This is a horrible take. As a cardinals fan, depth isn’t the issue, it’s talent level. We have backend guys but we need the top end pitchers. Lynn and Gibson just eat 22 mil we could have signed an ace for. We’re not a big Market team either, we’re a mid sized one. We can’t be making these moves when we don’t need them. There are so many big guns this year we can’t pass up on.

The Cardinals are Top 10 in team valuation and arguably the most successful franchise in the entire NL. They can afford to pony up.

Cardinals have three starters over the age of 35, those three are bottom 5 in ERA and HR/9 and hits. Are you high? In what world are these retirees going to eat innings if they can't stay healthy? I’m a bit more hesitant to say that just yet. More moves need to be made. I’ll only be satisfied when that happens and if they’re good moves. Especially since, imo, the pitchers they’ve signed so far don’t indicate that the Cardinals are moving where I think they need to go: away from pitching for contact and toward pitching for strikeouts. The ERAs need to be A LOT lower thanks to the new rules against defensive shifts.

I like your take. Thinking Lance is going to bust his butt in the off-season to resurrect his career and shake off last year’s playoff nightmare. Gibson had a 2.45 era in September. So, hopefully, they’ve unlocked something there. Now, having said that, they need to sign a Yamamoto, Snell type, as well as one of folks like Severino, Manoah, Lorenzen etc., as well as at least one wipeout reliever. I know, easy schmeezy. 😁🙄 i wouldn’t touch glass Glasnow.

They’re improvements in depth compared to last season. Decent upside as well. Again, if no big name pitcher goes here, bad offseason. If they land a big name, yeah it was a damn good offseason
