The builders BROKE the chair! / 1930-s chair repair
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Some years ago I restored this chair, but the client brought it back to me for repair, because his home builders accidentally broke the legs. This chair type was very common here in Estonia through 1920-1930. Its made of oak and the backrest is made of plywood and walnut veneer. Usually there is set of 6 chairs and a extendable table. After 1940 they started to use cheaper materials and also the design was simplyfied.

You are the Harry Potter of restoration ! Just amazing
It's interesting that the builders won't own up for breaking the chair. Probably ripped off the cliet too. Thank goodness for restoration masters.

Parabéns vc é ótimo no que faz admiro seu trabalho. Amo esse tipo de arte...
You restored it once? "Now it's time to do it right" funny in this context ... "Now it's time to do it PERFECT"... "So I decided to make a new one".... easiest choice of all.... PERFECTION!!!
In these days of throwaway Ikea stuff it's nice to see an expert craftsman give new life to a piece of old furniture.
I watched with one eye open whilst cringing when you sat back and reclined. Great job!

Brilliant work as usual. Heard my old mum’s voice in my head shouting “don’t lean on that chair”, when you tested it. 🥴😖🤣🤣

Yeah. My mom's line was, "That chair has four legs for a reason. USE THEM!"
Ай, да маэстро! И насмешил тонким юмором, и испугал падением стула, и удивил снова блестящим конечным результатом! Восторг и восхищение за артестизм и мастерство! 👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯😂😘
One thing I really like is that your workshop is so well lit and neat.
Oh my.. You leaned back in that chair and i immediately flashed back to my mother losing her mind at me as a child. 😂 Another great restore.

I can't say how I apprecieate that a pro like you shares his knowledge instead of keeping for itself. Thank you!
Excellent job friend, Stay Safe !!!.

I love your videos thanks. Don't change, I like how thorough they are!
Loved the surprized look when discovering the brake. Love when you have fun. But the color matching and finishing bring me the biggest joy. So satisfying!
Lol. I love the intro as well as all the work you do on these projects. Keep up the great work.
Nicely Re-Re-Restored
Hahaha! That opening shot! Very fine work Sir. I always enjoy and learn, thanks for sharing.
Your stain matching skills are unmatched!
I AM GETTING TO BELIEVE YOUR SHOP IS #1 ! THE BEST SHOP OF ALL THE SHOPS FOR RESTORATIONS AND WOOD WORKS I HAVE SEEN ON KZread! - AND I I HAVE SEEN ALMOST ALL OF THEM! 😎
Amazing restoration! Every single item you fix is done to perfection! I reallyyyyyy enjoy your videos, and get so excited each time you post a new one. Thank you for making them!
Looks great! Better than new. Literally better than new because the weak-grained wood was replaced with much better wood. Great job as always!
I like that you use hide glue and shellac on the old pieces. The chair gag was cute.❤😊
Мастер спасибо. Ок получилось. В начале юмор очень понравился. 😁😁. Отлично выглядит после реставрации. Удачи мастер.
You should have a contest to see who can guess how many clamps you have in your shop

Beautiful old chair with nice lines. I’m glad you could save it. If I hadn’t watched you do the repair, no one would be able to convince me it was done. Great work!🤗🐝❤️
I am a Carpenter and I started my career in the US AIR FORCE. My first duty station was in Germany. I learned so much from my German masters! I loved it so much I was stationed there three separate times.
Отличная работа. Сделайте обзор вашей мастерской.
I love when you show your sense of humor.
The reconstruction talent of a physician! Well done, sir.
You are an amazing craftsman. I could watch you all day. I watch other people repair items but you are by far the best. I am not just saying that, I just started watching your channel a few weeks ago. Please don’t stop.
As always, beautifully done. Nice that you were able to save it and shame on them for breaking and not telling the owners... You do amazing work!
Ladies and gentlemen, the Master!
second , actually i think it is my third time watching this, the end makes me smile
I found an old rocking chair for patio. It's not as bad as your projects but you inspire me tear apart n fix. Thanks for showing details. Your awesome

Wow. That's sneaky of people. Why couldn't they be honest and just tell you it broke. I'm Glad you came to the rescue and saved the day again!😊

Throw away society is running so huge! We need to go back in our ways.
Such a plain design for a chair shows what can be done with straight lines and a few simple curves. Enjoyed watching the restoration process.
Beautiful.
I have the utmost respect for the restorations you do and how you do them, I do learn a lot watching these videos. You and Chester are by far the best restoration guys out there so far, keep up the good work 👍
Do you show customers your videos? They should appreciate the skill and effort they are getting for their money.
Блин, у меня при испытании стула сердце в пятки ушло! 😅🤗❤️🔥🔥🔥
Excellently done
Thank you for the written comments
Mi vida que sentido tan brillante con tu sentido del humor.
It’s good to see furniture repaired rather than thrown out which happens all too often. Well done.
Very well done as Usual AT.
I’m so glad the algorithm suggested your channel. I’m really enjoying the content. Thank you.
"Just kidding ".....🤣🤣🤣🥰 great job
Your finish work really brings the repair home...That lean back test, was EPIC! You're brave to do it video! Great work!
great restoration
Never mind good as new. This is better than new.
You just can’t trust those damn sneaky builders!
You are too funny! Love your work! Am binge watching all your videos
Sr. your work is so professional and carefull and clean! It is just wonderfull and inspiring. I was thinking If some day you could show us more of your skills and patience making a rocking chair from scratch.
Another excellent job from the Billy Bob Thornton of furniture repair!
New sub because you deserve it and i love learning from your abilities. Others would toss the pieces and go for much easier pieces to update. Not you, there is hope in every piece you see. Very impressive!
I like your videos. Your humor is great. Thank for all I learn from your videos.
If it gets broken a 3rd time just restore it and keep the damn chair yourself, lol! As always, excellent work!
I am not a builder or carpenter. I watch these because workmanship is something I can very much appreciate. So, please excuse my ignorance on the subject when I ask, "Why make a template of the piece if only one needed made? Why not just mark out the new wood straight from the old piece?" I would love to be educated here. Thanks! 😊

Hi - Late reply but maybe you are still interested. In a previous video, he showed that the template is used as a guide that runs along the router bearing as the bit cuts the shape in the new wood. Perhaps you are asking why not just make the new wood the same way he is making the template? It seems it is easier to shape the thinner template and cheaper in case of a mistake; the new wood is often thicker and more expensive and perhaps less risky to cut with the longer router bit using the template as the predetermined guide.

Thanks! I´ve been in Paris, every house looks like a masterpiece. By the way, Estonians discovered recently that we have one lighthouse built by Eiffel himself.

I just love watching you restore furniture. I’m also amazed at how you match up the staining to perfection. I guess that comes from years of practice. You are a master at what you do. ♥️♥️😊👍👍

Love the added humor! Great job on the restoration. And I adore your work uniform.
Chairs are the things that hold us. Therefore special attention goes into materials and workmanship. And grain matters around stress areas. Technically and aesthetically great work! Thanks. (I had no doubts when you tested the chair.)
