve’s tunes for you to cover. He did 2 versions of Just Lucky I guess. One slow and full of guitar riffs and fills; the uses a more uptempo feel. Steve’s taste in music ran the gambit from folk to Cabaret and the Great American songbook. And, not only are you celebrating City Of New Orleans but you celebrate the life of Steve Goodman and all his creations. Thanks for this, Tim! PS The technologies that you folks have mastered allow those 2 funky background singers to apply their voices and images to the performance.

I never got to see Steve Goodman perform, before he passed away in the early 1980s. In the summer of 1985 I went to the Winnipeg Folk Festival, mostly just tagging along with some friends as someone who barely knew what folk music was. It turned out to be a life-changing experience. Steve had performed at Winnipeg many times, and that's when I first heard learned about him and heard his songs performed. "City of New Orleans" became one of the four songs (the others being Stan Rogers' "The Mary Ellen Carter", "Wild Mountain Thyme", and "Amazing Grace") traditionally sung by all the festival attendees and performers at the closing ceremony after the Sunday night mainstage concert. I went to this event four more times through the 80s and 90s and sang this song with thousands of others each time.
I really love each and everyone of you but there’s something about Mr. Pike. Cool cucumber, nice guy, great drummer.
Have always loved Sammie and Maggie's vocals. But Tim, your singing is superb as well. Seems like you do a great job no matter what the style of music or the song. It is amazing all the vocalists in this group over the years can do lead or harmony with amazing skill.
Steve Goodman would be so proud.
As Emerile Lagasse would say, 'let's kick it up a notch!' Brilliant way to bring old footage into the present nt..
This is the best cover anyone has done of this song. I keep coming back to it. If any of you had written it, it would be better than the original.
Awesome guys..You never fail to knock a cover out of the park..👍👍👏👏👏👏👏💖💖

Love the outdoor gigs soo much
VERY creative, BUT sneeky, LOl LOVED it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol one of those you had to be there 😊😊😉😉 love it!
Johnny Pike just keeps on amazing me!
I knew you'd gotten the green screen some time ago - I think via a Facebook post right here on this fan page - but am fascinated by how well it works here.
I fell in love with this song in 1970 and in 2022 I still tear up when I hear it. Thank you F&F for a beautiful version of Steve Goodman's timeless classic.
Ha ha I just noticed the change myself absolutely amazing what we can now do with technology a wonderful edition to this video absolutely an amazing performance from everyone ❤️
Love them fossils! Love them foxes!! Love them Foxes and Fossils!!! Awesome!!!!!
Steve and myself shared a love for the Cubbies. RIP Steve.
Great song! and then voila!! excellent use of technology!!
The best, so good none better beautiful!
Terrific job to get the virtual foxes inserted so their feet were exactly on the floor. And just a great job in general!
That’s some great use of technology!
LOL ... I'm so glad someone else commented. I thought I might be going crazy seeing the girls looking superimposed in that video! Outstanding job, as usual!
Great job. I love how the Foxes the appear by means of "video magic"
A very pleasant Thursday afternoon surprise!
So much sweeter with the foxes singing harmony.
👋👋👋👋👋👋 from your fan here in São Paulo, Brazil.
I'm amazed at the bass player.... kick and hihat on one beat and playing the bass with all the passing notes... I'd like to try that... but it takes some brain separation. Tried to play pedal bass with the guitar at one time... only worked sometimes. You people are great!

He's their drummer, maybe that makes it a little bit easier.
My two Grandfathers were an Illinois Central Engineer and Fireman. As a young sailor I got to ride on the City of New Orleans. After chatting with the Engineer, he asked me if I'd like to ride part of the way with him in the engine. I of course said "yes". This was pre 9/11 of course. It was too cool!
Wonderfully performed - this should have more like 2M views. PS If you're taking requests: "It Never Rains in Southern California".... not sure there's a hit out there you all couldn't cover really well.
Howdy! I'm listening to this from Kankakee, Illinois, my hometown. I left crazy DC after nearly 40 years to return to my roots. The Illinois Central still runs through the town and blows its whistle at night, just as it did when I was a child, dreaming my dreams. So great to hear you singing this song!

