It was born of hard times. Liverpool and the north were still mired in years of fallout from the long, damaging recession that had taken place. A recovery had started to take hold in the south in the second half of 1986 and was starting to reach into some southern parts of the Midlands by the time this song gave the Christians their debut hit early the next year. The construction sector seemed to be one of the first to see the green shoots of a recevory,it seemed.

No life we''re living when there''s no time for giving No sign of loving in this age of push and shoving. Another boy with a broken heart can''t you see the pressure tearing me apart? Oh there''s so much for me to overcome should I stay and fight? Well where else is there I can run? How can I get out? There''s no way I can get out! How can I get out? There''s no way I can get out! How can I get out? There''s no way I can get out! How can I get out? There''s no way I can get out! No life we''re living when there''s no time for giving No reassuring can end what I''m enduring. I''m looking hard for the slightest sign Hear your words echoing around my mind. I''m starting to believe what the papers say Yet one more blow and I''m reeling but can''t run away. How can I get out? There''s no way I can get out! How can I get out? There''s no way I can get out! And if you''d open your eyes you''d know there''s so much you could do. Oh if you''d open your eyes you''d make a thousand wishes come true. Well this must be one of the troubles of a-living in forgotten town. Don''t get me wrong hear the hollow words a-ringing now the chips are down. No life we''re living when there''s no time for giving No reassuring can end what I''m enduring. How can I get out? There''s no way I can get out! . . . And if you''d open your eyes you''d know there''s so much you could do. . . . Well this must be one of the troubles of a-living in forgotten town. Yes, Garry looks about 6'4 to me. He's a lot taller than his brothers Russell and the sorely missed Roger, which is very unusual. Male siblings all tend to be of a similar height. The Christians were a great band from Liverpool that SHOULD have been huge, but for bizarre reason they never were.

My dad introduced me to this song about 3 weeks ago, I must of listened to it at least 20 times. Very underrated in my opinion

The Christians were pretty big in Scotland. Such a shame people got them mixed up with the Shitehouse family such a shame because the Christians lyrics spoke to everyone.

Currently on a mission commenting on music reactors videos to get them to feature The Christians as no one has done a reaction video on youTube for this brilliant group! Feel free to jump on the bandwagon as they deserve the exposure and a new group of fans.
