The 2 Tobys were insanely accurate, but the Strasburg Percy must've been literally pulled out of whatever dimension Thomas and his friends reside in, because it's literally perfect

Even more so when you find out that the Mid Hants Thomas is actually a Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST that they modified into an E2 like engine. Same for thier old Douglas, they turned another 0-6-0ST into a tender engine

4:46 I remember as a kid going to the Llangollen railway for a DOWT event and seeing that exact Diesel "Break Down" when Thomas saves him. They also did Daisy, Scruffey, Toad and Annie.

I saw her when i went a few days ago, it says which other characters were there on the website, but i dont believe it said lady was gonna be there

can't appreciate how aweful the other stuff is, without appreciating the stuff that's good. one of my most vivid childhood memories is traveling from Florida to Connecticut (visiting family) and one of the things we did on that trip was the first and only DOWT I've ever been to. best Thomas related memory.

5:07 just so you know this is an event from Denmark (Where i live) but they did it without permission from mattel and hit Entertainment so it was forced to change the name. But we have also have a legal event some other place in Denmark , Wich is pretty cool.

Actually, the coach at 2:34 isn’t small, it actually quite large. There’s just a hole in the wall that the rest of the coach goes through. I’ve been to the DOWT that has Clarabel , D199, Trevor , and the Douglas in a previous episode (which has now been converted to Donald) I would recommend going there.

1:11 That’s at the Mid Hants Railway. I went to that DOWT event with my family last year, as my nephew loves Thomas, and they had that very traction engine there 😊 In fact, you know that Duck & Thomas picture you looked at in your last DOWT event? That was taken from that event in Mid Hants from a later date last year. It was amazing seeing a Duck so accurate to the original character! 😄 Unfortunately, they won’t have Duck there. They will, however, have Diesel, and considering how accurate they get him, I’m looking forward to that. They were going to include Percy too, but changed their mind at the last minute! 😅 *UPDATE* Well,after going to the Mid Hants Railway again, it was such a downgrade from last year. Only three characters were there. Thomas (DUH 😂), Diesel & Toad. Thomas looked great chassis wise, but his face has been in the sun so much that his eyes & teeth are now a horrible cream colour!! Sadly, Diesel’s no better! There’s a CGI Diesel face available for the UK DOWT events, yet they just gave him the Mavis face, which many British vintage railways use for other characters,like Spencer and Victor!!

1:27 Isn't it canon in RWS that Toby comes from East Anglia? If so, then it's a perfect coincidence that one of the best DowT Tobys is in the same place he came from in canon

Honestly, you got to respect the fact that the other railways tried to make Thomas despite them being..my sleep paralysis demon. Kind of sad that none of these railways made Edward but Edward isn't really that popular compared to Thomas, Gordon, Diesel, James and Percy

You don't get many 4-4-0 tender engines to cosplay as Edward, although I'm sure most of us would be ok with a 2-6-0 or 2-6-2 playing the part.

Oh shit, 3:52 Toby and 4:48 Diesel both look like Llangollen Railway! That's where I went for DOWTs as a kid! got pics of me standing by both of them, this vid really do be nostalgic

My favourite is the Watercress Line Thomas lookalike engine at 2:46. It’s so accurate and amazing . I also love the East Anglian Railway’s Toby and Henrietta engine and coach at 1:22.

The East Anglican Toby replica was such a wonderful tribute to him as a character in the RWS and when his basis, the J50/GER C53 were all completely cut up) The world is always much nicer, whenever we see our favourite little old tram.

5:33 “Why do we even talk about the Strasburg Thomas when [show-accurate Percy] exists?” I always thought it was because EDT 15 is the only character from the show in North America (that I know of) that’s actually steam powered and not a dummy that looks the part Also for me personally I grew up on the model series and stopped watching it before CGI came out (so CGI looks creepy to me), so OG Face Strasburg Thomas will always hold a place in my heart for that. Now if they could also make a model-era Percy Face you’d convert me over, but until then I guess I’ll die on that hill (/essay)

The Strasburg DOWT is literally the GOAT! I’m so lucky to have grown up near there and been able to go as a kid. We even had a much smaller DOWT come to the small railroad in my hometown for a few years, but it wasn’t as nice as the Strasburg one. We’ve had a picture of me and my siblings in front of the Strasburg Thomas hanging in my parents’ house ever since I was little. Needless to say, Thomas played a big part in my life and the Strasburg railroad’s DOWT really helped with that.

