"We weren't built to explore the stars!" He says, while they are on a facility on one of Jupiter's moons. IRL we would be extremely lucky to even make it that far, and if you've made it that far, then you have crossed most of the hurdles you would need to cross in regards to colonizing and exploring space. That line would only make sense if they were on Earth, earth's moon if we're pushing it.

I believe the "Long neck grabber" enemy was cut from the original Dead Space due to lack to time and resources that were unfortunately put towards the giant leg grab enemy that appeared a few times in dead space. This was mentioned in an interview Glen Schofield did in ares techinica where he mentioned 2 enemy types were cut due to the focus on the giant leg grabber enemy. Apparently it also costed EA several million dollars for that enemy alone. SAD.

Yes I felt this as well; the tone and feeling of melee combat immediately took me back to the first time I played tlou in 2013 and was blown away by how brutal melee felt, although for som reason melee in callisto feels less impactful in the long run. Disappointing sadly.

This is how I felt playing The Evil Within. There was a good RE4 successor somewhere under a horribly mismatched attempt to make TLOU combat, and it has masterfully created environments and stages balanced as poorly as possible. It feels like a thoroughly AAA effort where nothing comes together.

@@deadknight7295 Right? It's such an offputting game and I tried so hard to get through it multiple times. It took me ages to put together what was so wrong about its combat until I was watching a TLOU playthrough and it all clicked. Its level design just doesn't lend itself to the risky CQC style of gameplay at all.

This one hurts a lot in particular... Like you said, you can see bits and pieces of a great game here and there, but all of that starts to get buried under the piles and piles of shortcomings this game has... I still want to play this one day, but it's like you said, best to wait till it's charging peanuts on a steam sale, because I want to see it for myself on how baffling each and every one of their design choices were... Because it takes a lot of talent to replace the amazing quiet exploration and world building moments of Dead Space 1 and 2... With... Empty corridors, crawling segments and poop pits... Great video as usual man!

This game by accident or rather luck, became one of my favorite games to play these days. It just came at the right time for me. I’m at a stage of my life whereby I actually want a slow simple game with great visuals. I actually like the crawling and repetitive mechanics, that combined with the aesthetics, it just hits the spot for me. I completed the game three times (tried all difficulty levels), twice on dismembering mode and now on my second new game plus on hardcore. Also completed the dlc and made it to a high round on riot mode. Still can’t get enough.

I think you really hit the nail on the head on Schofield. Visceral (and EA Redwood) were doing great things before he arrived, and unlike say Maxis, they were less a team based on an auteur and more letting people do their passion projects (until they were cancelled by EA execs at least). It's interesting to see him unfiltered and sort of a victim of his own success like this

TCP is one of my favorite survival horror games. 🤷‍♂️ I liked the melee combat, which added tension to the encounters. The environments were dark and gave a sense of dread. Overall, it was a great experience for me. Was it perfect? No. The enemies could have been more varied. I think Dani could have been better written. The warden was underused. I think they were hoping to expand on the story in a sequel, which I am still hoping for.

the melee combat works in the last of us 1 and 2 because how risky it is while hitting, you are only dealing damage with 1 specific enemy and also exposed to others around it it also attracts nearby enemy due to the noise, a bad move for game with stealth is the recommended option so its not as frequent as The Callisto Protocol and you can feel the intense impact of it due to the risk

I like it. The rhythm and flow of the game work for me. But, I also wouldn't have paid full price at launch. If this launched for around $40 rather than 60, and they didn't run the hype train so much, that would've made a huge difference with the reception of the game. But yeah, a few obvious issues with enemy and boss variety, a little better balance of credits for unlocking upgrades, and a slightly more engaging stealth mechanic would at least take care of the main gameplay offenders. Personally, I'd give it 70% sorta rating overall and a few simple gameplay improvements would bring it up a lot.

Aparently Glen S. came up with the idea for this game back in 2005, (Og idea for Dead Space) revised it when he went on a psychedelic retreat in Arizona. would have liked if they expanded upon the secret socity aspect of the game like the movie "Martyrs" (2008) or Assassins Creed where as you progress through the story; you begin to realize that this secret organization has is claws sunk into ever facest of human life as we know it, a part of everything, maniacally pulling the strings with your average citizen none the wiser. Sadly its all detailed in the final moments and the DLC. Massive missed opportunity. Would be fascinating to explore this within the context of a horror story. Glen should have emphasized this.

Will you do any videos on Dead Space 1 and 2 or the remake? Also Callisto is still the biggest disappointment I've had in gaming in a long time. I played Dead Space back in 08 and I was 11 at the time and I fell in love with the game. and I've loved the series ever since. I wanted Callisto to be good so badly but it's just missing basically everything that made the first two Dead Space games good. At least the remake was good. that healed the wound a little bit.
