There’s really good tutorials out there that can help you to retopo properly

why is this in potato resolution?

You work with layers so interestingly. I noticed that you don’t turn off layers if you work in any of them. When working in this way, information from other layers is written to the layer. That is, the layers are not isolated from each other, as in Photoshop. Was this done intentionally?

Only one layer is in “REC” mode at the time

@@johnosaurusrex9496 Yes, I see that. But I noticed when working in layers that if the 1st layer is turned on (open eye), then when working in the second layer (with REC turned on), information is recorded from the first layer. I just checked and it is true. Information from a simply enabled layer is displayed on the layer where the recording is taking place. This is why I always turn off all layers (close my eyes), so that there are no side effects of layer information on the one where the recording is taking place