Toby actually used to work in East Anglia (probably), so it is really a tribute more than anything.

Once imwas at a railway, they were building a thomas engine (this was a propersteam engine) and I saw his chassis and his face hung on the wall and his boiler at the otherside of the workshop. scared me for life. just a little story. wonderful video by the way

The best Thomas I saw was at the railway near me . It was a lms jinty in blue and it looked spot on . I even work at the railway now

At 2:18 I know seen that engine multiple times and saw it with the lady face before I think the last day out with Thomas they didn’t have the face on though but the Ipswich workshops do a good job with day out with Thomas, it’s sad Pompey(a train that used to sit out the front and a train he has covered) is no longer on display because then there would be Donald and Douglas now it’s just Douglas I think(Pb15 sitting in a covered area of the museum) but they have Queensland’s only Beyer garrat there and I wish they did that up for day out with Thomas.

There's so much great stuff at Day Out With Thomas

I got to go to DOWT once when I was about 7, and once when I was about 11. Both were the regular touring Thomas in the USA with the dummy Thomas, not the Strasbourg one with the real steam Thomas, but I still had fun! The first time was in Minnesota, the second time was in Texas. In the latter case, it was the 60th anniversary tour! I was probably the oldest kid there who wasn’t there because of a younger sibling.

Live 20 minutes from Strasburg and went to the first ever day out with Thomas ever at Strasburg and drive by for work enjoy constantly telling my younger niece and nephew about the little blue train I see at work

I LOVE THE WATERCRESS/MID HANTS RAILWAY DOWT ENGINES

when I was little I went to a day out with Thomas event at our local steam railway. many years later I became a member of the Mid Hants railway trust for two years. back in 2011 I helped to clean up the yard at the engine shed after a Day out with Thomas event then I helped to clean up Thomas himself to make him presentable for his trip down to the South Devon railway for their event. there was some talk about weather or not they would transport Thomas with the remaining coal on board. thankfully the head engineer decided that they would which may have saved me the trouble of removing it as I was in the cab while they was talking about it

I'm being a bit bias of course as a member and volunteer of this railway, but I believe the East Lancashire Railway has one of the best thomas, Hudswell Clarke Manchester Ship Canal 0-6-0 Gothenburg has such lovely proportions.

I went to day out with Thomas in Washington. It was hype

Strasburg Thomas is the one I had thought I was going to see as a child, but I really didn't mind seeing the dummy Thomas out here in Florida because the railroad museum we went to had tents where there was Tomy and HO models and tracks of Thomas where I got to see the Bachman Gordon for the first time, and now as an adult, I really want the Bachman Gordon and James just to make them better, DOWT really just makes me miss being a child at times

Have a look into the form DOWT events that Eastleigh Lakeside Railway did. A miniature railway but the Gordon they had was actually signed off by Britt Allcroft and used the same paint as the model did in the original TV show.

I remember the first time I went to day out with Thomas :) it was 2016 in Italy (I dunno if it was a real day out with thomas but uh yeah the train were ttte engines) and when I got back home I had in a bag like 20 engines from take n play to trackmaster lmao. Such a warm memory.

This is why I chose to make a O gauge Strasburg Thomas, it's THE Thomas here in the US, Strasburg nailed the look despite it being a Porter 0-6-0. Also Oigawa Railways Thomas and their characters look fantastic 🤙

Not many railways in the UK host a day out with Thomas events due to the Mattel high costs to host them. However there is now a Thomas world in the UK at a theme park in Staffordshire at Drayton Manor Theme Park.

I miss going to day out with Thomas I loved that as a little kid and I still do

The surprising thing is that no DOWT has done this: 1.) has a black five 2.) paint it like Henry 3.) have a decent Henry face Now you actually have the real life Henry.

It honesty didn’t occur to me until now that the last image looks more like a Day Out With Billy and Ferdinand rather then with Thomas

I live nearby the East Anglian Railway Museum, so when I visit, I usually see Toby there. He is very noisy as he is a converted John Fowler 0-4-0DH loco, so that could be one reason why one doesn't feel like the Fat Controller on holiday with Toby.
