It really helps that she's both the manager and the owner. It empowers her to be able to make her own decisions and have final say. Also, she is too kind most times and you really have to push her or be completely wrong for her to say no.
My favorite is the authentic food: "here is a chocolate brownie with an Irish flag in it"

To be fair, being a tourist with minor knowledge of a local language can sometimes be worse than being a tourist with no knowledge of the local language. I know low-to-mid level Japanese (basically 3 years of high school), but struggle with complex vocab. When I go to Japan, I actually find opening conversations with Japanese gets me into worse situations than just opening with "English okay?" If they seemed bothered by English, I would _then_ segue into Japanese "a~ daijoubu. Nihongo mo ii desu" - which would cue them into my status as "knows Japanese, but not fluent" and properly set expectations, allowing us to mostly pantomime and use simple words to navigate our way through a conversation. On the other hand, the first time I went to Japan, I tried to politely meet them at their level and cold-opened my first interaction with "Sumimasen~ toire wa doko desu ka?" (excuse me for interrupting, where is the nearest toilet?), which got me a fluent Japanese response equivalent to "If you head down this concourse and hug the right wall, you'll eventually pass a lavender-colored ticket machine. Take the escalator near that ticket machine down to the basement and you'll take a slight left (not the hard left) at the 5-way intersection once you're down there. It will be kitty-corner to the pet shop." to which I only understood "uhh... I think I heard the word right, then she said a bunch of stuff, then left twice... Something about the number 5 and maybe something about an animal store?"

I will say for the coffee cake one that here in the US coffee cake actually doesn’t have coffee in it, it is instead a type of cake that is meant to go with coffee, so if that customer was American, that may have been the cause of the confusion.
@elirewasout

It's the same in Canada. My cousin, he is English, didn't get any that he was offered because he thought it had coffee in it. I've made cake with coffee, it makes for a wonderful cake, but then people don't expect it to have coffee. I like to label my baked goods with an ingredient list, safe to say.
The reaction she makes when the customer says what will happen to the toilet. 😂😂😂 watched it many times but not enough.
These people all vote. Their intelligence, kindness, wisdom, critical thinking, empathy, and pattern recognition there match here.
The german scene is so accurate 😂 perfect english and we act like we can't speak five words 😂

At first I was like "Aw no some accidental repeats!" Then I realized it's gotta be to make it 30 minutes for falling asleep. Made to order, how wonderful! Cheers, Alice!
My mother knew a man that opened a cake shop in our town after they all graduated. In a year he gained nearly 50 kg. Then at some point he just slimmed down. Turns out he ate so much of his cakes that he gree to despise the taste of sugar and refuses to eat anything sweet now
Customer - This donut tastes funny. Baker - that sir, is a bagel.😅
It is the same for alll service jobs, isn't it? I work as a private tutor and had a customer call me today who complained that I did make her son do calculations. I said: Yes... you ordered math tutoring. Of cours I had him doing calculations. Her answer: Why, he has a calculator.

I've said it to my best mate many times (to which he agrees as he's a bus driver in Leeds) that there's nothing as stupid or ignorant as the general public.
It's been years and it wasn't a bakery (how I now wish it had been)... With my very first computer and printer, I generated a large notice to display behind my counter... "I have many talents. Telepathy is NOT one of them!"
Honestly can’t believe how quickly your channel has grown, it’s absolutely amazing❤️ Keep up your videos, I love every single one of them

😂 I just love the "snarky" comments! True comic genius there!
You should add something inbetween each skit to indicate that it's a different skit when making these compilation types of videos, sometimes the skits just end very suddenly and I can't tell that it's a whole new skit until I understand it myself 😂 But it's a fantastic video, I've been binging your videos and I love seeing your point of view. What a delight you are! I can only dream of visiting your bakery, but I bet it's lovely. Have you ever tried using black cocoa for dye free black buttercream? Sugarologie has a couple of different recipes floating around the interwebs. If you're able to get your hands on some, it might be worth a try.
Oh, I have an explanation! I’ve never known coffee cakes to have coffee (more-so to be sweet treats served with/to be dunked in coffee) although, that cake looks obvious. I think it’s just an American thing.
@alastryona
9 күн бұрын
I was looking for someone else thinking that! In the US coffee cakes are white cakes with a cinnamon crumble on top (at least I've never had another kind). Cakes with coffee in them aren't as common and might be called something else like a mocha cake or just coffee flavored cake
The only thing here I find somewhat understandable is the black forest cake. Those traditionally come with alcohol (more specifically Kirschwasser) which is one of the main ingredients. So it would be kind of imoportant to make it really clear that it is a kid friendly version and not traditional. The rest of that reaction from that same person is funny though.
You have a lovely voice! In case you ever wanted to do bakery ASMR.. Whatever that is, I don't know but I'd probably watch it
The best baker.
"Do you see me kneading the bread with my ear?" Too funny!!
You can't reject service?! Isn't there the right to refuse service?
I clearly shouldn't be watching before 6am when I'm tired... At about the 7.30 mark there are several repeated ones (rye one, lard one, 7 tier cake etc). I ended up thinking I'd touched something and somehow gone backwards and took a bit to realise some are doubled...😂

