The Changelings | Swedish Folk Tales
In this video we hear two local folk tales about changelings ("bortbyting" in Swedish) from Sweden. These are children or babies who have been kidnapped and replaced with troll or other supernatural children.

Changelings always scared me as a kid. But now I'm more fascinated by them.

As a mother it's a super interesting but also scary part of folklore for me, especially when you read the real-life cases 😔

@@AnnaBridgland yeah.....especially the cases were mothers tortured their kids thinking they were changelings.
You forgot to add the sad links with disabled and physically deformed infants. As a person who lived her life with hydrocephalus even with the morbidness of the stories found a connection to changeling myths as many versions claim the way to treat my condition was to give us back to the fae.

Yes I'd definitely mention it if I was going in depth on the topic, though this video was just a reading of 2 stories from the book :)

Glad you resurfaced this week... it's made excellent algorithmic suggestions to re-watch some of your excellent work on my phone and TV. I hate that I discovered your channel so late. I honestly joined your Patreon the very night I came across it. I really love some of the mythology and folklore channels here, but yours is by far the best. And your voice is like opium. I've yet to read your fairy tale that I bought for kindle because for some reason, it's incompatible with my device. (which is the most up-to-date, so I don't understand) I still haven't watched the video from that selection here, but I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for your work.
