Since I did the female vocals, I can unequivocally tell you that they were: 'clatter crash crack, rattle smash bang, clatter rattle smash bang what fun... music, now dance, (giggle)'. It was taken from the song Cvalda by Bjork as featured in the movie 'Dancer in the Dark.' It's still weird to watch myself do that 7 years later. Chalk it up to crazy things you'll do to win a world championship. :)

This show in one phrase: "One gigantic acid trip"
I was on the snare line that year. The show was so complex and physically demanding that we didn't actually win a big show until about a week or so before Finals. Rehearsals on finals week (from what I remember) were similar to most other rehearsals where we did larger sets, tweaked things and kept trying to improve. After this performance, we all left the stadium in tears - but I didn't truly realize what we had accomplished until I went home and saw a video of the show for the first time.

I think it kind of started in 2008 actually, "Constantly Risking Absurdity" didn't pull any punches about what it was. I also think re:Rite falls more in line with that show style than it does with Felliniesque onwards. All fantastic shows though and in my opinion, the pinnacle of drum corps design.

I watch this video so much. It's ridiculous.
this show is insane and the fact that this feature is called “the machine” makes it 100x better
@Bluepies This was one of the highest scoring DCI shows ever with a 99.150, matched only by the Cavaliers in 2002. They won every caption, which has never been done before. This was decided by a group of highly trained professional judges who know what they are doing. When you can play as well as they do and judge as well as the judges do, then you can talk to them about how to do their show.
99.15 a well deserved score
if i were a judge i would be groovin' to that drum feature
I absolutely loved this show. Getting to hang with the line during tour was all kinds of fun!
most badass drum break..... ever!!!!!!
Trippiest DCI show ever.
EMCproductions brought me here to see Stan, the center tenor player! They all absolutely ripped it in there 🤟
Love these guys. They have been my favorite corp for decades. Yes!! I am that old.
I love that movie! Can't watch it without crying like a baby.
The judge at 1:23 is like "Is this real?"

One of the best shows ever! Loved this show. I got into DCI through the 2005 Cadets. I loved the vocal drum break especially when I saw them at that YEA camp. One of the best corps ever!
Wow, the time in this is just great! It's so solid.
jesus christ...nothing beats this.
Soooo amazing that drum break !!!!!!!
listening to this with high quality wrap around headphones is aweesommme
so much props to you ma'am!! That is a great show. And I'm sure it was one of hell of a trip.
I do know this show was one of the two highest scoring shows ever, and it's also why I was disappointed after I watched this show for the first time on youtube. I watched this show again and again, but I still had the same judgement.
I think the cadets invented the dab in this show
my freshman year we marched 4 songs from "Dancer in the dark", after our band director saw this show. Back then I thought it was the weirdest thing, but oh God would I love that kind of show this year, my senior year.
The drum feature is legendary
they owned that tenor solo
0:32 DAB
I've been curious about that for LONG time. Thanks for the clarification!
Tha last few minutes of this show is amazing, the Cadet's power is really showcased in this show.
all caption and sub-caption awards... id say thats as close to perfect you will ever get. EVER.
not to mention winning every sub-SUBcaption!
vocal drum solos = SO MUCH WIN
1:17-1:18 G-G-GET YOUR JACKET ON!!
best drum break ever!!!!
what i love about this show most is how MUSICAL it is. it's a brilliant arrangement everything done to be tasteful, not to show off
I have a question about this show. What was it like to get to that level of excellence and cleanliness? What was rehearsal like at that point? Was is just to get as many runthroughs as you could in before finals or were there still the smallest of things that you guys cleaned and polished? What was the feeling of that final product? It just seems like one of those things that even being a part of it you can't believe. Great show, and I have the most respect for you and the rest of the Cadets.
Tenor break at 0:39 grooves soooooo awesomely... It makes me bounce my head.. HAHA Cadets rock... I saw this show live in Crew Stadium.. So freiken ballin.
omg i love this
Still one of my favorite tenor breaks.
im not a cadets fan, or a fan of some of the things in this show... BUT THEY PUT THIS TOGETHER LIKE A TOTAL BOSS.
God, this is so fucking groovy.
The center snare this year is the drum instructor at my high school lol awesome show

:11 - 22 makes alot more sense if you've seen dancer in the dark. and this show is fucking awesome. all of it.
1:08 to 1:35 Blue Devils 2018 Drum Break, except live and not pre recorded.
i have no idea what to say bout this.....im mind blown!!!!
That's cool.
This is the drum feature that made me want to march Cadets
I just want it to be known that bass one played pretty much everything the snares did at :25. Good god.
my band director marched 05 cadets
this show broke the world record for the highest score. closest to perfect
if only the cadets played this many notes today:( thanks alot wgi......
insane xylophone solo at 4:06
Her facial expressions @ 0:17-21 will always crack me up. It's good to see someone gets into character when they are given something that awkward. She has seen Dancer In The Dark lol.
Best show ever close second was there 2011 since then they've been nose diving... one of the most silliest drum corps now a days
It's like a Japanese game show.
it would be really funny to see cadets do their shows as an all male corps
4:23-4:26 Quintessential drum corps aesthetic
It most certainly is
Marimba 1 in this show is now my pit/indoor percussion instructor
Hertas ftw.

@thsma2009 Def miss this!
crickle smash.. something else. it makes alot more sence if you've seen the scene from 'dancer in the dark' where she's in a factory, making music of the sounds she hears.
What is that girl saying at the beginning...I find it kinda creepy
1:13 SKADOOSH!!!!
I like how the two snares at 1:18 look at the door and through their hands in the air like "Ehh, whatever."
What is she saying at 00:10?

same here...
@Samonuh This isn't a high school, this is Drum Corp International. This specific CORP is called the Cadets.
1:07 is the best part
@TruthDrummer65 and the corpsgasm was around 4:16 to the end, if I'm not mistaken
Well I was just wondering how the person who did the female vocals feels after watching this. And I guess I got my answer! This is one of the reasons why I love DCI so much now!!!
@abbeysoon at 0:43 the tenor on the right is not wearing a clown hat. thats called the mike stand to capture the bands sound. it isnt actually attached to him
@Noclo You can find it on google video! There are a lot of shows with no cuts and high cams on google video.
thats probably y they didn't break 100.00 that show was amazing...i loved the battery break
