LOL, I love dudes enthusiasm and I understand. I instantly became a fan of these guys from the first time I played Horizon, I immediately went out and tried to figure out who was responsible for all these amazing models and clothes, they are so beautiful, intricate, and technical.

OMG, the manual work it takes to create a dinosour is nuts. I was here trying to pick up some techniques to speed up my hard surface workflow. But instead I'm just gonna enjoy the show.

The whole re-topology process is such a drag and total creativity killer. I’m still amazed that this step hasn’t moved on from being so manual. You can see it’s a resource killer as they have to outsource the rebuilding of the artwork. Upto 30 people to clean up a model is crazy! Why do we still have to leave ZBrush to go to another package and then return! So counterintuitive. Dunno maybe it’s me but reptopo needs a revolution. Imagine how much more could get done if you could just stay within ZBrush start to absolute finish in terms of modelling. Maybe ai will yield some solutions…? Great talent and insight all the same.

they are doing retopo so they can build clean shapes. There are ways to do it in zbrush using z rememsher.

@@MohamedSamir-xi3ns Something really odd happened, and also pixologic said they didn’t recorded the talks, which is a blatant lie, because the original links to the livestream of day 1 and day 2 were made private on KZread for the sole reason they had the recorded talks of naughty dog and blizzard

@@THEINVISIBLEWARRIORR yeah, it seems that they took the VOD down and split the livestream into 2 parts. Day2 Part1 ends at the DC Bronze Statues. Blizzard was supposed to be after that, but Day2 Part2 starts with Square Enix. The same thing happened with NG on Day1. I didnt watch live, but if those panels were streamed like all the others, then the only way to see them would be if someone recorded them while they were live and uploaded them themselves

Their work looks amazing but does anybody know of a faster workflow within ZBrush to model the dinosaur machine? It seems like it was way too manual to have to individually clean up all those plates. Maybe I'm just in denial.....

I mean the modeling techniques are cool enough, but the actual art and designs of Horizon are just hideous looking. The mix of halo plates and tribal stuff just looks stupid. Everything is too clean and looks like a weird cosplay outfit. I feel part of this is also a failure of the games textures and materials, nothing feels lived in and grimey and natural. It looks like a bucket of trash dumped on every character. It's the literal definition to me of confused and busy art. It's just kind of bothersome to look at to me. To many different shapes, colours and materials on one asset, and then standing next to another. It's a good example of just because you can doesn't mean you should.
