That one with the unusual flavor combinations really resonated with me. I grew up near a chain of restaurants that served bagels. They used to sell smoked salmon-flavored cream cheese, and one time, I was there with my mom, and I begged her to get me a chocolate chip bagel with the smoked salmon cream cheese. She agreed, but with the understanding that if I didn't like it, she wouldn't be getting me something different (which was fair, and I was fine with it). Well, I ate that whole bagel, and it was actually really good. Weird, but good. It's the only time I can think of that I ordered something with a weird flavor combination, though.

in all aspects of market though, sometimes the customer doesn't know what they actually like. You'd be surprised how many times complaints are rooted from customer's own requests. Even though at that point itd be the customer's own fault, it can be quite a hassle to deal with depending on the customer and sometimes using discretion on certain requests makes a lot of sense.

On the one that wanted the odd flavor combinations, the customer is always right...in matters of taste. But maybe have them sign something that says they know what they're ordering, so they can't just demand a refund because the combo tasted bad.

No, the customer is not always right. The baker should refuse to make a product that could tarnish their brand. They are not required to make anything a customer wants. They should concentrate on making a quality product.

The origin of Blue Raspberry was because Otter Pop (if memory serves) was making a raspberry flavor, but since there was already a few reddish flavors such as Cherry, Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, etc. they colored it blue to tell it apart-- and complete a rainbow of flavors.

Well I just learned something today, I always knew that blue raspberries were never real, but I never realized that there is a "blue" raspberry native to where I live. In which I can concur that they are indeed very sour, as when I used to attend camp they were everywhere in the forest that the camp was in. Yet we thought they were black berries, but instead they were actually black raspberries.

Do you want another fun fact? The reason that "blue raspberry" flavor exists at all is because the dye needed to make it actually raspberry color (kind of a pinkish purple) turns out to be a carcinogen! There used to be realistically colored raspberry candies and the like until it was discovered. It also had the benefit of separating it from all the other "red" flavors, like cherry!

I work as a bartender, and when I was new, I would hold up different bottles to show what alternatives we carried in rums. The customer would then try and grab the entire bottle over the bar, and got kicked out.

Strawberry lemon chocolate actually sounds decent ngl... The lemon adds some acidity and along with the strawberry can definitely contrast and dampen the overwhelming richness of chocolate alone. Though thats just how i feel abt chocolate cake lol

Once I went to the bakery to show pictures from Instagram my daughter gave me, for her dream birthday cake. I was in awe with the outcome because they did all the external decorations etc but also took effort to put fresh strawberries inside like on a pic... I didn't order it inside, I only asked for flavor and decoration in the description, we didn't want to make it too much for the bakers - they have hard work already - and they did it anyway, it was awesome. My daughter still remembers how great her cake was 😅

Why do I love your eps so much? If someone had described them to me I would have just shrugged and gone about my day. The music should annoy me. But I find the whole mixture to be like some delightful, wholesome bucolic crack. Also the gender reveal... genius!

Flashbacks to the baker hired for my wedding calling to cancel the order of a marble cake with lemon frosting *a week after it was accepted* and trying way too hard to convince me a surprise raspberry filling that half the attendants are allergic to is necessary.

I once made a tangerine bread cake, with pineapple inside and chocolate frosting. It has been the most delicious cake a have made and several people have asked me to repeat it for their birthdays. Never be afraid of weird combinations.

"You can't carry heavy things" And their mom carried them for 9 months 😅

"Marzipan is a safer option than buttercream!" Right, because it's known that buttercream has nuts in it, right...?"

The first few times, probably. After that, I'm dead certain someone in that house tried it. They might have thought it was godawful. Might've thought it was actually pretty good. But it's your thing, and they don't care anymore.

The “alcohol bakes out” customer honestly is pretty believable. That particular myth is *very* entrenched and widely-believed. It’s an understandable misconception.

Blue raspberries is a drink my daughter has. It's a slush drink which tastes like raspberries but looks bright blue. It's steeped in food colouring. I'm guessing this is what the customer thought when she went to the shop. 😅😂😂😂

"only 70%"? Guinness is only 4.2% alcohol. Remove 70% and that's 1.26%. The recipe I googled called for 2 bottles, so that means someone would have to eat almost 2 whole cakes to get the alcohol of 1 beer. I think the kids will be fine.

As far as I know almonds aren't nuts. They can lead to an allergic reaction but there are people with a nut allergy who can eat it. But I would agree that if you do not know for sure,marzipan does not seem like a safe option

almonds aren't "true" nuts, but the most common nut allergy is tree nuts, which almonds do fall under, so either way, marzipan is not at all a safe alternative for someone with a tree nut allergy

Many people who commonly think of nuts are likely only considering the culinary term. Botanical nuts generally have a hard outer shell that contains the seed that would go on to germinate, and it’s this we sometimes eat. Chestnuts and hazelnuts being examples, and acorns; I think 🤔 Hazelnut chocolate spread is obviously an allergen risk, but there are many others. If I recall correctly there are two main nut allergies - tree nuts and peanuts. But peanuts are pulses like beans, lentils and so forth. Typically people who have nut allergies are not allergic to ALL types of nuts. And almond allergy is far less common among the different kinds. However, if you do not specifically know what that person is allergic to, NEVER take a chance. ​Not worth the epipen. @@bloodknyte

Traditional Italian tiramisu just uses coffee, no alcohol; the version with liquor is Anglicized, and the ladyfingers are already baked _before_ the soak, so it doesn't even cook out. That said, (a) there's nothing wrong with modifying recipes in either direction, (b) it's *also* not a good idea to get kids hooked on coffee, and (c) another variation involves just _brushing_ the ladyfingers with the liquid instead of soaking them so there would be barely any coffee/alcohol in them anyway.

In the US we do have hot dog pastries. A bit different than an eclair and so good. Open on the top and filled with cream and chocolate.

Blue raspberry is a real flavor. It's blueberries and raspberries mixed together. I made a pie and it was awesome!!!! Tasted just like the candy
