Love this movie. It is one of those rare gems that was completly underrated. The grim atmosphere, the soundtrack, the cast, the action, the vast number of badass moments, the villains....it was all good. There was not a boring moment in that movie. To this day I have no idea why it wasn't a massive success. Ppl got no taste these days.

Anytime this movie is on I will watch it, I watch clips on KZread all the time. One of the best movies, best series actually!! I’ll take Riddick over Wick any day!

Love that instead of mounting armored turrets, they literally just strapped on a guy with a rifle.

Makes sense for a light weight ship like that. Instead of adding the additional armor and electronics etc etc. Just adds weight, especially considering the ship seems to have VTOL capabilities which means weight balancing is that much more important ^^

The reason I like these movies so much is cause they felt so 80s-ish. Even the dialogue and how the actors like Tombs delivered there lines. Had Alien/Predator character vibes to it.

A lot of people think the ship is DESIGNED to strap gunners to the sides like that but its more likely that the ship is just a troop transport and the Mercs DIY'ed some straps onto the sides for hunting their targets.

@@SlemosterThat’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard. How is strapping two guys to the side a troop transport? A TROOP transport vehicle is usually larger to make more room for troopers. That thing doesn’t look like it can carry even 15 guys which is usually the size of a fireteam.

The second movie borders on silly - 'Necromongers' is a very silly name for the badguys, and they're pretty stock standard, but Vin Diesel is just so good as Riddick, and the character is so cool that it ends up being awesome anyway. The 3rd movie is kind of a return to the roots kinda thing, but that just means it's awesome. 😊

@@lk6912 No. Different planet but pretty much the same circumstances. Riddick is being chased by Bounty Hunters. He crashes on a planet loaded with vicious space monsters that only appear at a certain time. Everything jumps off in the final act of the movie - monsters vs bounty hunters vs Riddick. There's a few twists and pretty much everyone dies. The movie ends with potential for a Part 4, which I would totally be down for.

Riddick is actually based off a Drow Rogue that VIn Diesel played during a long-running D&D campaign. Thus the twin daggers, the sneakiness, the light sensitivity and whole.... chaotic neutralish thing.

story seems to be highly reminiscent of the whole Saiyan/Super Saiyan story... the last of his kind... prophetic to be the only race that could kill a certain enemy (Freiza), so the person who heard the prophecy kills all that might be a threat to his kingdom, but one baby got away.... yeah... totally a rip off of the Namek arc in Dragonball Z (Kai), which in turn, was a ripoff of the whole Superman story.....

Well, being that the Witcher movie he started in. Basically was him playing out a D&D character...later on Geek & Sundry KZread Channel. He gamed with a bunch of nerdy Voice Actors as said character and critted TWICE! In that one-off game. It was rather fun to watch.

Great character, gotta hurry up and make more movies before Vin Diesel gets too old.

I kind of like it. It's easy to get carried away with ship design and send a stupidly OP heavy fighter to take out Riddick, but it's not realistic. Just like it's not realistic for current-day bounty hunters to be flying around in Apache gunships.

Tombs has just as much reflexes as Riddick. Although it’s cool to see Riddick stop just inches before tombs’ neck you gotta remember that tombs had to see the blade coming in order to stop so that he wouldn’t get his head chopped off.

The cinematography in this movie is amazing. Especially when the Deathmongers arrive and the subsequent scenes. Absolutely amazing.

Riddick is the true master assassin

Watching this scene makes me realise Vin Diesel would actually be a really good choice for Wolverine. Vin is short, stocky and incredibly strong, just like Wolverine. He's got the gravitas and the growl. Slap some high quality wig/facial hair on him, I think he'd actually be really good

I don´t think Riddick has respect for him. He rarely has some respect for anyone and Toombs is no real danger for him. He caught him only when he wanted to be caught. It seems more like Toombs is such a loser for Riddick that he even doesn´t bother to kill him because it´s more funny when he´s alive. :D The only mercs Riddick had respect for were daddy Johns and Dahl. They were obviously professionals with professional gear. BTW are the bounty hunters a real thing in the USA or is it only movie stuff?

There were some rumors about TV series called Merc City, which should be about mercs from Riddick´s universe but I don´t know if Toombs would be there too or if the series will ever be made. But this universe is so cool and interesting there could be made endless number of spin-offs and backstories. Unfortunatelly this is probably never gonna happen because it´s not mainstream, commercially extra-successful stuff.

Actually surprised to realize Riddick went non-lethal in this scene. Yeah, he left them stranded on a freezing planet, but he didn't kill them personally. That's pretty rare when he's not on a timer.

The third guy definitely was killed. Rocks broke his fall. Riddick wasn't purposely saving them. It's more accurate to say he didn't care, he just wanted the ship. All he had to do was cut a strap/ pull a guy out the door. Gravity did the rest. By this point, Riddick is in survival mode. Though he does occasionally kill for sport (the tea cup was him entertaining jack and killing him quickly got the idea across to the rest to piss off).
