I like the idea of these but I also remember them the first time around and they are impractical because the buttons are so small. People at school had them and could only press the buttons with a pen and so they got inky.

I think they are good fun but adding a steel strap and charging €90 for one is really pushing it.

I never had the issue in school. Was a life saver. Just sad some people I knew had much better Casio watches than me. Like databank and much more

I got the CA-53W yesterday. The one McFly wore in BTTF2

I still have mine, I think I bought it around 2002 ish, bought the 506 years later. Still wear it, although the tone doesn’t work anymore

I'm somewhat disappointed that none of them has a backlight feature despite being a modern update of the CA-53w. I remember when I was very little, saw someone wearing the OG CA-53w, and I was amazed about that watch that I wished to get one (unlike present-day me, I never knew about watches with backlight features back then, so I would be okay about the lack of backlight), but apparently my parents told me that watch is "too expensive".

Thanks for the video. the new CA-500w is just a chrome plated variation of CA53w, still no Countdown timer, no backlight. But it's hard to resist the temptation of the retro outlook, maybe get a black chrome version and replace a positive display from CA53w into it.

I agree, this is a watch you buy with your heart rather than with your head. Most people will buy it for the looks, and why not?

Do you have recommendations for aftermarket bands for a CA-53W? I would like to dress up my existing one.

Cant see any numbers in negative display even in daylight, its not a watch its wrist accessory

I have many Casio digital watches .. But I am not too keen on these calculator watches ... The buttons on the calculator are too small to operate... I am going to pass on adding this watch to my vast Casio collection.. I am however going to buy the silver A1100 series... I really like this design from Casio Thank you for this video.

I had two of these by accident (long story) so I gave one to a 10 year old I know who appreciates old school watches and likes Casios. He wears it every day to school and his teacher lets him use it in class LOL. I wear mine occasionally and appreciate that a variant of it appeared in Stranger Things, but it's best suited to kids IMO. My Casio DBC-32D calculator watch gets more wrist time and I really like it's look and feel. These are fun novelties, but if I need a calculator on the go I pull out my cell phone instead since it is less awkward to use.

The shiny resin case is the worst nightmare man, if the case must be resin with steel bracelet, so brush finished is still the best, like ae1200.

I have always had a love/hate relationship with this model. I really love the look, the history behind the watch, all the movies it’s been worn in, all that good stuff. The problem is the watch is tiny on my wrist. I’m not a huge man but not a small man either. My wrist are 7.5”. This watch is just so tiny it looks odd on me.

They are small alright. I like the databank series as well, larger sizes while retaining the retro futuristic aesthetic.

people wear this not because it's feature but because it's look high tech back then and now because it's look retro

Same module as the 53, so still no light. Disappointing again.

it would have been great if they added a backlight. I'm still not tempted to get one even though they are on sale right now because of this reason.

I wish for REAL metal case - that would be something. DBC-611 sucks, the dot matrix is 3 char len, its not usable at all.