Arlo Guthrie has never sounded better! Thank you for that cover. That's one of the ones I play by myself and somehow pull off.
Ok Tim, you're just showing off now! I love it! I have a funny story about the time I drove through Kankakee (It's a real place) but I'll save that for another day.
Loved it. Always liked that song. Adding the girls was a great idea.👍🇺🇸
Another great cover from The Fossils and dubbed in Foxes. Usually I say that F&F musicians and singers remakes of older classics are better than the originals. I will admit I like this version as well as Arlo Guthries’s original cut. But I have been a fan of the late Steve Goodman for a long time and I hate to say it; but I still like his version a little better. He was such a talented songwriter, musician and singer taken from this life way to early.
Chase! 😍 Arlo Guthrie just has to be impressed with that version.
Wonderful one of my fav songs F & F made it better
#1 cover band in the US it's not even close. If you think playing bass and drums is easy I'd think again
Tim, You Mastered the “Outlander” time travel technology🎼‼️ I have been working on that since 2014- Yall beat me to it🎶‼️ Awesome Editing and Production‼️ Yes, I see Yall Editing more like this🎸🎹 This was filmed at YALL’s alaMater???? I know Yall remember bands, “Choice” and “Riverstreet”. I exchange a few words with Mike Terrell from time to time. Old GAINESVILLE HIGH RED ELEPHANT Schoolmates‼️ I LOVE YALL and miss SCOTT KING🙏🏻
With the Ladies as Back Up, it Really Spiced It Up 1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. Psalm 95:
Big fan of F& F for years now and of course Steve. Miss him, i'm from the KKK area and my wife was from there. Thanks again
Wieder ein gemütliches Stück mit der wunderbaren💖 Sammie & Co. F-es F. L.Gr. f. Hungary
again, bravo, bravo, bravo.
Such a great song.
wonderful rendition of the song that memorializes a way of life that has sadly disappeared.....Thanks for reminding us with F&F beautiful harmony!
Tim, this was awesome. Not sure why after following you guys for a couple years I’m still amazed at how good each new song is. Would love to get to see you all in concert! Thanks
May the 4th be with F& F!
My Paternal Grandpa was born in NW Louisiana. Thanks to Explorer La Salle! * Love, Cav in Oregon. *
Very clever. No matter how you all do it, it is SUPERB.
Angels (Foxes) appear when they are least expected! great song great video thanks!
Wonderful. Steve Goodman RIP 1984. This song, so incredibly play by the group, ties together John Prine, Kris Kristofferson and Arlo Guthrie. Such great tunes and memories. Thanks.
Was driving from New Orleans to Houston when this song came on radio.. What was odd to the north of me going west was a freight train. Great memory.
The Fossils are amazing but the foxes add so much!!! Awesome 👍👍👍
How cool !!! Sammie and Chase flashing in and out. Love this. 🙂
love the steely jingle jangle guitar sound!
Sammy is always gorgeous but this my favorite. Stunning! Love that woman.
Always loved this song! Doesn't hurt that I actually grew up in Kankakee! About 60 miles south of Chicago. ;) Still have relatives there too! :)
“ I’m just thankful for been a part of this family of joy, and love …God bless you..
Only one thing better than foxes' and fossils in studio and thats LIVE
Very nice. I've complained before about only being allowed one 'like' per video, when all these F&F efforts deserve stacks of likes. Those complaints didn't do any good, so now I'm going to complain that I can't even give a 'love' reaction like in Zuckerland. I really like the post production vocals, and green-screening Sammie and Chase onto the stage was the cherry on top of an already delicious cake.
Wow, nice job on an all time classic 👏
An American Classic, great to hear.. Arlo Guthrie, i think..Performed with perfection..What ever you guys do, you do it well..Harmonies are brilliant..

Arlo popularized it but Steve Goodman wrote the song. Arlo also changes some of the wording in his version, and this wonderful rendition uses Arlo's changes.
I often was fortunate to hear Steve Goodman many times on late night radio with Vin Scelsa on WNEW (?) in NYC. Always a great guest and generous performer. He passed too young but his music lives on. F&F, Steve is smiling down on you.
Virtual Foxes. COOL! Love your talents.
I love the green screen girls! Wonderful way to add them to the song!
One of my favourite songs since I saw Steve Goodman do it at Cambridge Folk Festival in 1973. Thanks for a great version of a tribute to times gone by.
Peace man. Good that the lady foxes droped by
Nice to see another "bass player who plays the drums at the same time". Those harmonies are amazing as always!!
Love the little guitar lick that sounds like Long Tall Glasses by Leo Sayer, anyway what a wonderful rendition of a great song.
Always so clean, even with the live performance part. I feel like Salieri in the movie Amadeus... Enrapt by the music but green with envy over the musical talent God didn't give me.
Voila! Sammie n Chase. The guys. A great song and good times!
This is my music! True American talent. Thank you! 👍👍👍
Johnnie is incredible. Drums and bass at the same time! That ain’t easy. Add a harmonica and he will be a one man orchestra. Nice work Tim and Darwin! Stellar!
So much talent.
Fantastic performance. A favorite of mine.
Fabulous!!
What a pleasant surprise! Sammie and Chase beamed in perfectly!
Great song that I haven't heard for too long.
Magical backup harmony ladies. Just fabulous.
Ah yes! Advanced tech to add to the band. I love it! Good job!
One of ma fav'rit songs (even warble it m'self) but oooh I'd love to have those beautiful and tuneful gals to back me up - as Tim well knows, heh heh.
Is there anything these guys can't do! Tim ripped it!
Great song; outstanding performance!
OMG, I LOVE this!! Great song, great production! I always thought those Foxes were kinda magical... FACT!! OBTW, Johnny Pike is pretty magical also!
Great rendition of this Steve Goodman classic! Well Done F&F!!
That is impressive.
