He was bullied in high school, college, and even in Arizona. Just because he was different. People can be A#1 aholes sometimes! To bully your own teammate because he works out differently than you! From what I've seen his workout routine works better for him than lifting weights and popping brews... Pitching IS more flexibility and less corn fed meat head.

Lots of baseball players have a very smug and arrogant way that they carry themselves and I can see Cole being that type of guy. Then again, Bauer doesn’t get along with really any teammates and I can see him being the type of guy that gets pissed at other players because he doesn’t perceive them as caring as much

Meanwhile old school staffers on MLB teams hate bauer for using science and stats in his training. They praise cole for cheating while they hate bauer for showing them how a pitcher trains when they do not cheat. Nearly all the "hate" for bauer stems from team staffers hating on bauer rather than admitting they personally stagnated in modern training advancements.

I feel he is in Japan because he wants to be, and was getting $22 mil from the Dodgers either way, but if he doesn't come back to the MLB next year, we know he's blackballed because of that.

Bauer is a top 5 most interesting and important player in MLB history, but we live in a time of absolute cretinism. For example OP felt it necessary to show a tweet where Bauer implied it was silly to identify as something you're not, and this most obvious fact in the world is supposedly controversial. This guy revolutionized training by himself and MLB has no use for him, but from their PR you always hear about some gay minor leaguer from Nicaragua like anyone cares. MLB is so scummy I wouldn't put it past them to pay random skanks to slander Bauer.

Cole bullied Trevor personally, and you didn't really highlight that. Also, not discussing Trevor's suspension and why he was suspended is a mistake imo. Leaving out some key details here.

It's sad that no one will sign Trevor Bauer. He was unfairly accused, never charged, there's video evidence that the girl was lying, and still not even one of the 30 MLB teams will sign him. I strongly suspect that commissioner Manfred issued a silent edict with the owners not to sign Bauer under any circumstances, but good luck proving it. Japan might be his only option at this point if he wants to keep on pitching.

Had a friend who played with Cole at Orange Lutheran and was told he was major dickwad and the worst of what he saw was he smacked his gf at a party

And now every MLB team uses science to help pitchers get better and flexibility training. Stuff Trevor was doing well before it became a thing and was mocked for it. He knew flexibilty would increase longevity and prevent injuries

Trevor Bauer is the best thing that happened to baseball, and the league wanted to kill his career. He was innocent of allegations that almost ruined his career, and the MLB used it to actually destroy his reputation. He wanted to use social media to promote baseball to kids, make the game look exciting, and express ideas on how to make the game better. Sad to see he lost a full year and may not ever get his career as a part-time baseballer back

obviously we'll never know for sure, but it sounds like cole's parents were insistent on him NOT skipping college for ANY amount of money. i'd like to think (in their eyes) it was not a negotiating tactic but a parenting move. sounds like they knew their son (and him mentally/maturity) and made the right call. sounds like they had fears of him signing out of highshool, making some (decent, possibly more) money and either suffering a career ending injury/not making it or worse, making it and making tonnes of money and going bankrupt before turing 50. i'm not saying college matured him and saved him, but considering the immediate options, his parents did right by him. as a life long Blue Jays fan, i think he's a total douche (either pitcher, really) but i guess in hindsight, he could've been worse.

This is a very interesting video and comparison of two completely different athletes who took different paths to success. The methods that have been taken by each player both as they live life and have developed professionally are oil and water. They just have personality conflicts and could not find a way to make that work between them. And had either of them gone to a different college then none of this would even matter. Fate. And had Whit Merrifield not done what he did they may have a different relationship today. Winning a championship together can do that for people who do not like each other.

So long story short, Cole was a douche to Bauer in college because he felt threatened by their differences in approach and personality, which caused their animosity towards each other to grow over the years. I'm not saying Bauer is a saint (especially after the allegations), but I think I respect him a little more and Cole a little less after this video

Don't get me wrong he's an idiot for doing what he did with her- because he's the one who had everythung to lose. But she's full of shit. awesome video i think theres advantages to the way they both workout as growing up a pitcher myself i found myself doing alot of what trevor did to prep as for the beef its more understandable why they dont get along i always thought trevor was jealous of cole bc he felt like he had to work harder for the opportunities he got i kinda feel bad what i dont feel bad for is how he went above and beyond to be a douche on and off the field. i respect the way cole carries himself and isnt so blunt and public about things

Just imagine if the two of them had been able to set their differences aside, and learn from each other to benefit them both.

I try to imagine Cole watching this and going “man I really don’t like that Trevor guy” I can’t picture it. I don’t think it’s a rivalry if one guy doesn’t care.

It's been a long time, and Cole is 33. I doubt he still feels the way he did when he was in college

Bauer workouts work for him if it’s not broken no need to fix it

I wish my team would get their fingers out their ass and sign Trevor Bauer. He's the 1 thing that we're missing from being serious WS contenders.

@@johnwatkins6321 He won't be signed by a NY team. It'd most likely be a Southern or small market team. Texans should jump on him. Bauer-Degrom would be a vicious 1-2 punch.

@@johnwatkins6321 NYY, NYM, & LAD are the least likely places he'll go. With the imminent Bally Sports bankruptcy and the fact Bauer wouldn't keep his mouth shut, the 19 teams that are on Bally probably wouldn't take him either. PHI & HOU won't take him as they don't need a starting pitcher. That leaves only 6 teams that could take him: DEN, OAK, SEA, BOS, CHC, and CWS

There’s way more to this. Cole is known to be a guy that doesn’t get along with a lot of people. Bauer likes rough sex, who cares. A lot of people do, the old heads in baseball are the ones they are exiling Bauer. As players, Bauer has always just been flat out better. He’s a better personality, he’s a better pitcher, he’s a better innovator. Everything.

Santa Clarita and the part of Orange County Gerrit Cole is from don't have very little in common. They're both typical upper middle class Southern California suburbs built from the late 60s on. They also both have big themeparks.

I honestly believe Trevor Bauer would be on a Major League roster again today if he wasn't so unlikable aside from his off the field issues.

Bauer was NOT born to throw a baseball hard- Cole was.