AMERICAN buttercream in a traditional Irish bakery?!
@katiemadden9413
19 күн бұрын
I’m not entirely certain, but I’ve heard American buttercream is often easier to use for professional cake decorating (because of its firmness) when compared to other more smooth, rich buttercreams; they just don’t hold up structurally in the same way. Irish buttercream sounds like it’d be absolutely divine on a cupcake though-sounds heavenly😋
If it makes you feel any better I have old lady hands too and I’m a very youthful teenager
Love this! Could watch for hours!! Xx
Ooookayyyy 2:10 that person was definitely on some type of drug 😂
Alice: *sings* "We don't have any ham" Penny the Talking Cat: "noooooo"
😂😂 smart funny baker girl... neat videos Alice , I like watching them 👌
LOVE THIS SO MUCH
“Hi, I bought this donut and it tastes weird” “That, Sir, is a bagel” And “The closest thing to a s’more you will be getting today is two slices of bread one on either side of your face and getting called a idiot sandwich” Got me dying 😭
0:26 - as a product demonstrator - this one hits me hard. I now refuse to answer the "which is your favorite?" question as I get those exact answers if I answer. "Oh, I actually think this one is really good." "Ew, that's my *least favorite* ." ... "Then why tf are you asking me???" I now just say "You're more than welcome to try one of each - that's the great thing about these demonstrations!"
9:28 I have worked for a chocolate shop, a bakery, and a pizza place, and at every one of these I get people who all assume it is a constant struggle not to binge snack. I'll admit the pizza one was the biggest challenge for the pepperonis; every time I get some for home I snack on a slice or five out of the bag and the instincts are strong.
I'm indian...!! Your videos and ur reactions...are so good...!!! ❤❤❤...! If I ever come to Ireland...I'll definitely visit ur bakery..☺☺☺😇😇😇😊.....Ur so cool..!!😊

I love your skits so much. This is great. One question: Earlier you said that you don't serve alcohol in your goods but later you said that you serve "Guinness Bread". Wouldn't it be alcohol aka Guinness beer in it? Or is it just a name?

To be fair: about the "can I get a carrot cake with no carrots?" I always like my corn bread to not have big kernels of corn in it. I just want the sweet corny-cakey part of the corn bread, not the vegetable itself!
For the doctor one, they’re COMPLETELY serious, I ate one singular gummy worm and had to wait like three hours 😭🤚🏻
I'm not a baker, but I do work in food service. I can still relate to a lot of this. Like the not being a mind reader thing-I dont enjoy playing 21 bloody questions in order to find out what you freaking want. I can also guarantee you that there is such thing as stupid questions. The number of times I've had people ask me what's on crumbed fish. Oh, and parents sending kids in and them not knowing what they're supposed to be getting... drives me nuts.
@9553shadow

Can't really blame the kids on that one.
In my family coffee cakes are cakes that you eat with coffee, so there’s usually no coffee in them
I heard "WASSAH!" 😂

"Fine" 😂
You need a certificate to use alcohol? 😅
Speaking as a butcher: I was once asked if I could trim a rack of lamb and dye the meat and bones blue, green, and red for a Star Wars themed dinner party. They dye meat blue when it’s for animal consumption only, it goes to zoos and safari parks etc. Is there a factory out there somewhere which manufacturers these kinds of special people?!
Also tiramisù traditionally has coffee in it, not alcohol (though a very common variation does include it)
Ro-shures. LOL Ro-chay! Ro-chay! But you know this.
